Coinage

It's been a while since I last posted an entry on here. So I decided to post something helpful mainly to me. Since I've been working at Kroger, I've started a coin collection. It's going pretty well so far, but here are the coins I still need to get to complete the books I have currently. If you have any of these, and are willing to fork them over, please do. Otherwise, watch this list slowly shrink as I struggle to find the last remaining coins. D,P,and S represent the Denver, Philadelphia, and San Fransisco(?) mintmark respectively, whereas the N represents no mintmark (D.C.).

In other news, I recently registered for school in the fall. I only have maybe 16 or so hours until I can graduate with my B.S. in Biology. After that, I'm thinking about Clinical Lab Sciences... we'll see how all that turns out.

You would make this post the same day I took a 50 pound bag of coins to the bank! No joke! Ask her!

  • on_eagles_wings
Yeah, sorry! We probably had every one of those. They are in a vault now, waiting to be counted. It is a little hard to go off and leave a big baggy of coins at a bank, hoping they will honestly tell you what you brought in. I can see some cashier going, "One for you, two for me, one for you...."

if it hasn't been counted yet, there's a good chance you can get the bag back...

Somewhat of an Update

So I'm still working at Old Paris Pike Kroger pharmacy. Things are going well there... and I haven't flipped my car lately. So things are generally good.

I actually have something of value to post today.

So I like reading various movie weblogs to stay prepared for new movie releases. And to promote "The Dark Knight," the new Batman flick coming out this summer, they've been running a few underground campaigns. And apparently they sent a van into the Fayette Mall parking lot today to hand out t-shirts and memorabilia in order to "campaign" for "Harvey Dent."

If you're not familiar with this Harvey Dent character, he's the guy from Batman that becomes Two-Face. Think of Tommy Lee Jones from that previous terrible Batman movie.

Anyways, it was raining pretty hard, and they were claiming that they weren't being let into the mall as part of a "plot corroborated by corrupt police," so I located their van sitting outside the mall parking lot right on the dot of 4 pm.
And I got some free swag that they tossed to my car from their window. The t-shirt was a little on the small side, so I decided to frame it so I could keep it as a collectible for my growing nerdery.
That is all.

allright.. so here's the rest of the story.

so last night at about 10 pm or so i decided to head home to lexington. i loaded my car up with all the stuff i brought home.. clothes, laptop, dig. camera, books, and even a carpet remnant i was attempting to donate to a buddy of mine back in the lex. i got about 30-40 minutes into the drive, and i entered a construction zone near a truck weigh station. near the truck weight station exit, i noticed a truck barrelling down the ramp. he looked like he was going to take up both lanes so i tended to get in the fast lane and hit my brakes a little to give him room.
he passed by, but the trunk end of the car fish-tailed, hit the giant concrete divider that was directly parallel to the lane i was in to my left, rode the divider, and flipped over 180 degrees in two directions.,
when the car came to rest, i was hanging suspended in my seat belt, and the car facing towards traffic in the slow lane upside down. before anything happened, i tried to take the keys out. it was still in drive, so it didn't work. so i reached for the emergency lights, unbuckled myself, opened the driver-side door, and crawled out. i immediately called 911 to report the incident on my call phone. somebody got out of their car to check on me in the mean-time... i seemed ok. i called mom and dad and they started up the road after me. the police showed up, called up a tow-truck, mom and dad showed up about the time that it arrived. i managed to pop the trunk and get all my stuff out of it.
so overall, i'm fine. i'm a little sore, have a few small cuts on my hands, and am glad to be alive. somehow my laptop and digital camera managed to survive. i guess that carpet remnant came in handy after all.
the only casualties from the wreck were the tote carrying all books, my driving record, and, as expected, the Camry. it looks like i might be inheriting an army green '98 Nissan altima.
and on the upside, i now have another super neat driving story AND an entire lucky outfit.

how is everyone else's new year going?
  • phoenixsong
Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the ground.

I'm very glad you were not hurt! It really stinks that this happened, but that's pretty much how life goes sometimes. I'll have to tell you about my latest car mishap later.

Poor Camry. That is a great story, though, and a lot to be thankful for. As they say, "Any wreck you can walk away from..."

wow....that's crazy! did the trucker stop? i keep hearing all these stories about car getting "clipped" by truckers who just keep driving cuz they don't wanna lose their jobs...but based on that story, i would have to assume he had some pretty bad damage, too?

Trailer Notes: I just got an iMac for Christmas and I wanted to make my first iMovie special. While I was considering it, I got hit by a bolt of inspiration. I decided to do a spoof trailer for a movie about a friend of mine who just had a bad wreck.

Craig, thanks for being a good sport! You are one of my best friends in the world, and this is just my pitiful attempt to make a joke at your expense.
