... most of them have lived in the north or can't stand being cold.
For me two scriptures come to mind...
Isaiah 1:18
"Come now, let us reason together," says the Lord.
"Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
Matthew 19:14
But Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
Yes, even snow is a blessing from the Lord!!!
UPDATE - more lake effect forecast for Thursday and Friday!
I understand the first scripture, but what does Matt. 19:14 have to do with snow? I may be missing something. I too love snow it is ice I can live without. I especially like snow storms, because then people tend to come out of their houses and help each other.
Seeing a kid play in the snow is one of the most wonderful sights in the world. Cindy, my wife, has a young boy from Central America in here room this year. He can in from recess Tuesday with the brightest smile Cindy has seen in a while.
There is a great story about the election and tolerance here and a follow up here. Both stories, shockingly enough, come from the Chicago Tribune.
Last night Cindy and I had the chance to watch a program that we had grown tired of making excuses for - ER. However, we saw, earlier in the week, that an old character - Mark Green - was going to be brought back in a flash back. The episode reminded me what drew Cindy and me to this show - riveting drama and good stories (not good in the righteous sense - but good acting and writing).
Now, I have done my share, maybe more than my share, of ripping current TV, but last night's ER episode was good - really good! Next week's might go back to the drivel of pushing sexual scenes and homosexuality - but last night was decent entertainment - not something, a Christian can expect these days!
May the God of all love and patience grant you all a wonderful day and weekend to bask in His abundant grace, love, and mercy.
Big tip of the chapeau to Jeff for the story on tolerance.
Craig and I also enjoyed ER then as well. I haven't seen it in many years. I almost set the recorder for last night and forgot. I figure I can catch it online though.
i think someone will end up comparing this type of protest by gays to African American riot and protest during the Civil Rights Movement. Some will make it out to be a great thing of an oppressed group standing up for their rights. It can be so discouraging to realize this is the way many think now. We need to be ready to defend the truth because someday we may have to deal with persecution for calling sin sin.
Lord are you sure this is what you want for our country? - Hab. 1:12-13
Okay, Lord, I will watch and wait. - Hab. 2:1-2
- I know the Lord does see evil from His throne - Hab. 2:5-20
No matter how bad it gets - I Will Always Trust YOU!!! - Hab. 3:17-19.
Habakkuk has long been my favorite minor prophet.
This offering given with considerable leeway and latitude - fully realizing that our "plight" is not even near the same as Habakkuk's nor even close to many of our brothers and sisters in the rest of the world.
God is in control. He will always take care of His people. Our lives may become harder but we serve a God who is all powerful and will give us strength to go through anything that comes our way.
