It amazes me what Ethan comes up with everyday. This was just funny. "Cool" is his new word. I think my mom says that to him :) So far this weekend I've heard about the "cool paci (pacifier)" and "cool Mickey". hehe

Is correcting (well, "getting on to") another persons child intimidating them? And is it wrong? Is it wrong if the child NEEDED to be told what he was told?
Situation: We drove over to view a piece of playground equipment for Ethan at a home in a neighborhood we are not familiar with. I entered the wrong house number on the Garmin, so when we got to the cul-de-sac we had to drive around twice. Several families of children were playing in the culdesac and had various bikes and scooters around so I was driving carefully. Since I didn't see the address I decided I might ask one of the kids if they knew which was the correct home. So I look through the window at an 8 - 9 year old boy who proceeds to say to me "What are you looking at (insert slang for lady of the night here)". Of course I say "what did you just call me" and immediately pulled over. Scott jumps out as I did (well, we were at the house we were going to...so not randomly stopping here) and told him not to call me or any other woman that. Of course he said he said "Hi"...okay, so he can't lie well either.
We go out back, look at the swing set and come back out front. Lo and behold...guess who's coming to meet us. Mommy of the boy. Nice! So she asks if we intimidated her son. What kind of question is that? I told her what he said and she tells me "he wouldn't say that". Hmmmm...okay. Well let me insert here that the little girl who lives in the house we went to said he says that all the time...so of course I'm thinking this lady has no idea or just has her head buried in the sand. So I told her that her son was sitting right behind her laughing with a big grin on his face. (If you know me, you know I wanted to grab that kid out myself! UGHHHHH!) She was clearly intent on just telling us we had no right to "intimidate" her son so I just told her I wasn't going to talk with her about it anymore.
I have to say if someone told me my son said such a thing he would be licking a nice bar of LifeBoy or Ivory...whichever is handy. BUT I also have to say that if someone told me that I would wonder at my son saying such a thing. I have a feeling that this boys Mom will be crying later over her sons indiscretions later on. I wish people would be parents and not just people who happen to have children living in their home.
I think it will be a long time before I forget that stupid grin on his face knowing that he pulled one over on mom. What a shame.

Okay, so last year it was the unidentified critter in the garage. Scott didn't have his glasses on so we still have no idea what it was...and really, I don't want to know.
Fast forward to 2010...I think there is a raccoon hanging out between the first and second floor in our house! I'm guessing raccoon. First I thought squirrel - then it started running or something and it is definitely NOT a squirrel.
I guess this is what happens when you live in "The Livable Forest"!

First day back after New Years! Two onsites two days in a row...not real excited about that, but it does make the week go faster. League City today, Beaumont tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a looooooooooooong day. Leave at 5:30 am (really?!) and back by 5:30 to pick up Ethan, then head to services to teach the 2 year old class. I think I'll take a nap at lunch on Thursday :)

We took a break from the decluttering yesterday. I was so worn out after looking through many, many storage boxes and sorting items on Tuesday. My office/sewing room looks more like a storage/junk room right now but I hope to remedy that this afternoon.
I'm so excited. About to leave for my first meeting with my two quilting friends! Yeah! I joined a guild last year, but it wasn't really what I was looking for. I don't have time for raffles and fund raisers and stuff. I just needed something to "get away" and enjoy. They had some great speakers the 4-5 times I got to go so I feel I got something out of it. Anyway, I better get out of here and get to it.
Hope everyone has a good day. Kim
