I honestly don't know a single person who is happy about how the Presidential Election went last night. Obviously, they're out there, but I just don't know any of them. So, if you're feeling a little low and maybe lost some faith in your fellow Americans, read this:All is not lost (even in California!)If you find yourself upset at someone in particular...If you find yourself angry at their words or actions...If you find yourself grumbling or complaining about someone... If you find yourself mocking someone...Then that is one sure fire way to know they need to be on your prayer list. Pray for that person. Pray for them in earnest knowing that God's will is always done.

I voted

After my third attempt I finally got to the voting booth. I almost didn't go. The idea of spending an hour in line with Will (who would obviously try to escape) just didn't seem worth it. I've heard so many people say that it really doesn't matter if you vote in Texas or not. McCain will take Texas. Then, I thought of all those local and state offices that were on the line. I thought of those people biting their fingernails just waiting for the results. My vote may not make a difference in the BIG election, but it sure makes a difference to Debbie Riddle (my state rep who happens to be a Christian). So, I prayed to God for strength and patience, packed a baggie full of "new" snacks, a "new" toy car for Will to play with and drove to, what was sure to be, the line of misery.Then... I walked right in. No line at all. No kidding. I voted and walked back out in about 10 minutes. I didn't even have to break out the car. It felt grea...

Only one Bob

Will is a little obsessed (is that possible?) with Bob the Builder. Even though he knows Bob's technical name, Will insists on calling him "Bob the fix it can". This name pretty much sums up the Bob the Builder theme song...Bob the BuilderCan he fix it?Bob the BuilderYes he can!Anytime Will hears someone say 'Bob' he loudly corrects them with, "No! Bob the fix it can!" It's unfortunate for us that Bob is a fairly popular name. Here are some recent conversations/arguments heard at our house...FRIDAYMallory: Mitch named his desk BobMe: Why?Mallory: I guess he wanted to.Me: Oh, well how's Bob doing?Mallory: Good..Bob did the hula today.Me(foolishly applying reason to a completely unreasonable scenario): How did Bob do the hula? Isn't Bob a desk? Will: No! Bob the fix it can!Mallory: No Will, we're talking about Bob the desk. Will (louder): No! Bob the fix it can!Mallory: I'm talking about Bob the desk!! Bob the desk did the hula. Will (in tears): No, B...

My heart is weary and my brain is mush, but I can still pray

I decided to take a break from blogging until life settled down a little bit. Well, that was back in August, and life has done nothing but throw us curveballs ever since. My family needs prayers...prayers for strength, both physical and emotional. My mother had to have major surgery on her right kidney to remove 5 tumors, that are likely cancerous, and has had a difficult time recovering. She said she feels like she was sawn in half. She only has about another month to recover before facing the second surgery on the left kidney. IF it turns out that the tumors aren't cancerous, then she'll be done after the second surgery. That is the best possible scenario. She is just so weak right now. Then, on Tuesday evening (I can't believe that was just yesterday) my dad's brother passed away very unexpectedly. Virgil wasn't just my dad's brother, he was one of his closest friends. We are all so brokenhearted. Virgil was a believer and loved God til the end. We know that he is at peace with ...
