2 stories today but one is about Him

Yesterday afternoon I was helping Kelli with her Bible lesson for class. She and I were working on a worksheet for Proverbs. The subject was temptations. I was trying to help Kelli understand what temptations were.Me: Temptations are things that cause you to make a choice that is bad and you will get into trouble. It's kind of like when I ask you to clean your room and you have a thought that says "Mom is always on you to clean up your room. You don't need to do it right now, just ignore her."Kelli: "That's terrible!"Me: I know and God doesn't like it because the Devil is always wanting us to do wrong so that we don't obey God. The Devil doesn't want anyone to obey God.Kelli: "I think when the Devil does that to us that God puts His hands on His hips and gets a mad look on His face."Me: I'm sure He does._____________________________________________________________Last Saturday morning when Phillip and I got ready to exchange cards for our Ann...

Happy Anniversary to us!

Today is our 22nd Anniversary!________________________________________________________A New ExperienceYesterday Kelli's class was using red paint to paint apples because they are talking about apples and leaves.Kelli accidentally got some of the paint in her hair. While her teacher was washing the paint out of Kelli's hair in the sink she tells the Classroom Aide "In 30 years I've never had one get paint in their hair."I am supposed to meet with Kelli's teacher for a conference on October 14th. I think I'll skip telling Mrs. Barker the paint washing episode might not be the only new experience she has this year :)

It's 2 for 1 day AGAIN!

I forgot to post this one about Kelli my parents reminded me the other day.One night when my parents were staying with us after Ike, Kelli wanted to sleep in my room. We just got our power on that evening and I kicked both kids out of my room. Kelli back to her room and Jennifer and her air mattress to the den.Kelli did not want to sleep in her room so she wrote me a note which basically was "Please, Please I'll sleep in my bed tomorrow night" I was in another room and my parents were in my living room and Kelli carried the note to me to read.I caved in and told her OK one last night. She walks by my parents and says:"Yes I got her!"_____________________________________________________________Yesterday after school I told Kelli I didn't like her behavior and to change it immediately.Kelli: Um the bad Kelli put the naughty costume on me and I can't help acting ugly.Me: Oh that's too bad cause you're gonna get in trouble for everything the bad Kelli do...

The other children are supposed to interview that child. Kelli has been practicing. She has one of us interview her so she'll be ready.
Tag I'm It

Ok I've kind of done other things like this before so I've tried to think of somethings that I've never shared.1. I really want to be a published writer someday. I have had this dream since I was in elementary school. I have a notebook full of stories, etc.2. I eat pizza with a fork. First I eat all of the topping off with the fork. Then I pick up the pizza slice and eat it the normal way but all that is left is bread crust and tomato sauce. I don't know when I started that, my Mom says I've been doing that a long time.3. I cannot stand milk. Even when I was a baby my Mom said I wouldn't drink it. I don't like it with chocolate mix or syrup in it either. I do like ice cream and milk shakes.4. I cannot eat any food with a lumpy texture for example oatmeal or applesauce. I cannot stand it and it gags me. For me that is saying something...I have a strong stomach.5. I can memorize things very fast. Especially numbers such as songs in the song book or telephone numbers. I once wo...

A Kelli Cutie

Yesterday when Kelli was saying the prayer for dinner she added this line:"Thank you for letting the power come on to our homes and let it come on for the rest of the people too."It never ceases to amaze me what kids pick up on!By the way, my day is feeling much more normal now that my routing is back! You have no idea how big of a step it is for me to actually admit I need a routine.

The kids are out of school & the news is After Ike.Don't misunderstand me, the storm is a very big deal. However, last night I looked around my living room and decided to get back to our routine & get back to normal.Perhaps you've already reached this point, i'm a little slow :)My kids were not too happy that today is going to be a cleaning day since they are STILL out of school.
Another Kelli story :)

My parents are staying with us because they still have no power. They took Jennifer and Kelli to Subway for lunch today because I have bronchitis and have become another cushion on my couch. My Dad was pestering Kelli and when Kelli had enough she said:"Pepaw when I die I'm gonna tell your Mother how you acted."I have to say his Mother wouldn't be surprised :)

Hurricane Ike Preparations Part 1

I am going to make several posts over the next week or so, mostly just to record my thoughts while they are fresh on my mind. The other reason is that so many people that don't live along the Gulf or Atlantic coasts are curious about hurricanes. This won't be a whine or complain session just a record of my thoughts. I have pictures that I took in the rooms section of my blog. Just look for "rooms" and click and then go to the "Hurricane Ike" section to view them.Preparations:The worst thing before a hurricane arrives is watching and waiting trying to figure out where it's going. Now with the technology we have (of which I'm very grateful) we can watch those things thousands of miles away. The only problem is that nobody except the Lord knows exactly what is going to happen. That being the case that leaves people in the potential "Cone of Uncertainty" watching and playing the should I get ready or not game. This usally means you have to wait until 24 ...

Hurricane Ike

We survived the storm. We had minor damage but we are all OK. We got our power back tonight at 7:00 PM woo hoo!I've posted some photos in my rooms. I've got a lot to say about the storm but this is all for now.Mom and Dad are staying with me. They still don't have power in Friendswood and the City of Friendswood is having sewer issues until the power is restored. Mom & Dad had no damage at their house. They had one pine tree fall beside their house. It was a fairly large tree and it fell parallel to their house instead of on it. The bonus about the tree is that my Dad hated it and wished it wasn't there. I told him to practice being sad when he told people about the tree.I'll post more later. Thanks for all the prayers!
