Cows and dancing...

Last week I took the kids down to the American Royal to watch a horse cutting show. We went with our friends and had such a good time. It was free which was great! The kids really could have cared less for the event but they did enjoy running all over the bleachers and getting filthy from head to toe. Here are some pictures of them there. And while they ran around like crazy the mommies had a good visit. Also here is a video I took of the kids. Now keep in mind they were still doing this after we had already watched them a long time and then finally I got my camera. I think they were watching themselves in the reflection. But its fair to say they dance to a different drum! :)And now a few more stories about the kids. Lily is turning into such a talker. The other night I was teasing Luke because his hair was getting too long and he had a piece that was sticking up. I was telling him he had a tail. Lily piped up, "No Uke not have a tail. I have a tail. Uk...

Thanks and pass it on...

So since its so close to thanksgiving I thought this might be fun. And I haven't really worked out how this might work so if its a bust no big deal. But I thought it might be nice to share with some of our friends WHY we are thankful for them. I just got done writing a list of why I'm thankful for each of the ladies that comes to our ladies bible class and thought it would be fun to let some other people know why I'm thankful for them to. So just for ease I'm going to pick two people and say why I'm thankful for them. And this isn't like you have to be tagged to do this. I think anyone wouldn't mind to hear why you are thankful for them. I could do this with each one of you but that would get very long. So I will thank God for all of you but just put two up here for all to read.I'm thankful for my sister because she is amazing! You know the kind of people you hope your kids will grow up to be like? Well for me its my sister. She was born mature. She has an amazing heart -...

Dear God...

I love to listen to kids prayers. They say the cutest things. Lily is starting to say her own prayers and they are pretty hard to understand. She mumbles a lot but usually thanks God for her toys and food over and over again. Very sweet. Luke on the other hand is getting to the age where we have to remind him to think about what he is saying so he doesn't say a rote prayer. The other night before his prayer daddy reminded him of that. Here were the results (at least what I could remember):Dear God,Thank you for the special day that you have given us. Thank you for my friends. Thank you for our church family. Help us to not be like Balaam but help us to be like Noah and Abraham who followed your plans. (Pause) And dear God please give me a wife. Amen.Ryan and I got such a laugh out of that one. I loved that he remembered some of the characters that he's been studying but asking for a wife at 4! Priceless! Later when we were talking about it he said, "I said gi...

Trick AND treat

So I was doing my usual grocery shopping on Friday when Ryan called to see where I was and if I would like him to meet me and help me. I told him I was at Price Chopper and wouldn't be there long and then I'd be heading to Walmart. He told me to call him when I left Price Chopper and he might meet me at Walmart to help. So imagine my surprise when about 15 minutes later my husband comes walking down the chip aisle with my SISTER! She had come into town for the weekend and drove down to Raymore to surprise us! I was very surprised and of course cried! We had lunch and then she went to get my mom and dad and they all came down for dinner and trick or treating. My brother was already planning to come down too so we surprised him with Lindsey too! What a wonderful trick! Here are a few pictures from the night. We din't get many great ones this year. :( The kids had a blast getting candy. Their buckets were so full they were off balance! We kept trying to carry Lily's for her ...

Fall and Halloween preview...

Well fall is here and we are loving all the beautiful colors outside and all the fun things to do. I don't have a lot of time to write because I need to go help Lily fall asleep so she can get a good nap in. But I did want to put up this slide show of our visit to the local farm and pumpkin patch. The kids were a little grumpy that day so they weren't in the mood for many pictures so here's what I got. They realy enjoyed the animals but Lily kept tripping over the vines in the pumpkin patch and Luke was grouchy because he couldn't figure out how to slide down the fireman pole by himself. They all were happier by the end but the pictures did suffer. :(Also here are some pictures of the kids trying on their costumes. Luke is actually going to be wearing a different mask because he could barely see out of the eye mask. And Lily will have a black nose and tail that you can't see in the picture. Here's also a picture of her standing watching TV with her ears, gloves and tail on...

Just in case you want to watch...

a really dark video of my baby talking. I just think she's cute so I like to watch it (or listen to it). I took this back in September on Ryan's birthday, back when she was trying to sleep in our bed each night.

Enough about me...

Just wanted to share with you some very recent pictures of Lily. She has developed her own little style and I got a few pictures of it. She loves this hat. She got it last Christmas so it shouldn't even fit but she thinks it goes with everything as evidenced by the pictures. And she also now loves her purse. She is constantly worried about where it is - especially when we leave church because she's left it there before. I don't know where she gets her fashion sense but I'm sure its not from my sister! Also Lily and I have been working on potty training again. She is doing so good this time around. I took her with me to the bathroom at a gospel meeting the other night. She said, "My turn mommy?" So I let her sit up there not really thinking she would go since she usually hates big pottys. But she went and shouted, "I did it!" Then she got down and said, "Bye pee-pee! I Yove you!" I was cracking up! What kind of kid tells their potty the...

8 little known facts...

about me. I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to do this but I didn't have any trouble coming up with 8 things about me that are kind of random. I guess that makes me a random person. And to share the love I will be tagging some of you who probably also hoped to avoid this craze! :)1. I was born in Charleston South Carolina. We lived there on the naval base until I was about 2. I have never been back and would like to.2. I was on a local TV show when I was in elementary school. It was some kind of quiz show called Jellybeans and was filmed at our local TV station. I remember there were 2 other kids from my school chosen too and I was picked out of the crowd to do something but that's all I remember. We had it on tape for awhile but I would hate to see it. That was during the time in my life where I had a bad perm for about 5 years!3. When I was in school the number one thing I got in trouble for was my mouth. I talked way too much! I also tended to get in trou...

Some local news...

I know you all are holding your breath until I post my 8 random or little known facts, since I have been tagged, but you'll have to wait. :) (Besides you will probably already know them all!) I just wanted to post this link to a local story that's getting a lot of press nationally. Why? Because I used to do speech therapy at this school! And believe me the fact that this is what their spending their school day doing is the least of their problems. This school is largely for kids who have failed at every other school in Kansas City. They are the kids every one else has given up on and there are a lot of problems there. The year I worked there we had a shooting at one of our bus stops. But also while I was there I informed the principal that they were out of compliance on every IEP they had and nothing was ever done about it. It seemed to me that lots of the teachers didn't even bother teaching (most of them were not certified but were working on it). But at least they are te...

New Pics...

I just wanted to put up these new pictures of the kids. Luke had his 4 year pictures taken today. There were lots of good ones and now I'm second guessing that I picked the 2 best. I was limited by the budget this month so I had to narrow it to two poses! So here are the two I picked. And I had to throw these in too. Lily got some cowgirl boots from a friend and I just had to take a picture of her. She wasn't really cooperating with posing but I got one anyway. And Luke never wants me to take one of her without him, so even though he'd had a whole portrait session, I got another one of the two of them. Lily is very impressed with her boots. When she first put them on yesterday she had no idea how to walk in them so she was walking on her heels. Of course I didn't have the camera! But here are the pictures.
