What's New with me?

Well, I have been trying to get used to my new office location. I use to be in an office that looked over the river and it was quite beautiful & relaxing, but my department had to move out of the riverfront property and into one of our high rise buildings a couple of blocks away. The problem with that is that there is no available parking in the building or close by. I was given a parking spot 5 blocks up the street that is paid for by the company. I don't mind the walk, but I come into work early and sometimes leave late and I was not too excited about walking in the dark.....by the way, I work in downtown Richmond! So I'm footing the bill myself to have a parking place that is one block away. I hate doing that, but I feel a whole lot safer and that is what is important. I'm getting use to the change, but it's not easy....I was spoiled on the river.Next weekend my sister Carol and I are meeting up with my sister, Pat in Savannah, GA for the "Southern Lady Celebration&...

I've been tagged, but I'm not sure I can come up with 8 random/interesting facts about myself.... If I tag you please play along. 1. I have a paranoial about bathroom stalls...I accidently got locked in one when I was in the 1st grade and to this day get a little nervous when the door doesn't open immediately. 2. I can pinch and write with my toes! The pinching comes in handy when you want someone to get on their side of the bed!3. I love sour candy.....the more sour.....the better!4. When I was a little girl, I was quite a talker up until I started school and had to stand in the corner quite a bit for mouthing back to the teacher. Now I tend to think before I speak.5. I've had two concussions in my life.....one when I was in 2nd grade and the other from an automobile accident in 1975. 6. If I could rename my only daughter, I would have named her Ruby Rose. 7. I can't stand to eat anything that has crushed candy in it, like ice cream or cake icing with crush candy.8. ...

I arrived safely on Friday here in Tampa. Pat is doing pretty good. I took her out for a little while yesterday and that seemed to help her a lot. She is planning on going to worship services this morning. The weather here so far has been beautiful. We escaped any effects of Hanna and we'll see what we get with Ike. Hope everyone is doing well and not having any effects from these storms.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, today is my 51st birthday. I don't mind telling my age. It's just a number and has nothing to do with how I feel. I'm not sure what you are suppose to feel like at 51, but I feel great and am thankful for my good health.I had a wonderful day today. My hubby started it out by waking me up @ 7:45am to give me my present. He is worse than a kid when it comes to opening presents. He gave me a very nice watch for my birthday. Then I got up and got ready and picked up April and her & I went shopping. What better thing to do on your birthday! We made out pretty good on our shopping trip. Then April & Del headed to the ballgame, while Josh, my brother, Bill and I headed to the zoo. I just love the local zoo we have here. We spent almost 4 hours at the zoo. I could sit there all day and watch the chimps and apes. They are so cute and funny. Then we went over to Josh and April's house and played the Wii. Bowling is my favorite. I tried the car racing, but it made ...

Pat's Coming Home Today!

I talked to Pat this morning and she is so excited because she gets to come home today! She sounded really good and said that she feels so much better now that she is off of the morphine. She said that she will probably start her chemo in a couple of weeks.Hope everyone is doing well. I'll be busy this coming week at work trying to get things in a good position for me to be gone a week. As soon as I get back, I'm moving to another office location, so I've got to pack up all my stuff this week too. And I'll be busy at home getting my clothes packed for Florida. I'll be happy when I get down there.I'm beginning to feel fall in the air. I love the fall time of the year. Applebutter is right around the corner!

Prayer Works

First of all, thank you all for your prayers in my sister's behalf. The Lord has answered our prayers in that they have found the cancer in it's early stages and that there were no cancer cells in any of her lymph nodes. The doctor feels confident that he was able to get it all. She had a complete hysterectomy and will have to have chemo. I am anxious to get down to Florida to be with her and Lord willing I will be leaving a week from Friday to do just that. Pat is very upbeat and has a positive outlook, which is half the battle. As you remember so many others in your prayers, please continue to pray for her and her recovery.

Latest News

We received some good news this afternoon about Pat. The test results finally came back from the fluid that was drained off of her and there were NO cancer cells in it. She still has to have surgery to remove the mass and then they will know if it is cancerous. Lord willing, it will not be, but regardless we know that He will be with her through it all. "God answers prayer today, but in the wisest way. He knows what's best for us, from day to day."She was able to go home today and will return next week for the surgery. I know her and Phil are so thankful for the prayers that have been offered in their behalf.

Update of Pat

Unfortunately I don't have much to update on. Pat was moved from Brandon Regional Hospital to Tampa General. I was finally able to talk to her this afternoon and it felt so good to hear her voice. She has been in ICU since Tuesday and there is no phone in ICU, but today my Mom and sister, Carol flew down and Mom called me on her cell phone from Pat's room and I got to talk to her. She sounded great and said that she is just waiting to find out when they are going to do the surgery to remove the mass. We are still awaiting word on exactly what the mass is and what are the next steps. The unknown and the waiting is the hardest part. Continue to remember her and Phil in your prayers. I know Pat is anxious to get back home and so is Phil.
