Yet Another Goofy Slideshow

I took a few random pictures of the moon tonight and then came home and played with them a little to enhance the light and shadows. I also saw gas at the local Wal-Mart for LESS than $3/Gal, so I had to take a picture of that. Enjoy the show....

Time Flies

Dad is currently doing well and under going his chemo treatments with a minimum of side effects but I'd rather not dwell on that or my previous post at the moment, so instead I'll just bore you with some of the pictures taken during the vacation I took a couple of weeks ago to Seagrove Beach, FL (highly recommended). These are some of my favorite pictures from the trip (not all of my favorites) and certainly not all the pictures that were taken.

Is it still a cliche if people need to hear it?

As many of you know, my family discovered that my Father (most likely) has advanced pancreatic cancer this week. Anytime I become still or I don't have something to otherwise occupy my mind I begin to think about all the things I still wanted to do with Dad, all the things I took for granted that he'd be there for when I was ready. I'm still a single, (relatively) young, man who always thought that his Dad would be there; on my wedding day, when I had children, when I get in over my head with some (get someone else to) do it yourself project, or just when we both had a free moment to enjoy each others company, now I'm not so sure. Occasionally I manage to reflect on the good times (funny how something like this makes all the seemingly bad times disappear) we've shared over the years which really helps me appreciate how much I really love my Dad. Though we've never been exceptionally close, it's clear to me now how much we've loved each other over the years and how important we are...

Week Four

Despite not tracking my points for most of the last week due to having the nasties, I've still managed to loose weight. I'm now down a total of 15.4lbs. as of this morning, that's 3.9lbs/week average. Things are going well over all, I haven't been able to really start working out again because of the grossness but I'm recovering a little more each day. Hopefully this week will be a little more productive. Thanks again for all the kind words of support,JI've created a point calculating web page for both Food and Activity Points here.I also keep forgetting to include my progess link.

Weak Three

Last week went well. I was able to over come the demon of sodium this week and not have any unexplainable gains. I've lost 11.4 lbs to date even though I ate out a lot. One day I was sure I was spending all my flex point son one meal but after I did the math I was dead on target, I might be finally getting the hang of this again. This week I'll go from "increased activity" to full on work outs at the gym so that'll be a change. If you noticed the spelling of week in my subject and are thinking I'm crazy, you're probably right, but I've got a bit of a nasty cold today which has left me feeling weak, achy, and cold. I laid off of work today, technically I'm working from home, so I don't spread the vile disease any further. Thanks for everyone's support,Jesse

Week Two

What a week! Apparently I learned the joys of sodium this week as I very suddenly put on more weight than I lost even though I was watching my points like a hawk. I then proceeded to use more flex points and once again eat reactively instead of planning/choosing my meals better but after all that I managed to loose a little more weight....a very little bit, less than a pound, but a loss is a loss so I'll take it.

Week One Summary

As of this Morning, I've lost 5.2 lbs. Not a bad start in my mind. I had a few times where I miscalculated points or forgot to count something but that'll come more naturally as time goes by. Over all I haven't been hungry or had any cravings...yet. I bought several cook books and supplies of 2 point or less snack items to have on hand in case of an emergency. I haven't had any problem making the switch to water, thanks to the Crystal Light Mix-in's but i do need to cut my reliance on them. This week I'll try to focus on planning my menu's ahead of time. This past week I kind of flew by the seat of my pants so there were some times when I made an incorrect snap decision that cut into my Flex points, however I still managed to make it through the week with about half of my flex points remaining.

Loosin' Weight in Oh-Eight

As some of you may already know, this Monday I began a "Life Style Change" (aka Diet). It's based on "the Watch's" points system but I've decided to skip the meetings and go solo, sort of. In an effort to keep myself honest and simulate the feed back of the meetings I'm making this post which *does not* includes an embedded Google Calendar page that shows my Food Diary and Daily progress. I'm intending to update the calendar in near real time and this post as I meet my goals. So if you'd like to help encourage/exhort me feel free to comment below.Edit: Well, I was hoping I could embed the calendar into this post so everyone could see it with out having to click a link or visit another page but apparently something about the HTML validation on the site won't seem to accept the iframe tag, so you're stuck with the link below. Sorry. You're welcome to see what I intended to do here, on my personal blog.My First Goal is 35 pounds
