It was a BLACK Friday (sad ending to the day)

We are home in one piece and grateful to God for a safe trip.We began to day by driving to Tyler. It was raining. Office Depot had more people in line than they had computers, and Walmart was a madhouse (they had all the areas roped off (and their map was useful and misleading!) We got very little of what we intended so drove on to Circuit City, where we hit the jackpot. (One guy showed us the regular section of movies and gameboy advance games ... and said they were either already out of the ones on sale, or they would just be mixed in with the others ... so just take what you want to the register, and if you don't like the price, leave it! We thought he must be kidding!!! So we started to get the phone we wanted and leave. I asked one other guy, who pointed me to the on-sale movies. When he moved to point, I saw a lady digging through a display box ... BINGO, there were the games!) We also picked up Webkinz at Walgreens. On the way back, we heard on the radio about the Wal...

Guess who played peek-a-boo with our daughter?

Our evening impromptu plans were so much better than my days earlier activities. We went to hear George Piro, the FBI agent who was the team leader in the 7 month interrogation of Saddam Hussein. It was a very interesting speech. After it was over, we met the neatest couple. We met him first. He came out of the door near where we were sitting in the lobby. He spotted Faith, who was playing with her stuffed white Yorkie. He played peek-a-boo with her and motioned for her to come over by him. While talking to her, he mentioned that he and his wife have a little dog like that. He asked Faith if she would like to meet their dog. She said, "Yes!" and he asked someone to get his wife to bring the dog over. He mentioned that their dog sometimes likes to "nip" and we also talked about his son's dog, Barney. Barney had gotten in a little trouble recently because he bit someone's finger. Anyway, she came over and let Faith play with her dog (Bibi) and spent t...

Tonight's Bible reading ...

Tonight's Bible reading was Genesis 5. After Faith read through the part where Cain killed Abel, she stopped and said, "That really wasn't very nice at all." We began discussing it, and the question was asked, "Why don't we kill our brother or sister?" Faith quickly responded, "Because we don't know how!" She changed her answer to a more appropriate one ... but not before we all got a good laugh!

I wish it had been a deer

Disclaimer & warning: a life perishedLast night we went to Parkview in Pasadena for the last night of their meeting. Traffic was really heavy on the way there, and we had to take a different route because of an accident. Anyway, we got there safely and enjoyed the meeting. On the way home, we stopped to grab burgers and go ... as we were walking out the door to the van, we decided to just eat the burgers there so Steve would not have to eat and drive. Traffic was a breeze through Houston! Steve commented how nice it was. As we continued on 290 northwest of Cy-Fair, we saw a BUNCH of squad cars ahead. It looked like they we crossing several lanes. As we got closer, we realized they were taking all the lanes, so we thought there must be a accident, and we would have to go on the shoulder. No ... they had shut down the freeway ... no wreck there ... ok, maybe there was construction ahead ... I wish! They had another squad closing the entrance ramp, and then we saw more squ...

It wiggled and it wiggled and it fin-ally

It wiggled and it wiggled and it fin-allyPOPPED OUT.It wiggled and it wiggled and it fin-allyPOPPED OUT.It wiggled and it wiggled and it fin-allyPOPPED OUT.Yes, her first tooth finally popped out!We were on our way to the meeting at Edna, when an excited voice piped up from the back seat ... "I think my tooth fell out!"It had been REALLY loose the last few days, and she pushed it out with her tongue! She was super excited!!!Then on the 2 hour trip home, we saw more potential road kill than we have EVER seen on a trip anywhere (including 18 hour trips to Florida). We saw 10 deer, one with antlers that started to cross our path but thought better of it, and 3 in a row that did cross the road in front of us. There were two raccoons, at least two opossum, one cat, one or two non identified things, and one armadillo that had the audacity or stupidity to run into our back tire! The other few things we saw had already met their fate, and we avoided one large piece o...
