"Dazzled" by Twilight~~?

So...I went to see Twilight last night. The theater was pretty much full, at least in the upper section, and our seats were good.I went in there knowing that it was a lower budget film, the special effects were not over-the-top (refer back to the lower budget part), and that it sorta looked like a TV show.Naturally, since I have read the whole series (and re-read some of them), I am one of those purists who really hope they stay completely true to the book, although I know that doesn't usually happen. I just really love this story and I don't like disappointment!I was not disappointed. True, visually, it is not like most of the movies out there now that we normally go to see. But aside from thinking, a couple of times, "That's not in the book", or "That didn't happen until later", etc. I did like it. I just couldn't help it. There was a guy there with his girlfriend (and he just happened to be sitting next to me), who was obviously forced into watching it, becaus...

--Made it through the play...don't have any pictures yet--Whew...this past week was a tough one, but I lived to tell the tale--Only two days of school this next week - Woot!**--THANKSGIVING is NEXT THURSDAY!! Again, I say, woot!** Yay for family and food!!--My son auditioned for a spot in Junior Beta Band and made it (doing vocal percussion - also known as beatboxing...not sure how he got inspired to ever learn that...ha ha! -and as a back up vocalist)!!--I'm getting into the holiday spirit, even though I don't have a lot of funds to work with yet, I'm still beginning to feel it, and may have to take in the Christmas open house this weekend (hey, it's a start)--Watching "Twilight" is still on my must-do list!!--I filled up my van and only paid $25.00 to do it. I don't remember the last time that happened, probably well over 3 years ago...? Whatever, I can get used to that so I'm praying it holds out for a while--I really need to make a doctor's appointment for mysel...

Roll Tide Roll!!

Crimson Tide No. 1 in Both the AP and USA Today Coaches PollI'm riding the Crimson Tide wave!!!Next stop...Louisiana!Halloween night was good, the weather was really good and comfortable. I dropped Erin off at the party she was invited to, and then we hit the neighborhoods. After I took the boys around a few places, we went to my brother's house for a while. They had their yard and porch decorated very spookily...I was afraid to walk on the yard, since there were a few graves evident and one looked to be fresh, there was still a shovel next to it! ha ha! Their house is pretty far out in the 'sticks', where there are no streetlights, etc. so part of the ride out there was a little creepy but not too bad! The boys didn't really want to leave, we were watching a scary movie part of the time while we were there, too. But everybody was tired when we got in and after eating just a little more candy, (I did get them something more substantial on the way home, though!) we hit the sack...

While Erin is at a party, I'm planning to take the boys trick-or-treating tonight, if all goes well. I plan to actually walk with them instead of driving everywhere, so at least I'll get my exercise before I go home and raid their bags for all the good stuff....that's what Halloween is all about, right?Have a great weekend!

Yet another week of school has come and gone. It was SO hard getting up to go last Monday...and then hard again on Friday when it was raining outside, the kind that makes you just want to stay in bed or curled up reading a good book! But I got up anyway, although I did get a little later start than usual that day.The kids got report cards Wed. Let's just say we'll all work harder this next quarter! :) Our meeting with Bob Hutto went very well. As usual, he did a great job presenting the lessons and they were very beneficial and thought-provoking. There will be CD's available and they might can be downloaded from the website at some point, but I'm not sure. (Sorry I'm not more informative!)This next weekend is Halloween...and as usual, I have no idea what my kids are going to dress up like. Long ago and far away in time, we used to plan these things out...but through the years and with more children, more activities and busy-ness in our lives, most of the time they end up throwing...

At Hillcrest Orchards, where we got some delicious apples and pumpkin butter! The kids also enjoyed a big slide here. Most of the kids, at Amicalola Falls (trust me, the falls are behind/below them!) later that day.It feels good to be back home, but we enjoyed our visit! The weather here started out on the gloomy side this morning but it has turned out to be a beautiful sunny afternoon, with temperatures in the high 60's! At last!!We are having a gospel meeting at Jackson Drive this next week, find all the details here and come if you're in the area and available! School starts back again on Monday, but the Thanksgiving holidays are only 6 weeks away!! :D

FALL BREAK

We are in Georgia for a few days this week.Yesterday we went up into the mountains to an apple orchard, a pumpkin patch and then went to Amicalola Falls. The weather was perfect. Erin got some really good pictures but probably won't be able to get them onto the computer until we get back home. We had a good time, got some apples, cider and other yummy things. Even though Erin and Jonah sneezed through a good portion of the hay ride, I think they enjoyed it. :) We were able to visit with Holly on Sunday night at Oak Mountain, and went to the Bailey's for chili after services (yum!). Things seem to be going well for her down in Birmingham, which makes me glad!!More later, I actually need to be wearing my glasses, so if there are any typos, please excuse them!

Jonah and the big fish!

My younger boys got to go fishing with their dad this weekend at their granddaddy's pond and Jonah snagged a big bass! Luckily it was captured on camera:According to eyewitnesses, the fish weighed in at 5 lbs. and measured 21" in length! Unfortunately it could not be kept for posterity's sake, so at the present time it has been decapitated, filleted and is now in Grandma's freezer until a later date when it will be consumed with a few other similar items. :)I just had to post this, he was so proud of that! Plus, I couldn't resist giving it that title.Roll Tide! Bama remains undefeated after their win over Kentucky yesterday 17-14 (just in case anyone missed that bit of news...)******************************************************************Are you in earnest? Seize this very minute! What you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Only engage, and then the mind grows heated.Begin, and then the work will be completed.~Joh...

Peace is not the absence of stress but the ability to deal with stress in the right way. That's what we should want. - Gary Henry

I am more than ready for a break, it feels like we've been in school for half my life already this year. Not that it hasn't had its enjoyable moments, but...the break is just really appealing to me right now. Lots of things going on mentally and psychologically, and I need to get away to clear my head. I also need some big 'good times' with my kids. I wish they could ALL be home during the break, but that's not to be. For that reason, Thanksgiving is my next big focal point!! :)I watched part of the VP debate last night and I am not any closer to a decision than I have been the last few weeks.Alabama plays Kentucky tomorrow, that should be a good game, and of course I'll be cheering on my Tide...but probably in front of the TV, not the computer. But I'm excited about the webcast, anyway!"Beware of allowing the discernment of wrong in another to blind you to the fact that you are what you are by the grace of God." ~Oswald ChambersHave a great weekend!
