Visiting Ireland

Well, here I am on my visit to Ireland...not really, but I'm still technically in country. We are having a lay-over in Ireland right now. While going through training in Wisconsin, I didn't have internet access, but I am on my way to the desert and the terminal here in Ireland has Wi-Fi, so I am online during our 5 hour layover. Next stop, the desert. I won't be at the base I will be serving at for a few more days probably, but I will still be in the desert. I can't wait to get there and start getting closer the date I get to return home, but I am also excited just to be there. One of the reasons I joined the AF was to see the world, and this will be a new pin on my map of places I've been in the world. I am also so excited to be doing my part in serving my country and protecting everyone back home and those that don't have the means to protect themselves elsewhere. I hope everyone is doing well and I will post more about the desert once I'm there. I love you Vanessa and I can...

Off to the Sandbox to play with all the Children

I found out yesterday that I will be leaving for the desert in less than a month. For security reasons, I am not allowed to disclose the location of where I am going over there or the exact time frame, just that I will be leaving in less than a month and will be gone through April somewhere in the Middle East. Please pray for me and especially for Vanessa as we are apart. This came up very suddenly and Vanessa and I haven't been back together very long since our time apart when I was at Basic Training and Tech School.

North Carolina is Hot

So things are going great. I love our house (technically a condo), it is so cool. My job is going good and I really like it. I've been getting a lot more responsibility than the other airmen because I am showing them that I will work hard. We went to the Outer Banks a week ago from last Friday and it was so beautiful. We didn't get to spend a whole lot of time out there cause we didn't get there till late in the afternoon, but it was still a lot of fun with my parents. The ferry to the Outer Banks is only $10 a person and they take you out to the islands. They have an island that no one lives on, but there are about 130 wild horses that roam the island. They are descendants of horses brought over by the Spanish in the late 1700s and early 1800s and their ships crashed on the shoals. There are also several lighthouses to see out there. The ocean is so beautiful from the island we went to. The main commercialized beach that most people go to is a couple miles south of the isla...

So it's been a long time

So it has been awhile since I've updated...and a lot has happened. Vanessa and I finally arrived at Seymour Johnson AFB, NC and we are now in a place of our own. We also finally got all our stuff last Monday...the last week has been busy getting everything set up. Vanessa has been doing most of the unpacking while I've been working and she is making our house soooo beautiful. We still have a fair amount of stuff to unpack and organize, but the kitchen and living room are complete (except for pics on the walls) and we have over half of our room done. We don't have hardly anything done in the guest room and we still have stuff to do in our room, but it is starting to come together. 4th of July wkend, heading up to see the parental units in Ohio. We are going camping at lake Gaston the last wkend of July as well. Hope everything is going well. Can't wait for August 30th!!!!! (anyone know why?)

Graduation!

So I am sitting here at the schoolhouse waiting for our graduation ceremony to start. We had to get here at 0730 hrs, but we aren't starting practice until 0800 hrs, so I decided to post a new blog. Basic Military Training (BMT) and Tech School have been long and I am ready to get back with my wife. My plane doesn't leave till Tuesday morning because I have to finish some outprocessing stuff on Monday, but I land in Norfolk, VA at 1700 hrs Tuesday. Next Sunday, the 18th, Vanessa and I are going to Williamsburg, VA for a week vacation before heading to Seymour Johnson AFB, NC on the 24th. I found out Wednesday that there is a 2 year wait for base housing at Seymour Johnson AFB, so we have begun apartment hunting off base. There are a few opening up, but not until the 2nd week of June, so for the first 2-3 wks, we are going to be living in temporary housing on base. Hopefully we can find a place that we both will like a lot and get moved in as soon as possible. I can't wait to mo...

Yes, I am still Alive!

So, I haven't posted on here in ages. Of course you have been able to keep up with what has been going on with me some from my wife's posts. I was at Basic Military Training (Air Force Boot Camp) for 6 and a half weeks. I graduated March 14th and am now at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. Things are going pretty well. My job in the AF is Operations Management...basically, I'm a paper pusher. Not too happy with the job assignment, but I am going to be applying for OTS (Officer Training School) as soon as I get out of Tech School, and I am also going to be trying to cross train into a different career field at the same time.As most of you have heard, I was supposed to get to go to Kadena AFB, Japan. I was so pumped about going...I want to travel/live all over the world. This past Tuesday, the Air Force came back and said they decided to not let me extend my enlistment, which they would have to do in order to allow me to go to Japan, and that they were reassigning me state-sid...

So, Life Could Not Be Better

So I'm a married man now, and I have to say I have only been this happy once before (when I was baptized and that was a different happy). We just got back about 45 mins ago from our Honeymoon in Gatlinburg, TN and I had to get on and check the scores of my Aggies (Vanessa wouldn't let me watch any sports while we were gone...lol). Unfortunately, I have found that my Aggies aren't doing so hot in my away time, but it was definitely worth not watching them to be with her. I leave Wednesday for Basic Training, so I am going to be a little busy the next few days getting ready for that and spending as much time as possible with my wife (so cool to get to call her my wife now. Hope everyone is doing good.
