First day of school.....

Good morning everyone. Well, all my kids started school today. This is officially my first kid-free day. They all did great this morning, even Emma. She went right in to her classroom put her backpack on her chair, sat down, and started the project her teacher had on her table. Then with a hug and kiss I was on my way. No tears for me yet....that is the weird part, I cry every year they go to school. On other years I have been walking down the hall in tears. I think I have been dreading it for so many weeks now that it is finally here it actually doesn't feel real.I feel sad and it doesn't feel right with no kids here with me but no tears. Strange.Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well.

Life is changing...

We have enjoyed the last couple of weeks of summer. We have had some quiet days and some busy days and I am sad it is coming to an end.We took our baby to "meet the teacher" day at school today. They call "role" and the kids go up a line up behind the teacher. Then they go to the classroom and on a tour of the school. When Emma's name was called she went right up in front of all the parents and got in line....then off she was with her class. Come Tuesday, life is going to change a lot around here and I am not sure I am ready for is. I keep having this feeling something is not right. Stacy is having the same feeling. Weird. Hopefully I will get into a routine and get used to having no kids to take care of during the day. I have such compassion for those of you who have sent your kids off to college....I am having a hard time sending my to school. On a happier note, a young man named Patrick was baptized on Tuesday night. Stacy has been studying with h...

crazy summer....

Whoever thinks summer is going to be a relaxing time is crazy! Life here has been crazy since the kids got out to school. Stacy's younger brother, his wife, and 2 little girls came to see us for 9 days. It was great to spend time with them. Seven days later we left for NC. Stacy's mom has a cabin down there. We can stay for free and I can cook our meals so it is in inexpensive vacation for us and we enjoyed our time there. We got back Friday night so we could be here for a picnic one of the members from another congregation put together. I am looking forward to nothing to do this week except to get my house back in order. Geneva Russell died on July 4th at the age of 102. We got the call right before fireworks in the mountains. I trust she is in a better place but I will miss her. She meant a lot to me.We got Big Blue back after a month of being gone. It is so great to have room for everyone to sit again.Hope everyone is having a great summer. So looking forward t...

Hello....

Thought I would stop in and update a little.Life around here never stops...always from one thing to the next. Only next week left for the kids at school. I can not wait till it's over. Monday is Field Day at the elementary school. Stacy has headed it up for the last 3 years and I have been in charge of the volunteers. So we have been trying to get that all together over the last few days. I'll be glad to have that done Monday. It is suppose to be 98 degrees so it will be a warm one!I think someone needs to tell the weather patterns around here they are about 2 months early. We have had high 90's for the last 2 days are it is suppose to be 100, 101, 98, etc. for the next 5 days. That is late July-August weather! The air is so thick you could cut it with a knife and serve it up on a plate for supper. YUCK and again I say YUCK!Sister Russell made it past her 102nd birthday. How many people can say that? It is really something.Big Blue is still not back. I hope maybe ne...

Good news....

Well, they finally looked at our van today. It's not totaled, which is wonderful news for us....there was $6100 damage. They said it would be 15 days or so till it is done. So hopefully the kid's coverage will be enough to continue to pay for a rental for us....we don't have rental car on our insurance policy. I am just so thankful they will fix it....we all miss "Big Blue"!Bailey's finger is the same. There has been no change either way. As long as it's not getting worse, it's good news. Thanks for asking!Only 11 days till school is out here for the summer! I can't wait for it to be over! One of our elderly members is not doing well. If she makes it till Saturday she will be 102! She stopped eating last Friday so I don't think she will make it much longer. She is such a sweet, funny, tiny, little lady and it saddens me so deeply to know she will be gone soon.Hope everyone is doing well!

Still sore....

Well, day number 2 after the crash. Still sore. I guess if I am not much better on Tuesday I will have to think about seeing a Chiropractor. Will see. Thanks for all the kind words.Any one see the new Indy movie? We saw it today and I was disappointed....it was ok but didn't blow me away....could have done without the language that is for sure. We got the tickets for free so at least we didn't have to pay for it! Hope most of you have Monday off and enjoy your long weekend.

Count your blessings...

Yesterday we were reminded to count our blessings. Emma and I went to pick Nickolas up from school, along with Jonathan and Diana Chapman. When we were headed home, the traffic in front of us stopped quickly, I stopped but the kid behind us did not. This 18 year old kid hit us and hit us hard. He smashed us into the car in front of us who then hit the person in front of them.....4 car accident within a split second. Thankfully, none of us were seriously hurt.....a couple of the kids had some neck pain last night and mine has been pretty sore today but nothing serious that we know of. The lady in front of us was taken away in the ambulance but I don't know if she was really seriously hurt. "Big Blue", that is what the kids call our blue Chevy Express Van, is smashed in the front and back. We have spent a lot of time on the phone with insurance companies today....we found out it is possible they could "total" it. We are really hoping that isn't what happens. ...

Good to be home.....

The boys and I had such a wonderful time in Ohio this weekend. It was a crazy busy weekend but the boys' definitely got their "money's worth". For those of you who don't know, the boys and I went to the Akron, Ohio area for a banquet put together by Christians up there. We told them if they paid for the trip, I would take them. They saved their money and we went. The girls and Dad had the weekend together here at home. The boys got to spend time with many of the kids they go to camp with every year and they had a blast. The banquet was Friday night, Saturday we went to the Cleveland Zoo and the Cleveland Indian's game, then Sunday we worshiped in 2 different congregation and spend more time with friends. It was a whirlwind weekend full of wonderful memories. It was well worth the drive! The Ullmans and Ferrys were kind enough to put us up for the weekend which made it even more special. I got to know many of the kids better then I had before which was neat. I also...

Yet another update on Bailey...

Good morning to all.....I took Bailey to her Doctor appointment late afternoon yesterday. The finger looksabout the same still slightly red and the knuckle is still slightly swollen. The Doctordecided at this point all we can do is take her off the antibiotic and see what happens.Either it will slowly continue to get better or it will get worse. If it gets worse, we willthen have to get an orthopedic surgeon involved again to get a piece of the bone tobiopsy. It is possible the oral antibiotics is just keeping it from getting worse but willnot get rid of the infection, either way we will find out by taking her off. The Doctorbelieves whatever is going to happen it will happen slowly, so it may be weeks or monthsbefore we see change either way. I am glad she is off the stronger antibiotics, 6 weeks plus,is a long time. Of course, while we were waiting for the Doctor she was telling me how herear had been hurting during the day. (she has had a cold & sinus stuff goi...

Update on Bailey

Good morning to everyone,I wanted to give you all another update on Bailey. I took her to the infectious disease doctor on Monday afternoon. He thought her finger looked some better but there is still redness and swelling which are indicators the infection is stillthere. He wants to keep her on the higher dose antibiotics for another 2 weeks and see how it looks then. At thattime if it is still not better we will probably need to call in an Orthopedic surgeon again to get a piece of the boneto find out what specific infection is causing this so we can specialize the antibiotics. Of course, I will start lookingfor a NEW Orthopedic in the meantime. I did ask him about what the Ortho doctor saidabout the infection could flair up years down the line and he didn't agree with that. He said our goal is to get rid ofthis infection. He did say that sometimes does happen in rare cases when the infection is in one of the big bones andthe patient has other health issues such as, di...
