Holly has a CAT scan on Mon. the doctor wanted to make sure the lymph glands are not affected by the tumor. Holly has a wonderful attitude about this whole thing and has been given so much encouragement and peace of mind by all those who are encouraging her. I leave Wed. for Phoenix for Kaylie's 3rd birthday, but will cut that trip short if Holly needs me here to help her with the girls. Our daughter-in-law Holly found a mass on the front side and under her arm a month or so ago. She had her sonogram this morning, they sent her into have a mamogram right after. Which showed a 8 cm tumor, she will need a biopsy to see if it is cancer. The Radiologist told her that he has never seen a tumor this large on a woman her age and that he was very concerned about it. I will let you all know as soon as I know more. I told Holly this morning that everything would be ok, and told her if it isn't ok, then they will find what is needed and treat it and make it ok. Please keep Holly and Chuck in your prayers. Elaine's maintenance chemo was stopped due to her kidney functions. I think it is her right kidney has only 20 or 25% function. After many test and long hours of waiting for a reason why. The dye used to do the scans to check for the growth of her cancer spots is one thing that has damaged her kidney, then add the cancer treatments also damaged the kidney. They put Elaine on a very restricted diet which they have adjusted since then. The kidney specialist told Elaine that they had to get the chemo going again. He told her not to worry about the kidney's that he would take care of them. She may have to go on dialysis if things continue this way. Elaine's attitude is still positive. They have taken a small apartment in Kansas City where Doug works. They are usually home on the weekends. This has been a difficult road for Elaine as it is for all those who suffer with cancer. She came by to let us see one of her twins and to order some Christmas bows for her 3 daughters. This woman has had so many losses as a young woman, her dad died when she was a young girl. She also lived through a mom who was married multiple times where she also saw many stepfathers leave her home. And a few years ago her husband Jo went to Iraq when his little boy Micah was 3 weeks old. Jo was killed right before Thanksgiving just months later. This young mother was strong for herself and her son. She is now married to a very nice man who serves his country proudly. Well, one of our worst fears was realized this morning about 7:15am as Greg's cell phone rang and it was my oncologist calling to let me know that they believed that my cancer had come back and there was a "small hot spot" that had shown up on my PET scan. After relooking at my CT scan and comparing the 2, they now see the same area on my CT scan that they had previously missed. The area is in my lower left pelvic area and we don't know the exact size except that they believe it to be fairly small. We don't really even have a real clear idea of exactly where the spot is, only that the report said it was adjacent to my bladder? My husband has been preaching for almost 34 yrs. We provide our own insurance, and had not been able to find any who would cover me. We finally found a high risk insurance, but very expensive.
