Thanksgiving...

I'm so glad that this week is Thanksgiving, but my reasons are very selfish. I want to eat lots of good food, get 5 days off in a row, and get something done around my house! I also have my first of 2 tests for my certification on Saturday, so I will be cramming lots during my days off.Tomorrow will be good, because I get to worship my God, maybe get a little nap, and have someone else cook my lunch!! Monday will be good because my biology class is going to be doing a fun "whodunit" lab with chromotography and blood typing (fake blood, of course), and if we have extra time, we'll be watching CSI--we are studying biotechnology right now. My other class will be discussing electricity, so that's not too boring either! :) Monday night I'll go to dinner with my sister, Lord willing, and maybe grab a few groceries. Tuesday, my bio class will finish the crime lab with DNA fingerprinting, and more CSI, and I'm leaving at lunch time to go to Jacob's school for a Thanksgiving ...

God's Providence

I always knew that God takes care of us, and that he has a plan, but it is always so encouraging when you see Him working in your life. The last year has been a roller coaster, but I have finally (I hope!) gotten off the ride. Most of you don't know this, but my husband left me and my boys last October. He adamantly denied that he was seeing anyone else, and would come and go, leaving me and the boys in a constant state of limbo. He came home in June, and I thought that he really wanted to work on things, but he was only home for about 2 months before he was ready to leave again. Only this time, he finally admitted that he had been having an affair for the last "year or two"???!!!!??? The only thing that kept me sane at that point was knowing that at least I wasn't in the dark anymore, and that if there was a divorce, it would be scriptural. I want my boys to know that God hates divorce--He always has, and He always will. It should not be so easy for people to just gi...

Another post??

I know, I know. I go for months without a post, and now 3 in a matter of days? I just wanted to post that I took Jacob to school this morning, so the school year has officially begun. He was holding on to my shirt for dear life and being soooo silly and "shy" (yeah, right) until his friend Caleb showed up and then it was "Bye, Mom." That quick. I hope and pray that this will be another great school year. Too bad Tanner wants to go to school now, he has 2 more years to go...Have a good rest of the week...Deanna

Here's your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our faith in God, as a nation. NBC is taking a poll on 'In God We Trust' to stay on our American currency. Please send this to every Christian you know so they can vote on this important subject. Please do it right away, before NBC takes this off the web page. MSNBC poll is still open so you can vote. Just click on OR copy and paste this address: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10103521/ Right now it is 64% for keeping 'In God We Trust' and 36% against. It's nice to know that for once I'm in the majority!

It's that time again...

School starts here on Wednesday. Jacob doesn't seem to be super-excited about starting 1st grade, but he is happy that his best friend, Caleb, is going to be in his class again. I was wondering how much subbing I would be doing at the beginning of the year...I didn't think many teachers would be missing the first couple weeks of school. Well, like I said, school starts Wednesday, and I am already subbing on Friday (for Jacob's aide from last year who is moving her daughter into college that day), and they called me this morning to see if I could come next Monday and Tuesday to help in the classroom while the 1st grade teachers do observations with all of their new students. So, I guess they do need subs year-round. Also, I am excited that my sister and I are going to see Dave Ramsey in Charleston on Saturday. This is part of my Christmas present from my mom. I am looking forward to listening to what he's got to say and I'm excited about getting some financial peace in this hou...

It is storming pretty badly here now, so this is just a quick note to let everyone know that Keri is having a c-section tomorrow at 12:30. Please keep her and the baby in your prayers!Deanna

It's been sooo long...

I just realized that it has been 4 months since my last post. I am still breathing, but I have just been super busy. I have been keeping up fairly well with everyone's blogs, and have commented some (not much), but I just haven't made the time to sit down and update in way too long. Since I last wrote, my oldest turned 6, my youngest turned 3, I turned 31 (yikes!), I have become an aunt again (twice!!), and I have been working usually at least 3 days a week as a sub at the elementary school, sometimes more. I realize (a little late in the game perhaps) that I LOVE to teach! That realization, along with some other changes that are happening in my life, have prompted me to figure out a way to teach (or at least be an assistant) full-time. I hadn't actually planned to work full-time until Tanner started school, but things change, and a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do, huh? Anyway, I have many irons in the fire, and I am waiting to see what pans out--I know that God will di...

I made it...

I made it through my first day as a substitute teacher today. I was actually only the Instructional Assistant in a kindergarten class, so I was mainly a helper and a gopher. I really liked it, but I am a little worried about being the only teacher in a classroom by myself. I'm sure I can handle it, but I am glad that I didn't get thrown to the dogs on my first day. It sounds like they are going to keep my busy, because a lot of teachers that I know saw me in the hallway and would say things like, "I didn't know you were subbing now. Give me your number before you leave, OK?" There is definitely a lot of sickness going around, so I will probably get used often over the next couple of weeks until the sickness runs its course. Of course, the best news is that we are finally over the sickies around here. We all had it last week. That is the first time that I have been sick in a while. I even ran a fever, that is so odd for me. I think we are all on the mend (both boy...
