lazy Saturday

Today we had nothing on the calendar. A lazy Saturday - it's been great! And, it was a long time coming. I don't like being too busy, and lately we have been.I cleaned the toilets today while Nora napped. It feels good to have them nice and clean. Anyway, it got me thinking about maintaining a better schedule for cleaning the house. I have attempted to do this in the past with no success. I usually just clean on a "need-to-clean" basis, like when we have company or when something gets so dirty that I can't stand it. ;) I'd love some advice. How do you keep your house clean? Do you keep a schedule of some kind? And, how do you stay motivated to get it all done? Some areas of the house I clean on a daily basis, but other areas get neglected! :)Back to enjoying my lazy Saturday... we're having pizza tonight!

I'm another year older today :) So far, it's been a great day. Nora and I were invited to a fun playdate this morning. Then, Myron came home with sweet gifts: I've already sampled the cake - it's delicious! He bought a Belle cake because, in my opinion, Beauty and the Beast is the best Disney animated film ever made. Tonight we're going to Cheesecake Factory. I can't wait!

A Shout Out to the Scouts!!

Santa Clause came to my house yesterday. He came in the form of a sweet young Girl Scout. She brought Girl Scout cookies to our house, and it made my day! I consumed WAY too many calories last night! :) Nora had some bites of a Thin Mint, and she absolutely loved it! I find comfort in the fact that even though she may never look like me, we will always share a passion for Thin Mints!

a V-day date!

I'm very excited today! So excited!! I have a date with my husband tonight, and we're going to one of my most favorite restaurants! Those who know me well know exactly where we are going. We go there for almost every special occasion. Tonight we dine at The Melting Pot!!It's been a while. The last time we were there together was June of '06. I was pregnant and by dessert I was so full that I had to finish eating standing up! I have never been so wonderfully full in my life :)So, tonight while Nora has a good 'ole time with Gma, we will be:- Dipping bread and apples in warm cheddar cheese- Eating salad with delicious dressing and seasoning salt- Cooking meat & veggies with yummy sauces- Devouring wonderful chocolate with fruit, marshmallows, & cakeThank you to my husband who has come to enjoy this restaurant almost as much as I do. Who is willing to order the same combination of appetizer, main course and dessert each time (What can I say? I know what I like!), and who...

Computer Woes

Can anyone tell me why my laptop computer shut down on me Monday night and now won't restart?? When I press the power button, it begins to start up, but then immediately shuts off. We keep the laptop plugged in almost all the time, so the battery should be charged, although the battery light that usually comes on when it's charging is not coming on. Is the battery dead??I just wanted to put this out here in case anyone has a solution for me.... please help!

Going Gold in 2008

Happy New Year!!Myron and I agreed that with all the pictures and personal info I share, that I should go gold and make most of my entries private. Please let me know if you normally check my blog and I will be glad to add you to my friends list!I have lots I want to share from the Holidays, but for now I'm just focusing on getting well. I returned from St. Louis with a nasty cold that I still haven't been able to shake! I'm happy to report that today I can breathe (what a welcomed change!), but I still have no voice. I never realized what a challenge it is to be a sick mom. Even though you aren't feeling well, you still have to take care of someone else! I've had some great help to get me through! Nora has been cracking me up - I have to talk to her in a whisper, and a few times a day she whispers back like we're playing a game or something :)

Oh, Christmas Tree!

I have many fond childhood memories of the Christmas season. Some of my favorite times were when my family would go out and buy a Christmas tree. My parents would set it up at the house, and we'd all decorate it together. We always bought a real tree. I don't think I even realized that some trees were artificial! I love the look, smell, and feel of a real tree. It's what I grew up with!Since we've been married, Myron and I have continued the tradition of buying a real tree. Until this year. Partly because we have a small child walking around our house right now :), and partly because we will be in St. Louis on the 25th, we made the decision to buy an artificial tree this year. I agreed to this plan only under the condition that this is not a permanent change! Next year, we plan to go back to the "real thing"! :)We put our tree together yesterday and I must admit it looks better than I thought it would. But, I still long for a real tree!I'm curious to know if I'm alone...
