Randomness

I went to get my driver's license renewed this morning. It costs $20 now in Kentucky. Is this average, or high? I will say it was the easiest DMV experience I have ever had. I took a book expecting to wait. There is always a wait in IL. Wow, I was in and out in about 10 minutes.I did a little shopping too. I got myself a Peanuts Christmas coloring book and box of 64 crayons. I haven't had my own crayons in years, but it seems like it will be fun. Am I weird?I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. I have the day off work. Surprise. I didn't even ask for it. We're going to my in-laws. Can't travel because unfortunately I work at 5 am black Friday. I really don't like getting up that early. Sometimes I hate having a job that revolves around Christmas, but I guess these days I am truly blessed to have mine. Also, I am starting to like the re-useable shopping bag idea. I resisted at first because I don't believe in global warming and in no way wish to promote it. However,...

Fireproof

I dragged my hubby to see the movie Fireproof yesterday. Actually, I had to bribe him with chocolate chip cookies. It was a fantastic movie. It's rated PG for some of the fire scenes. But there is no bad language, and no nudity. It actually has a spritual message regarding marriage. I like to support movies like that when they come out, so Hollywood might produce more family friendly movies, and less trash. I guess trash is what makes money for them. SAD.The movie stars Kirk Cameron. I had a teenage crush on him. My bedroom walls were plastered with pics of him. Fortunately, I outgrew that. I was very impressed with the message of this movie though. Go see it!

FOCAL POINT"Set your mind on things above" (Col. 3:2).-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- November 1, 2008 "The intense prayer of the righteous is very powerful" (James 5:16 HCSB). Our nation faces a stark choice this Tuesday, November 4th, in electing the next President. It will have moral and even spiritual impact on the direction of our country and on the lives of Christians and their families for years to come. For personal consideration, one suggested internet analysis and comparison from a Biblical worldview perspective is at www.citizenlink.org/FOSI. The Bible repeatedly urges believers in God that their prayers can achieve great things for God. James writes to Jewish Christians suffering many trials (Ja 1:2, 5:13), and the context of chapter 5 is unjust, ruthless treatment of wealthy landowners who rob and viciously hurt poor Christian laborers (Ja 5:1-6). Then some are spiritually sick o...

Finally...some pictures

This picture is the outside of the cabin. It looked a little prettier on the website. This is the outdated, broken furniture. Cabin definitely had cute potential. I guess it's supposed to be a fishing cabin, and more for guys. It was comfy, and we really weren't there that much, so it was fine after I got over the initial surprise. I share my name with a bay. Pretty cool. I don't appreciate the grafitti on my sign.

I'm still alive

The trip was fun. The cabin where we stayed was, well, rustic. Oh it was a comfy place to stay, it wasn't exactly what I was expecting when we first drove up. It was between two dilapidated looking trailers. I felt like I was in Beverly Hillbillies, before they got Beverly Hills. The furniture was from the 1970's and falling apart. The springs in the couch were broken, so it was really hard to get up after sitting there for a while. Anyway, we found a Walmart (can't go on vacation without checking out the local Walmart) and bought food, so we didn't have to eat out so much. Saturday we visited the Land Between the Lakes park area. It took most of the day to see everything they offer. (Pics to come later) I have a bay named after me and had my picture taken at the sign "Ginger Bay". (Just an aside....people in the south say they got their picture made. In IL we say picture taken. Just something I've noticed since living here.) Sunday we visited a congragation in Big ...

Happy October

The weather is cooling off and I love it. As I was leaving work tonight I commented on the fall feeling in the air and someone said they were freezing. THE TEMP WAS 65!This weekend is my 5th anniversary. We're going to Land Between the Lakes (KY and TN) to celebrate. We rented a cute little cabin in Tennessee. Booking it has been an adventure in itself. I called last week to book it for Oct 3-5. The owner said she would email directions to me. I had to call to remind her of that since I had never received anything. Tonight when I finally got them she had me booked for the following weekend. AHHH! I called her and got it straightened out, I think. I'm hoping the actual visit goes well.
