Language Barrier.

I said this facetiously to my oriental professor in Inorganic Chemistry:"Actually I was just going to copy his presentation and turn that in."My professor said, "Oh, good!" Sigh.

Election Day '08

"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment...Pay to all what is owed them...respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed." Rom. 13"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved." Phil 3:20-4:1

What happened to us and our presidents?

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice ? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."T...

Bowling Green is Beautiful

It's fall.I get to crunch through softly colored leaves, feel the perfect equilibrium of bright sunshine and a cool breeze on my skin, and look around to see the halos of sunshine light up leaves and hair...it really makes everything look so clean...Also, I love the people in my organic chemistry class. They have such un-self-conscious goodness --- easy friendliness with each and every other student, excellent work ethic, unabashed excitement about the subject --- Today as I was leaving class I made eye contact with a girl (I didn't even know her name before now)...she smiled and came up to tell me how excited she was about what we were learning. Imagine that! There is such an exchange of respect and friendliness between teacher and students, too. So cool.P.S. The hike was huge fun; Holly was almost eaten by a bear...not fun, but exciting afterward, yes. Woke up during the night after the incident (to adjust myself atop an obnoxious rock digging into my side) when I heard a b...

I think...I should rescind my last comments

Today, the previously quoted individual showed an effort to cooperate and to encourage understanding......and the comments I repeated in my last post were unfairly given out of context and without details/background, so were probably less offensive than they sound in my writing. Also,it pays to be respectful in discussions. Also, it doesn't pay not to be respectful when referring back to the discussion in the company of different people. Also,it's good to be straightforward and open with people even if they might take issue with what's said.

I think

many liberals are closed-minded and self-contradictory.Also,I was told today that I should go back to the school where I came from where I'll hear what I want to hear. Also,I received a coolly given insult to my educational background.

My Wonderful Sister

You know I raise my teachers to ethereal esteem, but I must devote this ode of recognition to my dearest most awesome sister who cleaned the kitchen, washed the car, went to Walmart and bought me my charger and batteries, went to class, retrieved her purse from the local high school receptionist, went bargain food shopping at the local discount food mart, got a new car tire and rotated the other one, and watched a movie, cooked dinner and did homework, all in one day. She is my hero. :).....I think I want to build a molecular structure to memorialize her greatness and name it after her...oh...she also called the landlord and had him come fix the sink which he did quite expeditiously, but that was yesterday....She also argued with her teacher in class to no avail (due to the female/male language barrier), that a construction detail he presented was not a good detail under the known industry principles, until a fellow male classmate acted as translator and explained what she said all ...

Dirty Dish Water Stinks.

...In more ways than one! The cabinet under our sink has been collecting the leakage. I looked under there...and...well...the pipe is completely disconnected at one joint. Not sure how that happened??

I thought I got over my infatuation with teachers...

...I really did.But no.Some people ride roller coasters for their dose of adrenaline thrill. Some people seek out danger by sky-diving, cliff-climbing, or exploring the depths of pitch black caverns. Some people move across the country and turn into rough and ready cowboys. Some people drive through car washes.I sit wide-eyed in class with my mentally nominated hero teacher of the year --- thoughts rushing through my head about every perfected technique, every indication of that absolute confidence possessed by the master teacher. My whole being is in shuddering awe at the passion and concern he holds for the intellectual success of every single student.I have felt guilty because at least one of my heroes of the past was a good-looking, athletic young man with a beautiful British accent. He held the hero title for 4 years in a row. I was, let's say...over the top with my enthusiasm. This time, I feel justified. My new hero, who, by the way, almost made me cry because of his n...
