Its the first day of christmas!

Since this is the first christmas in many years that im not in retail purgatory, i am starting the season with joy!my friend ondroodle had to work the day after thanksgiving in the MALL OF AMERICA! moment of silence for my fallen comrade. Ha! And she thought that working at lifeway in Bowling green was bad.Im also enjoying the football (roll tide!) and basketball (roll tide, go blazers) seasons. I like sports. And by that i mean real sports, not baseball. I tried to get into Cricket and Rugby, but i guess it was a lost in translation thing. Although, i do love an athletic hottie with and english accent. Never underestimate the accent.Well, that's all. Goodbye.

Talk about the weather

Thanks for the feedback on my last post, and please share more if you want._____________________________________So, its finally officially cold here in Kentucky. Greg is rejoicing, but he doesnt have little stick arms and legs that have horrible circulation. It's gotten to the point where i do a toe and finger check when i get home from school to make sure none of them has popped off. I honestly don't see how y'all up north stand it. Illinois, Minnesota!! To me that's like you should get government funding for exploration of frozen environs. That's not a bad idea, someone should look into that. I guess the same funding could go to my southern brethren during the summertime too. The biggest problem with it being cold here is that it still won't snow till after Christmas. Grr. If i have to become heather-four-toes than i should at least get a white christmas. Anyway, how's the weather where you are?

Hedgies

im asking for a hedgehog for my birthday or christmas and have found some breeders in kentucky that will have some available by that time. I have a name picked out but will have to see if it fits the little guy. I've wanted a puppy for years but every time i begin to seriously consider it, i feel pre-guilt over the smallness of my apartment and not having a yard. So, a little creature that would love nothing more than to live in a series of tubes and wheels sounds great! The internet is a series of tubes according to one convicted alaska state senator, but that's not the tubes im referring to.I have no other news. I could babble on about my immediate feelings and what i've been thinking about lately but im feeling a little cynical as to the reader response it would bring so i will end with a question. What would you name a hedgehog if you were fortunate enough to get one?

Many said it would never happen. We were told we would make it some day, but slowly year after year the hope faded away. There were flashes of greatness but they were often snuffed out as quickly as they appeared. But tonight, we saw history made.ALABAMA BEAT LSU...IN OVERTIME!!!what did you think i was referring to?

Its just beautiful here today

I don't know if its global warming or the fact that we have a new president to look forward to, but the world just seems sunny and smiley out today. The leaves in all their jewel-toned glory turn the world into a fairyland. And i've always wanted to be a fairy, so i feel at home. except that i no longer have any fairy wings because they were either given away or destroyed the last time i moved. my friend heather let me borrow her pair, but its not the same. So, i know what i want for my birthday. Or veterans day, or thanksgiving. whenever people want to shower me with gifts.Ooh! I could throw myself a your-not-having-a-baby-yet-but-maybe-someday-if-things-drastically-change-emotionally-spiritually-and-financially shower! And you could all get me presents. that sounds like a great idea. yep, that's the way to go. i'll make a list and post it asap.I feel like the shower should definitely include a cheese table of some sort.

THE REAL SUPER TUESDAY

We get to vote soon, vote soon, vote soon, we get to vote soon lalalalaaaa. (that's my we get to vote soon song. I have a dance that goes with it, but that's harder to type accurately.)The point is, on Tuesday you should go vote. If you do, it says thank you to all the generations of people who came before us who marched and fought and died so that all of us non-white non-male non-landowners could have a say in what happens too. And if you are a white male landowner you should definitely vote to carry on the proud tradition of canceling out other voter groups!GO VOTE!

Angries up the Blood

I was insulted this morning by one of my professors. Not purposefully, she didn't personally attack me, but i took offense to a comment she made impugning citizenry of the great state of Alabama. And i learned something. It's good to be insulted early in the morning, it gets the blood flowing and you feel alive. I highly recommend it! If nothing else her comment forced me to review my beliefs and solidify my position-- she pushed my boundaries and that's good teaching. So,hopefully someone will stir you up today too. Have an uncomfortable day!

A little historical perspective

Im writing a paper analyzing a November 1964 edition of Christianity Today. It's chock full of fascinating stuff. Basically the message is: America is falling apart and only the church can save it. With threats at home and abroad, America's moral climate will determine the nations preservation. But with protestant evangelical churches adopting European theology that undercuts doctrinal truths and the authority of scripture, and the overall lack of real discipleship in churches that function more like social clubs than devoted agents of Christ, what's a believer to do?Answers vary, but here are a few: Fight for conservative doctrine, train leaders to cut to the heart of social and spiritual issues proactively, don't be a communist, march with the civil rights leaders, be hands off towards the civil rights leaders, condemn civil rights leaders, be friendly toward the Vatican and its mission work, warn against the Vatican and its mission work, don't be a communist. Then there are t...

Thinking about Islam and what it means to be the Christ

So i am in a Religious studies class and yesterday we went to the Bowling Green Islamic Center for a tour. I bought a loverly purple scarf to wear so i could enter the worship area and it was a beautiful facility. Of course there are no pictures on the walls, but they had the traditional calligraphy lettering of their scriptures as decoration. We got to talk to the Iman (spelling ?) through our guide and translator and something struck me as interesting. Islam is a religion of mercy and forgiveness, Allah being a merciful God. The one unforgivable sin for a Muslim is denigrating Allah, saying he is not One, or saying he has a son. Their one unforgivable sin is in denying an attribute of Allah. In Judaism, one of the most important tenets is that Yaweh is One, and that he is the only true God, there are no others. In Christianity, the unforgivable sin is denigrating the Holy Spirit, denying the Spirit's Godhood. All three major religions allow for sins, understand that man is sinfu...

ok, um...well what to say.i dont know what to say. What is it that will entertain you people. I mean, its a lot of pressure. I feel you there, sitting at your screens, like salivating dogs at the pizza hut dumpster, and im out of pepperoni. I dont even like pepperoni! So, i have to look at you with your sad, hungry eyes that have those little flies around them because no one loves you enough to give you a home and wipe the gunk away. And i can't take you all home with me. Believe me i want to! I really want to, but i live in a small apartment with no yard and greg would flip because he had the part of his soul that feels compassion for abandoned animals replaced to make room for more love of cheese! I just...its just too much. Im SORRY! OK! I have nothing for you. Life is hard, and the Republicans have screwed us all and now there's no place for hope in our global community let alone pizza scraps for anxious readers!*breathe in*breathe out...there you go...its okay heather, its fi...
