"It's always in the last place you look!"

Yesterday was quite a stressful day around here. Sam and I were getting ready for work at the same time (which rarely ever happens) and we were just about to head out of the door and Sam went to put on her wedding ring. But, she couldn't find it anywhere. We frantically looked all over the house, in all of the normal places. She always takes it off right before she gets in the shower, right before she does the dishes, and right before she goes to bed. But it wasn't in any of those places, so we had to abandon the search until later that night.Late that night after having gone to our gospel meeting we meticulously searched all over the house. We turned all the couch cushions over and moved the couches. We moved the refrigerator out and looked under it (which by the way, is quite scary. It sure does get dirty under there) We emptied out a terribly disgusting bag of trash. I mean the rotting food, raw chicken, old spaghetti type of disgusting trash. We stripped our mattresses and ...

Got Gas?

If you haven't heard already, Atlanta is in quite the gas crisis. For many different reasons, most of the gas stations in town are completely dry. So, it's getting pretty risky to run your tank down until it's almost empty, because you never know when or where you'll be getting it. Whenever a station happens to have gas, the lines form immediately. Tonight, Sam and I were over at Dan and Alicia Chaney's house for a little party, and when we left we knew that we had to stop at the first gas station we could find. We passed an Exxon staion and I knew it had gas because there were cars lined up everywhere. Fortunately (and yes, I said FORTUNATELY) there were only about 20 cars in line. Which means that I only had to wait about 20 minutes. Recently, if you only have to wait 20 minutes, you're doing good! So, after we got about 10 gallons (for $3.96 a gallon...which by the way isn't too bad around here either. Someone tonight was telling us they paid $4.60 a gallon yesterday for ...

Funny Church Story

For the most updated report on Sam's dad, go to Trisha's page. Thanks again for all the prayers and kind words. But for now, I'm going to change the subject. It's been quite a while since I've put fun stuff on here, so I thought that I would do that tonight. So, if you read Trisha's update you would have noticed that we were in Bowling Green this last weekend. Almost all of the family was together because of the court hearing, and if you know much of anything about the Andrews family, you'll know that it's quite an adventure. This weekend definitely proved that fact. So, let me just tell you about our adventure at church services at Lost River. I think we've decided that it was not just an adventure, but a three-ring circus. It all started out during the song service. Angie (Sam's sister) came in to church with Abbey (her daughter) just a tad late, and while we were singing a song. Abbey LOVED the singing so much that she decided to sing along with everyone. Which was very...

Another prayer request

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and concern. My dad is feeling much better and is mostly recovered except some continuing vision problems. He can't really see anything up close without blurriness or double vision. And he has to wear an eye patch a lot. The doctor's expect this problem to correct itself in about six months or less. If it doesn't, there may be some surgery options. He is still on blood thinners and will be for several months. At this time, he is unable to return to work. As far as the children are concerned, there is a hearing on Monday, the 25th, to decide whether or not my parents can keep the four adopted children. They are finished with the foster care system and we are only concerned now about the four remaining, adopted children. The hearing on Monday is concerning allegations of physical abuse brought on by a foster girl they had. We feel that this may go well, b/c they can't even name which child was "abused" (b/c none were), and the...

Sam's Dad

This is Sam - We just want to thank you for all of your prayers and concern. We learned this morning that my father's blood clot is finally gone. There was a complication yesterday during the procedure and the surgeon had to leave the catheter in his veins all night long so they could work like a soaker hose and distribute a very strong blood thinner called TPA. This highly increased the risk of bleeding in the brain and stroke. So, it was a very long and prayer filled night. However, when the surgeon took him in this morning, he found that the TPA had done its work and the clot was almost completely gone. The little that is left can be managed with blood thinners and, Lord willing, he should be able to go home in the next few days. We are, of course, very thankful for this report and thankful for the prayers from you all. God is so good to us and I am trying to remember to be as diligent in my prayers of thanksgiving as I was in my prayers for help over the past few days.

Fun at the Beach

Last weekend, Sam and I met some of my family for some fun in the sun! Altogether there were 20 of us. We had a great time, but we definitely didn't want to go back home. But before we met my side of the family we met Sam's sister and neice, Angie and Abbey, Friday night. The next morning the four of us went to the beach and spent the morning there. It was fun, but we got sunburnt! Oh well, the price you pay to spend some time at the beach. Later that morning we met up with my parents, my aunt and uncle, and one of my cousins. We had lunch and then spent some time visiting. We also got to watch Abbey practice her dance recital that she has coming up soon...well, we got to watch as much of it as she felt like showing us. She's quite a character! Here is a picture of Angie and Abbey right before they leftAfter lunch they had to head back to New Orleans to pick up Michael (Angie's husband) from the airport...which by the way, got canceled, which stinks because they could have...

Attack of the Green Aprons

My people at work love to leave their aprons laying around everywhere in the back room. Then they come to work without their own CLEAN apron and throw on the first one they can find. They don't care that it probably has infinite mocha stains, soured milk, rotting whip cream, and crystallized syrups all over it. So, I decided that I would just keep them at my house and then slowly they would realize that they would just have to bring their own from home. But in the meantime, the green aprons have taken over. That's all for now. Enjoy the rest of your week.
