POINSETTIA SALE

Hey Everyone. Courtlyn is selling beautiful poinsettias just in time for Christmas. This is to help her raise money for her 8th grade band trip to Disney World in the spring. There are a variety of poinsettias which come from Southland Greenhouses and they are beautiful and a good price - just $10.00. They will be delivered the weekend of December 6. There are 5 varieties: 1) Red, 2) White, 3) Pink, 4) Marble, 5) Jinglebells. Click here to see a sample of the poinsettias. I need the money no later than Wednesday, November 19.These make great office gifts and Christmas party hostess gifts, not to mention nice decoration for your house.

Stir Crazy!

I'm so ready to go out!!! I went to the doctor today and it nearly wore me out! But I'm tired of sitting around watching old movies.I have learned that Percocet makes you have weird dreams. I don't usually remember them, but I remember the one I had last night, or at least part of it. I was at this really cool gym that was two stories and had the huge big screen tv's all over the place. I apparently chose to work out on the treadmill while watching Sesame Street!

Finally Home

Thanks to all for your prayers this past week while I had surgery. Please continue to pray throughout my recovery. I still have a ways to go before I am "back to normal activity".Everything went well with the surgery, although it was a little more involved than the dr. expected and took a little longer. I had a really rough time with nausea, most likely caused from anesthesia and pain medication, which extended my hospital stay by 2 days. I finally came home on Sunday and could not get out of that hospital fast enough. I sent Patrick a text message during Bible class that morning and told him I was released and to come and get me!I am feeling a little better each day and am enjoying lots of help from my family and friends. The meals we've been provided have been great and my kids are really enjoying eating different things. They all like my cooking, but it is so nice to experience others' cooking and get new recipes. YUM! It has also been really great to have a so...

Catching Up

I realized my last entry was well over a month ago. So, here's what I've been doing, and what is coming up.On September 26th, we went to Anna Maria Island, FL for Scott Zambito's wedding. It was so much fun. The wedding was on Friday and we got to spend all day Saturday at the beach. The wedding was very casual and absolutely beautiful, except for the old geezer who plopped himself down on the beach right behind the arbor where the bride and groom were standing and all he was wearing was a speedo!Football season is in full swing. October is the busiest month for the marching band with lots of practice and competitions. I made 19 silk flags for our color guard over a 2 week period (they were very behind in getting this done, so I stupidly volunteered to help). I estimate that it took about 70 hours to make all of them, but they turned out nice and I ended up getting paid for it. The marching band competed at Lassiter High School on October 4th and then went to Orlando, FL fo...

UPDATE

I've received some pressure to update, so here goes. There has really been nothing of interest to post about myself, so I'll post something about a fun night I had with Courtlyn and some of her friends a few weeks ago.Courtlyn's friend, Angel, just had her 13th birthday in August. Because she was out of town and then school started, she never got to have a birthday party. So, Courtlyn and her other friend Caley decided to surprise her one Saturday and have a little mini-surprise party. Caley came over around 11:00 that morning and they decorated our foyer with streamers and posters. I went and got a cake. When she came over they yelled "SURPRISE" and I thought she was going to walk back out the door. They then rushed her to Courtlyn's room where Caley had brought some extra dressy clothes. They spent the rest of the afternoon "getting ready" to go out to dinner. Following dinner, we went to see a Cobb Children's Theatre production of West Side Story. It ...

Aunt Brenda's Summer Camp Officially Over

I had a wonderful visit with some of my family this weekend. My younger brother--Billy, his wife--Carole and their kids Lillian & Jack came for a visit on Thursday. They left just after church this morning. To keep the kids busy and having fun, we had "Aunt Brenda's Summer Camp". We did lots of fun things, played outside and inside, and even went to the movies. It was a lot of fun. Patrick and Billy even got to go play a round of golf with some men from church. Unfortunately, summer is coming to an end and we will be back in school in 2 weeks. Lots of preparations for band meals, ordering supplies for the school store at the middle school, helping with highschool PTSA membership, finding teachers for next quarter's Bible classes at church, and the list goes on and on and on and on . . .Here's about 10 or 12 pictures from our weekend. ENJOY!

It's been so busy since we got back from vacation, that I've not had any time to post pictures. If you saw Patrick's blog, then you had a chance to see some of the fun places we visited. I thought I would show you some of the real pictures from our vacation! Sorry in advance that there are so many, but I had a hard time choosing which ones to share!Notice the SIGN, then notice the FACES!Patrick eating dinner at the Mt. Vernon InnThis is how John looked most of the trip!Notice Jared's eyes--He also looked like this a lot of the trip!Who said we didn't evolve from animals???How we really felt most of the time. The CONE-HEADS have returned! No explanation necessary! There are tons more, but I'll spare you. On another note, we had 230 in attendance at our VBS tonight!! WOW--It was awesome!

VACATION!!!!!!!!

We are leaving tomorrow for vacation. YIPEEEEEEEEE!! I've so been looking forward to this trip. I visited many of the places we're going when I was a kid so it will be fun to see them again with mine. Below are some of the sites we'll be seeing on this trip, including a Richmond Braves game on the 4th of July. We will return on July 5 just in time to get to working on VBS!Also, thanks to all who were concerned about Jared. He is doing fine. We went to the doctor yesterday and his elbow is fractured in 2 places--at the tip, and just above it. He will be in a full arm cast for 4 weeks. His cast is red at the top arm and blue at the forearm--Atlanta Braves colors! We're so thankful he wasn't hurt worse.Check our blogs over the next 11 days. I'm sure Patrick or I will post some pictures of our VACATION., , , , ,
