Twilight night

I could sing a little song today and do a little dance by expressing my excitement, but I won't. Tonight is girl's night out featuring Carrabba's Italian food (Chicken Marsala and garlic mashed potatos to be exact and that fablulous chocolate dessert of theirs) and the much anticipated book turned into movie, Twilight. My girl friends and I are venturing out - taking advantage of a night out which comes so rarely, and going to see the movie back to back. Yep, that's right! 7:00pm and 10:00pm Crazy, I know, but also fun! I haven't done that since I was a teenager! When I told Tim about it, I began by saying "Don't make fun of us, I don't want to hear it, but we are going to see the movie back to back." He just looked at me, smirked, and walked off. (that was the nicest thing he could do, you see, b/c he thinks the book hype and now movie hype is bogus and stupid).Sigh.....6 hours to go.....Oh and tomorrow, I'm having an hour massage with my friend at 10:00am. ...

Give New Things a Try....

I had an idea (with the guidance of an acquaintance who had done it before) to host a Holiday Trunk Show featuring several home based businesses. My small idea (with only 2 others besides myself) grew into an event with 17 booths of different home based businesses.I think over all it was a success. Several of my sellers made a great profit while others made very little profit. Some profited in a different way, by making new contacts or booking home shows or gathering business prospects. Everyone had a great time and seemed to have fun.My final analysis is that I'm not sure I'll plan another event like this - it took a lot of work and money to put it together. I wasn't one of the sellers who had high financial profits from this event. In my business home shows are the most profitable avenue and so I'll continue with that. I am thankful though that I followed through with the idea, because you never know until you try something. And I might reconsider after I recover from this one. M...

Food for Thought?

I've been reading this book called 'Will the Real Heretics Please Stand Up'.I'm not very far into it yet but it's been an interesting read so far. One thing I read last night pricked my interest and I've been thinking about it while I've been cleaning today. It was talking about the things that the NT Christians involved themselves in and didn't involve themselves in and how they truly "stood apart" from the world. Then the book was contrasting how we as Christians today live and the things we involve ourselves in (and don't) and asking the question do we really seperate ourselves from the world enough that the world can see there is something different about us. If we watch the same movies and tv shows and we read the same books and we attend the same places of entertainment, do people of the world see a difference between me, a Christian, and them? The obvious answer would have to be no. How can they if we are doing all the same things they are doing? It's not to...

After the Election

I got this as a foward today but thought the truth's were too good to not post it. Maybe you've seen it...For months now my email Inbox has been besieged by nearly hysterical warnings about what will happen if Barack Obama becomes President. I have been encouraged to be worried, afraid, concerned, prepared for disaster, and a whole host of other maladies if this happens. I do not deny the importance of this election, but it seems to me that we need a dose of perspective. So here, after the election, I would like to start my own email concerning this election. It's a "True/False"test. I'd like for all of us to take it. True/False: The day after the election, regardless of who wins, Jesus will still be King.True/False: The day after the election, regardless of who wins, our responsibilities as Christians will not have changed one iota.True/False: The day after the election, regardless of who wins, the greatest agent for social change in America will still be ...

Update...

First of all, thank you all for your prayers for Ashlyn! It's always such a comfort to know that so many from so many places are praying for you or in my case, for my child. We were able to come home today and Ashyn is doing much better compared to yesterday! You can actually hear her talking right now - though when she gets upset her cough increases quickly taking her voice along with it. She seems to be fever free at the moment, last they checked before we left the hospital it was very low grade. She took a 3 hour nap, just woke up actually. Much needed rest! She is taking an antibiotic just to further make sure if there was a bacterial infection this will knock it out. It's wonderful to have us all 4 back at home!!!!There's my "Bright Spot" of the week - as my good friend Kristin worded it. :)

Will the sickness ever end....?

Ashlyn has croup and had to be admitted to the hospital yesterday afternoon due to difficulty breathing. They are going to keep her in the hospital another night. The doctor came by this morning and her breathing still sounds bad (not good enough to send her home) so they are going to continue giving her breathing treatments every four hours until 10:00 tonight. They are also going to give her a liquid antibiotic and steroid in her IV because they are concerned she might have some kind of bacterial infection which is causing her to continue to run high fever.I am at home briefly to catch up on some things here at the house and take a shower, while Tim is at the hospital with her.We appreciate any prayers on her behalf!

First lost tooth....

Caleb finally lost his first tooth about a week ago - I just haven't thought to post about it what with him being sick, a yard sale and Fall Festival events going on, my brain has been otherwise full. His adult tooth is in pretty far, which is why I think the baby tooth fell out - it got pushed out of the way. The baby tooth right next to it won't be in for long either b/c the adult tooth is right behind that one too. I put some pictures up on my blogger site - go take a look.*Update* Baby tooth #2 is loose!

Sick Caleb

Caleb came home from school on Friday with a note from his teacher saying that he was complaining of sore throat and he felt feverish to her - at 2:30, which is why she didn't send him home b/c school lets out at 2:50.Sure enough later that evening he was running a fever of 102.3. By Saturday he was completely hoarse and coughing but b/c of the hoarsness he sounded more like a barking seal and still running fever. Plus all he wanted to do was lay down. Poor guy!Saturday afternoon he got a second wind, no fever, so we went with my parents to a pumpkin patch. He had fun, but it probably wasn't the best decision to let him go. Saturday night he was burning up again and he threw up.Sunday he was STILL running fever, still very hoarse and wheezing a bit when he would breath. So I took him to a medical clinic open on the weekends. Sure enough he had an ear infection, croup and his oxygen level was low. So they gave him a breathing treatment and sent us home with 3 liquid meds. ...
