Who will miss the political ads??

It’s over. No more ads, discussions, debates. How cool is that? Even though the one I voted for did not win, I am OK with that. I think (if the fiscal, energy, and other policies pass) we will have some difficult times ahead, but there are also many positives. If, and I hope I am wrong, the economic situation of America turns downward it will help us focus on what really matters. Many have lost sight of how rich we really are. We strive for more and are not satisfied with what God has blessed us with. If things get tight, we might understand what we do have. I know God has a plan for everything, and that should comfort any who are having a hard time with the results (besides, did anyone think McCain was going to win?). That is the positive view we should have as Christians. Don’t get me wrong, I am not wishing bad times on anyone or saying it will happen, but if it does that may just be what we need right now. There are also some positive political views Conservative ca...

My last political thoughts, another perspective.

Here are my last thought before the election on Tuesday. I know many have their pet issue which sways their vote for a particular candidate. Some look at the economy and their personal pocket book, others on a "moral" issue, others on who speaks the best. What ever your reason, I would like you to think of a few more things. Our country was built on freedoms. Slowly government has chipped away at our freedoms and has dictated what we can or can not do. With these slow changes many have not even noticed an impact on their life. I am not suggesting there is going to be any major, earth shattering decisions made with one candidate over another, but rather a slow movement away from the foundation America was built on. Both as citizens and as Christians we are to be responsible for our actions. Many would believe we should let the government take care of various areas of our lives. The problem is: where does this stop. How long will it be until our faith has limits p...

Trip notes

Boy, were the last two weeks great. I think this may be a longer post for any or all of those interested in the events in my life. We (my family and some friends) arrived in FL on Wednesday the 15th. Soon after our landing we (Jaime, Kids, and I) rushed over and pick up the rental mini van and make our way over to the Fortune road Church for class and visit the Lungstrums. After that we headed to a hotel for the night before the chaos (in a good way) began. On Thursday we (10 of us) went over to Downtown Disney to do our shopping and hang out. We (the kids) decided to eat lunch at the new T-Rex restaurant. We later found out this was the first lunch served and they had only opened the night before. With that being said, we had a mixed reaction to our experience. The restaurant its self was great. Great decoration, good food, but horrible service. It took a bit over 2 hours from start to finish eating lunch. It took 40 min for us to get our drinks and we had to ask numer...

I have been “tagged”. So I will reluctantly participate (it feel like I’m back in high school with my slam book). 1. I play on a roller hockey league and still play pick up games on ice2. I hate to text message, what ever that is? 3. Although I exercise and try to live healthy, I hate vegetables 4. My max bench press is 325# and my goal is 350 by the end of the year5. I love Disney (but who doesn’t)6. I used to play guitar, but don’t have time anymore7. I enjoy antique shopping because of #88. I collect pezHere is some more info about what is going on. Two weeks from today we will be in Orlando, and I am already done packing. If the weather is decent (no rain) the boys and I will be doing some camping tomorrow night. It will be Caleb’s first time, but he is almost 3 and is looking forward to it. A few guys from church will also be going with us. Fall camping is the best. I was asked to teach the adult class at church starting at the end of the month. ...

Pull ups

Here at work we installed this make-shift pull up bar. It is great, and only two of us use it. I also have a VKR machine at home and to them there everyonce in a while. I am now able to do 10 pull ups. I never thought I would see the day. These are not the girly underhand grip type either. They are the normal overhand type. How many can you do, and when is the last time you tried? Gotta go do my next set. Jake

Here is an update

Well it has been a while. Not that there has been much going on, just too much going on. This has been a great summer so far and we have more great things coming up. We have not been able to go to a Brewers game yet due to our schedule (they didn’t check with us first to see when we could make it) and the scarcity of tickets. I just can’t justify spending way above face to go see a game. For seats on the second level it would run around $150-$200 just to get the family in the door. At least hockey season is only 2 months away. T-ball was good this year. The first two weeks were tough with practice. Getting 10-13 four and five year olds on the same page and kept occupied for an hour, but after that the games were great. The kids really learned a lot and started to look good. I will be coaching again next year. Josiah officially can ride a bike now. It is fun to see him ride it around the driveway. He is also doing well with his ice skating. He is much better when we go...
