Look what came up in MY garden!

Do I seem surprised? So I'm not a gardener at all but I'm making some efforts this year and was pleasantly surprised by what came of one of my bulbs. (A little down the row and something is all burned up - so don't be too impressed!) It made me think of a spiritual message that Jesus taught and that Josh and I have discussed frequently in the last few years. For all of the spiritual planting and/or watering we do we will be let down at times because the soil isn't right. In the past few years we can think of many areas we've planted, a few where something came up and looked wonderful for a while, but later died and precious fewer yet that have grown into something truly great, grown stronger and reseeded to produce fruit. This is not something new obviously, just something I've been thinking about. The more we scatter the more those few who will grow to produce fruit - and praise God for the power of His seed to produce that fruit!Briefly here's what we've been up to: Nonn...

Hello Again

Oh dear, sorry to be gone so long and especially to make you all worry about the 'incident' (lol!) I'm fine, thanks for all your concern. I followed up with a dr here when I got home and she said in her sweet southern way "you were dry as a chip!" and that was that, just a nasty case of dehydration and stomach bug. A special thanks for all your concern and a few in particular who were so very helpful - I've been bugging Sharon for a few adresses but if I never see them, please know how much you are apreciated :)Lots is new around here (its been a while). Josh started his new job up in the GA sticks and is loving it... and is actually home even earlier these days. Mia just had her 3rd birthday my little pony party yesterday, and would you believe I had everything ready except I couldn't find my camera for my life! I'm so upset:( Anyway, seems the kids enjoyed, and today I'm treating the yard for ants from the pinata candy. Be sure to say hi to my sis who's finally j...

"When you don't have anything Interesting to say, don't say anything at all!"

Isn't that what your mother always said? Its been a little too long, I know but sometimes I feel like my blog looks like a checklist and really whoever finds another person's checklist all that interesting?! Something interesting HAS recently happened though, and we could use your prayers. We, along with four other families have come together to start a new work. (spanish again of course) It had been a little too long with so little man-power; so difficult to grow with no one full or even part-time worker and so we'll be starting with 6 men!! woohoo! (we are genuinely excited!) Right now we're meeting in homes and have a handful of contacts studying, and pray to be into a building soon. Thanks in advance for your prayers.Otherwise life continues as normal... we're going through a bit of a patch with sibling stuff and two-year-old stuff, potty training for almost A YEAR and so I'll be cutting down to one (crazy) day of a houseful of kids, and just mine the rest of the time. I...

The Phone Killer Strikes Again - and other cries for help!

Some of you have heard of my deadly record... that is, how many cell phones I can pulverize in a short time. Josh has seen two old friends drown in the washing machine (within a few months) and my latest near fatal victim, just last week. I have only had a cell for a few months now as I was purposely bucking the trend until it just wasn't fun anymore. So, naturally, I'm still not always remembering to charge and tote the flashy accessory. Last week I remembered I hadn't seen the phone in a day or so, so calling several times while pacing the house... heart racing head pounding... until I finally hear that familiar tune (which I still can't name, since I don't know how to change the ringer) in the garage. In a trash bag to be specific. So... if you call me an I don't immediately answer, I just may be wiping away the raw egg :) A conversation I over heard the other day:ABBY: "Mia come here, we have to make a birthday cake for Mommy. She's turning 100!"Unrelated qu...

Who else LOVES a new year?

Its silly, its actually a man-made imaginary thing but I have always been crazy about the turning of the calendar! I get so excited about the possibilities, the chance for a fresh start and am SO motivated to change and improve. I always make a list of resolutions and map them out over the year's calendar. Does anyone else do this? Thanks for asking about our trip: It couldn't have gone any better. The drive was so much fun (I came from a family who never drove anywhere) and the whole trip an adventure for the kids. Let me back up a little. Its always easier to just post pictures than to go into length... so here's our December in a nutshell:In the beginning of the month Jeb and Shiela visited for a week. These sweet cousins get precious little time together these days, so it was very special to have them all here. (oh yeah, Jake came too!) The drive was long but I was so motivated I drove the first 8 hours (9pm-5am) stopping only for gas and coffee. (to anyone who knows my ...

Rejoice with Us!

One of Josh's clients turned friend of ours obeyed the gospel in baptism yesterday! Please pray for Darrith as the first months after conversion are so critical to one's growth. Praise God that His message is so plain yet His promises so unfathomable! My schedule for the next few days:-Today: emergency root canal-Tomorrow: pack, prepare, get car from shop, drive to CanadaI'm wondering which will be more painful: the root canal or 15 hours plus snow delays with kids?! Ha!Happy Holidays and safe travels to all!

Life Is Sweet

Hey all! I've been loving finding you all enjoying time spent with family and admiring all those happy pictures. How blessed we are. My folks, sister and bro-in-law just left a few days ago... we had such a wonderful visit. We checked out the coolest Christmas lights I'd ever seen at a lake resort here in town, the kids got a wee bit spoiled, (yes I AM paying now, but whats a grandparent to do?!) and learned the most ADDICTIVE board game called "Settlers of Catan". We are now accepting reservations if you'd like to stay with us for a weekend to play - it would be well worth your trip!A little update on other fronts, some of you have been asking about Josh's schooling. He passed his series 7 financial advisor exam and has changed jobs - he's now doing investments with Fidelity. As much as this kind of change is a bit frightening, its been exciting and inspired a lot more prayer!! ha! The girls are great - getting ready to see their cousins as Jeb & Shiela will be ...

Thanks.

Hey, just wanted to thank you all so much for your love and support. My mom's finally home and my whole family will be down here on Saturday - it'd been more than six months since we'd seen my parents and more than a year since we'd seen my sister and her hubby ,,, so this is a long awaited reunion! The girls and I just had a quick but wonderful weekend in AL - just what I'd needed to be with good friends and have some laughs! Forgot to take pictures - story of my life. Thanks so much - you know who you are!Abby's been in a very questioning phase lately. I'm loving having an extra hint as to what she thinks about - at times I'm convicted by her focus. An example: what does heaven look like? Do we still grow up there? After we go to heaven can we come back to our green house - 'cause I love our house? She naively reminds me of the love of our Father, and the confidence we can have in His great promises. They are real and not too far off. Thanks Abby. Finally a few pics of a...
