Ashlyn Joy was born last night at 11:13pm by c-section. Come to find out the cord was wrapped around her neck twice! She's 7lbs 3 oz, 19 3/4 inches and has beautiful brown eyes! She looks like her mommy! Here's one my mom took earlier today. I'll upload some of mine tomorrow or Saturday :-)

They broke her water and her contractions were progressing well. She was getting her eppidural and should be feeling better now. More updates to come...***3pm- They checked her and she was 4cm... they'll check her again at 5 or so******9pm- They just checked her and she's still at a 6. We're waiting until the Dr. comes in to check her or a couple more hours. ***She's been at 6 cm since 7pm... so they're taking her back for a c-section***

Blue Moon

It is indeed, a rare occurance when by Tuesday night I have all of my "chores" done through Friday. WHEW! What a nice feeling this is! It's only 8 pm so in my world (where my night usually just gets started) I still have a few more hours to get somethings done. I am hoping to make a loaf of banana bread with my VERY ripe bananas and some pumpkin bread with the leftover pumpkin from the pumpkin scones I made. Breakfast is looking very tasty tomorrow :-) This week would be a GREAT time for baby Ashlyn to make her appearance! Thanks for all of your sweet comments on K's bumblebee costume. My only lament is that I later found a coupon in my stash for CVS that I could have gotten it for free! Bummer!

Our little Bumblebee

This week has been a crazy one. You would think with an extra hour sleep that it would benefit me. Instead, it threw me into a funk of sorts. That is until about 4:30 yesterday when everything clicked. By the time Fred got home before services, K was bathed and fed, Bibles and diaper bag already in the car and I had almost finished getting ready. For me this is a new record! Wednesday nights are so difficult. We're still waiting on my neice-to-be. Any day now. Of course, it wouldn't be a blog this week if I didn't mention the election. Either way you voted, it's a very monumental thing to have a Black man elected president. Don't get me wrong, prejudices still exist and they exist more than you might realize. Fred's parents were affected by some of the civil rights movements so for them, I imagine, it's surreal seeing him elected. Don't forget as Christians, we still have obligations to let our lights shine and to respect those in positions of authority. Now on to our...

I should be sleeping...

It's late. Actually, it's not too late for me but since I'm sick, I need all of the rest I can get. I CANNOT go to sleep. Hopefully, I'll be able to go to sleep soon after some internet browsing. That usually does the trick. K is officially mobile! She's such a big girl! She also is into more and seems to be ignoring most of our "NO NO's" for curiosity sake. This usually results in her getting in trouble though. Today, Fred got her in trouble. He fed her chocolate ice cream that had chocolate pieces in it. She came into our room where I was on the phone and proceded to wipe her face on our comforter. I suggested to her that if she didn't want Daddy and herself in trouble, not to wear the evidence around. Does anyone else think that the sound of their baby/kid laughing is THE BEST sound in the whole wide world? Fred and I both start laughing when she does that and ours is more of a laughing of happiness and tears that follow. So precious! Hopefully, I'll kick t...

Busy weekend

This weekend was a very busy one. Saturday we went to get K a new carseat since she's finally grown out of her other one. She looks like such a big girl in it! We also got her some new big girl shoes since she's now walking pretty much all of the time. She wears size 5!! Poor girl is going to have big feet like her daddy. Fred's birthday was Sunday not Friday as I put on my last entry. All Fred wanted for his birthday was to grill out some steaks. In addition to that, I decided to make some of his favorite things that I don't make often. So we had a greek salad, steak, broccoli and cheese, Three cheese macaroni and for dessert blueberry delight. We had a great but tiring time this weekend. Fred enjoyed his birthday weekend just spending time with us. He did get one present. A big bag of pistachios which are his favorite!I forgot to mention that on Sunday for some reason I was feeling lousy. The kitchen was a disaster from making lunch, etc... He got up early Monday ...

Groove

I think we've all started to hit our groove. Fred has finished his 1st 6 weeks and report cards too. K and I have gotten into a good groove in the past few weeks. I now feel like I'm on top of things instead of constantly behind the eight-ball. Maybe I'll actually have time for my fun things during her nap time :-) I'm still working on our family ancestry information. I've found quite a bit actually and it's very overwhelming that there is so much out there. Fred's birthday is Friday and he's requested that we grill out some steaks. I can't argue with that! Any suggestions on what I should make him for his birthday treat? It won't be very long before we get to see my neice! I can't wait :-) I think my favorite part will be seeing them fall in love with her and seeing them be parents. Oh and of course all of the spoiling that I'm sure I will do :-)

Dave Ramsey's response to the bail out package...

By and large, 70% to 90% of you wanted something to be done to calm the economy, but you didn't want $700 billion in new debt to bail out Wall Street. The stock market has had record declines since then. What's going on? You need to remember that you need to take control of your life. It's disturbing that people in government totally disregard what the people tell them to do. It's disturbing that the market goes down and the media panics about this. It's disturbing that greedy banks made loans to people who couldn't afford to repay, and people signed up for the trip when they couldn't afford it. It's disturbing that Washington ignores its constituents and takes huge strides toward socialism. All of these things are disturbing, but none will cause this great nation to cease to function. They are not the beginning of the end. But the most disturbing thing is some people's reactions. Don't react based on fear or panic. Another negative reaction is that you are looking to Washington to ...

I'm "tagging" K

I thought it would be fun to tag K. Obviously she can't type or speak for her self, but I thought it would be neat to pass on some of her favorite things.1. She is a morning person like her daddy but like mommy, it takes her a while to wake up. 2. She loves the blanket that she takes a nap with. It was made for me by my great-grandma which would be her great-great-grandma. 3. She loves to do this little bumblebee thing. I used to pretend two of my fingers were bumblebees and I'd buzz all around until I landed on her nose, tummy, cheeks, etc... She loves it and can't do it with out making a buzzing sound which comes out more like a "tthhhhh" sound :-)4. She LOVES water. She loves to drink water, play in the bathtub, play in the water that drips down on the door of the dish washer, etc... She just LOVES water! 5. Already, she loves kids. She is drawn to kids and loves to see them and play with them. Ask her how much she loves Nolan!6. She loves her Bible. ...
