In the dessert

So James has seen some pretty neat things since being overseas. Yesterday and Fri. he had some down time, so he explored Bahrain. McDonald's was cheapter than the U.S. Traffic lights are longer - 8 minutes or so per red light / 20 seconds or so per green - ick. He saw a shepherd herding sheep in the dessert yesterday and took some pictures (he'll send me those soon, I hope!). They have a Hard Rock - somehow I'm not surprised. I had him pick me up a Hard Rock Bahrain shirt - too cool. He had a 7 hour layover in Paris on Tuesday, so he took a train into the city and saw some cool things there too, like this:Yeah, saying I'm jealous is an understatment! ;)Only a week left and he'll be back home (I hope) unless this job takes longer. We'll see...

Bahrain

Where is that anyway? Ok, I know it's a little island in the middle east. And I know it is pretty westernized (sp?), but beyond that, I don't know much except that my hubby is there for two weeks for work. At least I have my huge black dog and my roomie, Sarah (when she's around) to keep me company. Oh, and there's work and the gym to keep me busy.I had the girls over last night for some yummy fiesta white chili with the fixins and corn bread. Oh, and some great cheesecake for desert. And a chick flick. Good times. Tonight I had a friend over who just recently got baptized and we studied Genesis a little. We'll do more next week. I'm getting the itch to put our x-mas tree up and all the other decorations around the house. I love the holidays (and its been feeing more like them every day - today was only 45 degrees!). Don't worry, I won't be one of those crazy people who put their decorations up before Thanksgiving (although I must confess, I have done it as early as 3 d...

What's up?

I know it's still 3 weeks or so away, but I'm so looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday. I could use a few days off. Not like I've been working like crazy, but I've been more stressed than usual dealing with so many kiddos and parents this year. I have a particular parent that is a HUGE pain, there's just no dealing with her, she's not at all sensible, like a 4 year old or something. You just can't have an adult conversation with someone like that, who's never satisfied and always finding issues with... well, everything! (Thanks for letting me vent!) Who else is looking forward to Thanksgiving? Do you have any special traditions you have or favorite things you do or prepare? Do tell! Oh, and don't forget to vote on Tuessday!!!!!!!

Expressway and Disney

Sometimes you just take great things in your life for granted. I don't think I ever felt so glad to be back at our home congregation, Expressway, last night for our meeting with Wilson Adams. We drove from 4am in Orlando to Louisville so that we could shower, unpack a little and then get to the meeting - which was fantastic. He's a great speaker.Disney was great with my family. Jake, Jaime and the kiddos were there along with my parents. We got some great pictures and even better memories. Epcot, as always, was our favorite. Especially since they were having their annual food and wine festival. We sampled foods - only ;) - from Istanbul, Chille and Athens to name a few (we ate so much!). I hope everyone is having a great week - back to work tomorrow for me! Ps - I put up a room of pictures of our time in Disney!

I hate it when I wake up like 20 minutes before the alarm goes off and I can't get back to sleep - ugh. So tomorrow's my birthday, along with my brother and nephew, Josiah. Oh, and it's also Luke Perry's and Kirk Cameron's (which was pretty cool when I was like 14.). So - happy birthday to us! Yes, I'll be the BIG 30. And no, it so doesn't feel like it.James is planning some sort of mischief for my birthday, but won't tell me what yet.Next Thursday we're having a big "family" birthday bash that will last a few days in Disney with Jake's family, my parents, and some others. We'll only be there Thu - Tue, but some other people are staying longer. I'm pretty excited about it - I haven't been to Disney with MY familly since I was like 17. It'll be neat.Well, y'all have a great weekend! :)Love,Terra

Well, here's my 8 things odd/you may not know about me...1)The first time I ever saw James, he was Superman at a Halloween party - if I only knew what was to come with his Superman obsession (the costume is hanging upstairs next to my wedding dress)2)I love Fossil watches - they're so pretty! I get one almost every year for my birthday and/or Christmas3)I have a screw in my left foot from a surgery I had in 8th grade - it makes foot x-rays more fun4)I love salsa. I could drink it if it wasn't socially unacceptable. I believe tortilla chips is just a way to get to the actual salsa5)I used to have an orange '86 Ford Escort in high school. I was a taz freak at the time, so I got the plates on that car say "I Luv TAZ" and I had Taz decals all over my car windows. Everyone at school called it the "tazmobile"6)I've attended 5 different colleges - my transcripts are a confusing mess7)When driving long distances, I sit on my left leg while the car's on cru...

Craziness

It happened again... at the mall yesterday... it's been a while... I thought it was over... but someone once again thought I was a teenybopper and tried to get me to cast a vote for something that's apparently all the rage in the "just-too-young-to-vote" age range. There's this loud music going on in the middle of the mall and it looked like all these people were having a good 'ol time so I wandered over like Curious George and a girl says, "Did you vote yet?" I said, "Um, no" (as I'm slirping my strawberry iced tea from C.P.K.) She says, "Come on and vote!" I'm reeled in now. I follow her away from James and Kaie and say, "What am I voting for?" She says, "Well, you're between the ages of 11 and 17, aren't you?" I say, "What?" (almost choking on my tea) and James and Kaie hearing this, laugh. I said, "Um, no, that was a while ago." And she says, "Oh, sorry, you can't vote then." As we'r...

In need of prayers for this family.

Here is an e-mail we recently recieved from our eldes. Please read and then pray. Some of you may know the Ing Family. They are members of the Hebron Lane church of Christ. This is a message recently written by Missy: Some of you already know, but the results of Nathan's MRI were devastating. We met with Nathan's oncologist, radiation doc, and neurosurgeon today. We saw the scans. There are 6 small tumors on Nathan's brain (1 in the original area and the others are spread out). There is also one on his spine. The doctors were shocked that this growth occurred so quickly after the radiation treatments. So, basically Nathan is not going to recover from this. The docs said they could give very aggressive chemo, and still only a very slim chance of cure. Of course this would have extreme side effects and Nathan would suffer greatly. Even if the chemo wiped out the tumors, the damage to his body would most likely kill him. We ARE NOT going to go this route. Nathan will start on a c...

It's been an emotional roller coaster for Favre/Packer fans this week. We're so sorry to see him go. Boo hoo! :(Off to WI today for 4 days. I haven't flown into Milwaukee in years. I'm excited I don't have to drive and fight Chicago traffic (there's NEVER a good time to go through). Be back late Monday! Happy weekend!---- Fri. 8/8 ----Fun at the WI fair today with mom:Gotta have the WI traditional Creme Puff:
