Good things!

I am really looking forward to this "season" of fun. Mainly because of all the generous people who are sending gifts this year. We are expecting about 35 packages and we will be able to pass them out to all the families. That will be so much fun.We were also invited to spend Thanksgiving with an American/Mexican family that celebrate the holiday here. He invites all the Americans over every year and we all celebrate together. It should be so much fun. I'm supposed to bring the dressing! But most of all we are having surprise guests for the Christmas holidays. A surprise for the kids that is. It will be really nice to have some of our friends here for the festivities. We are looking forward to it.Our car hasn't been found. (Not that anyone was really looking). We are driving a Vocho (Volkswagen) that we borrowed from a friend. I hope to find an old Jeep to drive. I have always wanted one and what better place to have a beat up old Jeep. The weather is perf...

Aww! The festivals of Mexico!

There's nothing like being awakened at 4 a.m. to a parade going down your street. With dump trucks honking their horns, a band which included trombones, tubas, and trumpets. They of course were waking everyone up to remind us it was the day to remember the "patron saint" of our neighborhood, San Diego, carrying a representation of him on a stick. Jeb just taught on Eph. 1 yesterday and was speaking of the true meaning of a saint. The difference being that the Catholics think saints are dead and to be worshiped. We are living saints thanks to our Lord. We also just finished dealing with the celebration of the Day of the Dead here. Tourists come from all over to see the celebration here in Mexico. Most houses have an altar in their house remembering their family members who have passed. This is not a bad thing per say, to remember. But, they put all of the dead's favorite things on the altar, different foods, drinks, etc. The sad thing is that they believe the dea...

Santa anyone???

I had a hair brained idea today. I usually have those (Jeb loves them, Ha!) Anyway, all joking aside. I thought some of you might like to play Santa this year. We have a great opportunity here to help christian families and families in need. I thought it might be fun if some of you would like to "adopt" a family from the church here and send a Santa package. Since I know each family personally I could give you their details and you could send me a package to secretly leave on their doorstep from Santa on christmas eve. It would be great fun for our family to deliver Santa gifts and the children here would get gifts that they NEVER get. What do you think? Give me a few days to get a response and then I will start assigning families.

Typical boy

I posted this on the bringing up boys group and thought I'd share it with you.My boy's funny.I was in a sappy mood the other day and I was hugging Will and telling him how much I love him and that he's growing too fast.He pulls away and says, "mom, look how fast I can punch!" (as he beats the air with his fists). The whole time I was hugging him poring out my heart to him, I KNOW that's what he was thinking! ****Sigh***** He is definitely growing into a man.

I was so excited to figure out that I can listen to my favorite US radio stations via the internet. I am so thankful for my internet for so many reasons. Without it I would feel like I was cut off from everything.

Update

No the car isn't back and won't be I'm afraid. Its the same make as taxis here so they are robbed alot and painted to be a taxi. The police are too scared of the taxi drivers because they have a great network of people that attack policeman when one is in trouble. So needless to say we won't be getting the car back. Also the house next door was robbed as well as two houses down the street. Jeb is coming back today instead of Saturday, which I am thankful for. My bigger concern though is about my police report that I had to make with the judicial system. They asked WAY too many personal questions and not enough about the car. Even after I got home one called and asked me how much money my husband makes. They also new Jeb wasn't coming back until Saturday. Unfortunately here in Mexico even the good guys are corrupt and share information with the robbers and then get a cut of the loot. Also because of politics there is no chief of police right now so the robbers are taking adv...

Off to Cancun!

No it's not what you think. Only Jeb is on his way. The kids and I are here alone for a week. Jeb left yesterday with 3 other preachers to take the long 20 hour drive to Cancun and to preach at the villages along the way. They are headed for their final destination in Cancun to teach at a congregation of about 70 liberal members who are willing to hear the truth. Please pray for them that the trip will be successful and that they will return safely.

Very important

I got this through an email from the American Family Association. This election is VERY important. Everybody needs to vote! If you think things are bad now, just waitOctober 8, 2008Dear Sheila,The upcoming election is the most critical election in the history of our nation. The very future of our nation’s foundation is at stake. Every person will be affected. If the liberals win, then our foundation will no longer be based on the traditional Judeo-Christian morality. It will gradually but assuredly be based on an ever shifting, ever moving foundation. If the liberals win, the damage can’t be stopped with elections two, four or forty years from now. America will forever be changed. We will keep seeing a gradual and growing hostility toward people of faith, especially Christians. The morals of our nation will continue to decline. Our children and grandchildren will pay the price. In case you may think I’m a “the sky is falling” type of person, you should know: When ...
