Thanksgiving is almost here!

Well I figured it's time for a new post...one because it's been a while, and two because I may not be able to update it next week since I'll be off work and away from the computer most of the time. The day before Thanksgiving my sister will be in town and we plan to visit a couple art museums here in town. She'll stay with us for a couple days. On Thanksgiving, my parents and other sister will join us for lunch/dinner. It looks like it will be a good holiday and holiday weekend especially.Have a Happy Thanksgiving next week! :)

It's Friday! YAY!

You know those weekends were you don't really have anything planned? Well this was one of them until a few days ago and our weekend almost got booked! Last night they brought their new entertainment center over so we could store it for a few weeks until they move into their new place. Then tonight we're going with some friends to a high school football game. Saturday we'll most likely go to the IMAX downtown and maybe the planetarium and/or zoo. What are your plans for this weekend?Well guess it's back to work for another 6.5 hours...

Thanks for all the ideas!

We're still not sure what we're going to do to replace that tree in the front yard but all your ideas are appreciated! We just need to see which of those are available down here. :)We had a good weekend...went to the movies Friday night (nice to get out but the movie wasn't all that great - nice and action packed but too much language)...and tried to go to Comedy Sportz Saturday but they were sold out by the time we got there, so we went to the mall instead.Hope your week is getting off to a great start!

Looking for Ideas to "Decorate" Our Front Yard

When the hurricane (Ike) came through, the tree in our front yard fell over. We put it back up but it doesn't look as healthy anymore so we're going to try to replace it (and not necessarily with another tree either). We looked at some flowers, shrubery, and waterfall decorations at a nursery this weekend but so far nothing...Anyways, here's what it looked like before the storm.Feel free to leave your thoughts below (or e-mail me if you like). :)Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Back to work after a nice weekend...

...that started off with dinner with some friends from church - What a blast! We realized we need to have more people over...it's just not enough to only see other Christians during services on Sunday and Wednesday. Then Saturday we went to the mall...which we hadn't done in a LONG time...and just enjoyed getting out of the house for a while. Sunday morning we visited a nearby congregation because a friend of our was preaching. He had a good lesson on the Cross and its significance to us. The format was different than what we're used to but it was a refreshing change. During the lesson, we studied 3 different songs about the cross. We learned a little about the authors and then went through each verse of the song, noting biblical references along the way. We went out to lunch with a couple other friends that attend there, and then we were back at home for evening services for another fine lesson. :)Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!

A New Week

It's time to start another week. We had our Fall meeting this weekend and the sermons were good as always. :) Other than that, we saw Space Chimps this weekend at the theater...it was pretty funny. What all did you do over the weekend?

I've Been Tagged...

...by her so here's 8 random things about me.I love to read books, but only started reading for fun again in the last few weeks. My last novel to read was Dee Henderson's Danger in the Shadows (btw it's a good read if you're into mystery/suspense/romance novels). My favorite color is blue. This is the only big city I've ever lived in.I enjoy cooking and experimenting with different kinds of food. (Over the weekend, I made a homemade pizza - made my own crust too! It turned out pretty good for a first try but will need a few modifications next time.)I love watching "older" (?) shows like The Waltons and The Cosbys..and Full House but I think that's a "newer" show even though they don't really play it on TV now.My favorite game shows to watch are "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" and "Wheel of Fortune".I work 9 hours days instead of 8 hour days so I can have every other Friday off work. My Friday's off are usually spent grocery shopp...
