Last night, with some help I finished the LAST of my Ebay listings. Woohooooo! Course, there's still a bunch-load of Magic cards to be listed, but as far as the stuff I was primarily dealing with, it's all listed. No more inventory left. I have 343 active listings. Maybe I should make a ticker for that. HA.Argh, except that I just remembered that "one more thing..." of course... but at least it's just one thing. :)I got a new office chair. It is way more comfy than my previous office chair. Between that and the regular exercising, my back is doing a lot better these days! Not perfect, but definite improvement. Woohoo!Oh, I forgot to rag on Mike about the Spurs game L and I went to on Friday night. The Rockets were ahead by about 3 points the whole game, it seemed, up until the VERY last when we pulled ahead. It was great fun. I was especially pleased because 2 of the big guys were out on injury. There were some Rockets fans next to us that took off when the tide turned....

Today

I got up at 5:30. I went to work. I never went to my office. My coworker and I loaded up equipment in an SUV and drove a little over an hour out to cow (sheep? goats? grass?) country where we did water chemistry on five wells. I just got home. I'm sweaty, covered in dust, and I stink. And tomorrow I'll do it all again, except we're trying for six wells. And you know what? It was a good day. I love field work.

Huh.

So as it turns out, I'm like the least festive Holladay ever. As I was contemplating my closet on this lovely Halloween morning, I realized I didn't even have an orange shirt to wear to work today! I'll have to go by Old Navy after work or sometime this weekend and pick up a little pumpkin shirt for next year. Do they still have those cute $5 tees?I also didn't make pumpkin muffins, orange-sprinkled sugar cookies, or even a festive cake for my coworkers. I'm sure I'll be getting strange looks from them all day. "Who is this person, and why didn't she bring us food? She always brings us food?"Sigh. And you know what's worse? I didn't even bring Halloween candy. I know. Shoot me now.Maybe I'll make up for it at Thanksgiving. Or maybe I'll run by the grocery store at lunch and appease my coworkers with store-bought cuppycakes. We shall see. :)

Weekend fun and poll of the day

It was a good weekend. Friday night Linds came over so we could watch Baby Mama. I'd started watching it with Sarah after Nat had said it was funny, but didn't get to finish. I'm glad I eventually did- it's hilarious! Today I got a spam email with subject line: "Legitimate work at home job!" Well why didn't you say so sooner? Now of course I'll trust you!Fantastic party on Saturday. Spent all day getting ready for it (thank you for the help!) but wound up with a great turnout and a lot of good times had by all. I was highly entertained at the pleo-name introductions. "Firebolt! Come meet Tess." Hahaha. Makes me want to bust out the chorus of "It's a Small World." I still think Benj had the best costume. He came as Hitman and totally looked just like it. Also, I just don't spend enough time with my kid brother anymore. I need to remedy that. He's such a cuteypants. Special thanks to Mark for doing so much cookin'. I don't know how he always gets stuck d...

On the way to work, I saw about 20 rolls of toilet paper (all still rolled) on the concrete barrier side of the interstate. That confused me a little. Then I was behind a small SUV that had "Point Man" across the back in large letters. Not really sure what that was about.-------------------------Some of the questions I get from people on Ebay cause me to lose hope in humanity.A couple of my recent favorites:"hi, keen in this.. wondering if u can do $11 in total, to AZ? i dun mind the slower/cheaper shipping.. pls advice, tks..?""thanks and i goofed on the spelling of her company it is Hylant iam trying to get this ordered and as i should know when you try to hurry you goof up thanks again carrie"---------------------I *LOVE* (cough- sarcasm- cough) how elections turn everyone into the most knowledgeable person on the planet.
And now for something completely different

I was getting depressed looking at Alessandra and her fabulous hair, so I'm moving on to something different. (By the way, for those with sweater envy, ask for one of those for Christmas. You won't be sorry!) And yes, I do have it in two colors for those that suggested it! Lilac and the grey heather.I heard the craziest thing on NPR yesterday about the "Help America Vote Act." Did you know such a thing existed? I didn't. I just went to try to read it, and I can say without hesitation that I don't recommend it unless you are a) extremely, terminally bored or b) wish to be extremely, terminally bored. Anyway, this 2002 act was created in response to the Great Voting Disaster of the 2000 elections; aka the Hanging Chad Phenomenon. I'm sure that buried in the 65 pages of the Act (yes, I did a print preview just to see how many pages long it would be) are some useful tidbits and things that will in fact help our voting system, but the entire thing makes me think, "REALLY??&...

The Sweater

I'm wearing the most comfortable, wonderful sweater. It looks like this:except in lilac, and my hair is not nearly that fabulous.Anyway. I love my sweater. There's just one problem. I wear it every. single. day. That's right. I've become that person that everyone knows by the that article of clothing they wear every single day. I would love to bring multiple sweaters to the office, but truth be told, I only have one other such sweater that I could wear over everything and that would keep me equally so cozy and warm. I distinctly recall one of my elementary school teachers wearing the same horrid gold cardigan? jacket? shawl? thingy? every single day and thinking that there must be a million gum wrappers in the pockets. Not that this teacher chewed gum, that's just where my mind went. And this sweater doesn't have pockets... so... I guess I'm ok on lack of wrappers.Anyway. I feel like my love of having cute outfits to wear to work is being suffocated by the coldness of the bu...

Why I dislike malls.

I've been thinking for a while that I need a new post. I kept looking at my page and thinking to myself, "Self, that post is old. You need something new." But I didn't know what to post.Until lunchtime.I went to the mall that is close to my work to exchange some items and try to use a coupon. They have moved and redone two of my favorite stores, and they now look fantastic in what is a primarily ghetto mall. (Not ghetto-fabulous, either.) After taking care of the former and being disappointed on the latter, I started to walk back toward the mall exit. Ahead of me there was a young Muslim woman (judging by her hajib) pushing a baby in a stroller. As she passed one of those kiosks in the middle of the floor, a guy in there *RAN* toward her and said, "Hey! Can I talk to you for a minute?" She shook her head and continued to walk past and he FOLLOWED her, half yelling, "How come??" My face contorted into a dirty "how dare you" look crossed with &...

How many is too many?

Soooo... how many articles of clothing can a person own that are identical in all aspects except color before it gets to the point of ridiculousness? :)Sarah and I had a lovely trip to San Marcos on Saturday and found some fantastic sales, which resulted in the purchase of my 8th and 9th VS boucle sweaters. Now, in fairness, some of them are turtleneck and some are v-neck or scoopneck.... and I even have a long boucle jacket (or two) but my goodness these things are wonderful. And they were each $5.99! Now I just need for the weather to cool down so I can enjoy the soft smooshiness that is my sweater collection. As an aside, I've done the same thing with their cotton kate fit pants. I believe I have... um... six? pairs. But hey, pants are hard to fit, no?I also got a Gap dress I've been coveting for $8.99. Much better than the $40 it was last time I was there. This will be useful for the 4-5 weeks I have left before sweater weather.Doug was off shooting things with the boys this...
