Its beginning to look alot like 80 degrees......

Oh yes it is!We are leaving Wednesday morning for the sunshine state. Woo Hoo! We are fortunate this year to get to spend Thanksgiving with my brother Joe and his wife Bonny. We are also going to get to spend time with several cousins, so we are looking forward to that as well. The kids are especially excited. Joe has a suprise for the boys involving firetrucks.(they can't wait to visit his fire station) We are also doing Micky's very merry Christmas Party at Disney Worlds magic kingdon. We will also be spending a night at the Wilderness lodge. We are all very pumped about this.I will ask for your prayers for a safe trip. It seems all I have heard on the news in the last couple of weeks, is about air traffic control problems and the nightmares of holiday travel. Ugh! So, if you could add us to your prayers, it would be much aprreciated. One more thing. On Satruday Dec. 1 will be our second annual (I hope) holiday open house. It is drop in style from 5-9pm. For those of you in the...

Fall Break and Parent/Teacher conferences

Today officially starts our fall break. Alex didn't go to school at all today and Jake only goes a half day. We have the rest of the week off.Last night, we had both of the boys p/t conferences. I love hearing what the teachers have to say. Mrs. Cookston said Alex is well-behaved and very artistic, just like Jake. (she had Jake in kindergarten) He is right where he is suppose to be for his age. Mrs. Dix showed us Jakes test scores so far (which were above where he should be) She stated if he continues as he is, he should be an honor-roll student and be able to do whatever he wants in life. She said Jake is also well behaved but, does tend to want to be the "funny guy". I am sure that doesn't surprise some of you who know him well. I am very happy with both reports. The boys are both currently playing basketball. I am Alex's coach. We had our first practice yesterday. Brian is helping with Jake's team.As for fall break, we don't have to many plans. We will be heade...

When it rains it pours.....

and I am not talking about actual rain. I am talking about the nasty stomach virus that seems to be running rampant through out the school and church.Emma got sick Thursday night. I hate to be so graphic, but she was vomiting every 20 minutes for the first 3 hours. It then went to every hour to every hour and a half through the night. During the day on Friday it was about every 2-3 hours.Brian had bought us Cubs/Reds tickets for the game Friday night in Cincinnati. Needless to say Emma and I got left behind while Brian, my mom and the boys went. Major Bummer.Saturday the boys followed suit and by Saturday night I had 3 kids getting sick. I felt like I was running in all directions. You would not believe the loads of laundry I have done.I thought by Monday things would be fine, but Alex ended up having a relapse, and stayed home.Last night Brian was sick all night. I am crossing my fingers that I am not next. I am so ready for this to be gone. I think I am going to need a...

Crockpot season

I don't know about you, but I love the crockpot. I don't use it much in the summer, for obvious reasons. (thats grilling season)Anyway I did barbeque pork chops in my crockpot last night and thought I would share.....boneless pork chops1 can cream of mushroom1 cup catsup1 T. worstershire sauce1/2 cup chopped onion. (I used minced)Put in crock pot for about 6 hours. Cook on low for 4 hours. Turn on high last 2 hours( this may not be absolutely necessary especially if your not home, but I like the way it thickens the sauce)This is YUM! I served with baked potatoes, green beans, and bisquits.Enjoy! I am also curious if anyone has any great crockpot recipes to share.

Update...

Seems that we are quite busy, but when it comes to a post it doesn't seem that there is that much to talk about. I guess I just don't know if its interesting enough to share. Its probably time though, since I am getting a "whats up" from my cuz.School is in full swing of course, and Alex seems to be really enjoying Kindergarten. He is also playing soccer again, and he loves that. Its super fun to watch. Jake is thriving in 2nd grade. He does complain some when it comes to the homework. Every week they have a poem to read to as many people as they can and then have it signed. The last two weeks he has been taking it to church on Wed. nights, and has had the most signitures in the class. (thank goodness for church family) He also calls my mom and his Uncle Joe in Florida. Its pretty cute.Emma and I are enjoying our quiet mornings. She pretty much does her own thing. She is so good about sitting and playing. She loves her baby dolls. Another one of her new found loves is C...

First day of school.

Today is the boys first day. Jake in second grade and Alex in Kindergarten. They looked so cute this morning. Alex couldn't wait to get on the bus. Brian and I both drove down to the school to see them get off the bus, and then Brian went on to work. I stayed to watch them dismiss to the classrooms. Everyone starts in the gym and then the principle dismisses by class. Alex was really excited, but Jake seemed nervous. He loosened up a little when he saw some of the the kids in his class that he is buddies with. So, starting this morning, it will just be Emma and I in the mornings for about 3 1/2 hours (Alex goes half day).Whatever will we do with ourselves?....... ;)
