Our Little Tinkerbell

Halloween from T Pervine on Vimeo.Tinkerbell having a video call with Tigger and his Mom and Dad.Tigger was sick and didn't get to go Trick or Treating. :(By the way, the shoes were too tight, but she loves shoes so much that she wore them anyway. You can't keep a girly-girl from her sparkly shoes. :)

Private posts

I have been making some of my blogs private lately, and probably will be doing that most of the time (when I remember to). If you are not on my friends list, but would like to be, let me know and I will add you. I don't have to know you personally for you to be added as a friend, I am just trying to keep my personal stuff away from the non-pleo web.

This may fall into the "too much information" category for some people, but a few poeple have asked questions about Addi's surgery. Dr. Christian was able to do everything she planned to do (Bidirectional Glenn, DKS and 2 pulmonary artery grafts) and was very pleased with the results. Addi received 70cc of blood (a little less than a third of a unit of blood). She also received plasma and platelets. The blood and plasma were donated by some nice men from the Franklin (Franklin,TN) congregation and the Sutton Lane (Mayfield,KY) congregation. The doctor did not anticipate the need for platelets, so they came from a stranger. We know for sure she will have to have another surgery called a Fontan when she is between 2 and 4. The Fontan completes what the Glenn started. After the Fontan she will not have any mixing of oxygenated and unoxygenated blood in her heart because her heart will only be pumping oxygenated blood to her body. We are hoping her O2 sats will come up af...

Addison Update 4/16

We got home around 4pm on Monday. Addison slept all of the way home. So far so good. She seems to be doing amazingly well. She was quite happy to be home. The first evening, we had to carry her around so she could touch everything, and I mean everything. She wanted to touch all of her toys, her bed, the pictures, and even the door frames. She was one happy girl…as long as we were carrying her around and letting her touch everything. Not so much when we set her down. Yesterday all she wanted to do was go outside. As soon as you walked toward the door with her, she would let out these cute little girl squeals of joy. She is eating a bit better, but still not back to her normal formula intake. She wants table food, but doesn’t really have enough teeth to deal with it. Last night she had some Mexican rice and refried beans. She would not eat it if it did not come off of someone’s plate. Even then, she has to SEE it come off of their plate. Last night she was being...

Addison has been discharged!

Addi was just released from the hospital about an hour ago. We have decided to spend the night in Nashville since it is so late in the day and it is too late to check out of the hotel anyway. She seems to feel good, but I think she really wants to go home. I am very tired. This has been quite an exhausting few days.

Update

She has already stepped down from the most critical pod to the less critical pod. They are removing her arterial line and central line right now. There is talk of moving her to a room either later today or in the morning. She tried to wave to her Mommy and she stuck her foot up in the air toward her Mommy in an attemp to play a game we play with her that is affectionatly called "stinky feet". It consists of her sticking her foot in your face and you making a silly noise and telling her it is "stinky". She never tires of that game. The night before her surgery she had everybody smelling her stinky feet. Anyway that is a good sign that in spite of her pain she is at least thinking about playing. :)

How blessed we are..

..that God listens to our prayers. I am so touched by all of the petitions to God on Addi's behalf. Addi had a pretty good night. She was much more alert and is progressing well. Her O2 saturation is between 77 and 82% but she is still on oxygen and morphine so it is hard to say what it will be when she is all healed from this surgery. She had pedialyte during the night and also a little milk twice. Keep the prayers going, things are looking good, but the road to recovery is still long.

Progress report

Addison is breathing on her own as of 9pm. She has been trying to wake up, and appears to be in a lot of pain. Also, she is very hoarse from the breathing tube and and her throat is very dry. She can't have anything to drink until 2am. A good prayer for tonight would be for her comfort in addition to healing. Thank you all so much.

Surgery is OVER!!!!!!!!!!

Addison came through the surgery and is in the recovery room. Mommy and Daddy should be able to go back to see her in about 30 more minutes. So far everything seems to be good. Please thank God for the progress so far and continue to pray for her recovery. She still has a long way to go.
