Angrier than Usual

Okay, you know what? I'm sick of it. Positively sick and tired of being constantly reminded that I'm single. All I ever seem to see on Facebook ads are for sites for 'Christian singles'. Every time my mom hears about a guy I've met, she wants to know if he's single.I.Don't.Care.Do I like the fact I haven't had a boyfriend in over 3 years? Not particularly. But I've learned to live with it. I've learned so much about myself - who I am, what I want, what makes me happy - more than I ever learned while in a relationship.Yeah, I screwed up a couple years ago and had a few meaningless flings. But I learned that's not what I want out of my life - if I end up in a relationship, I want something serious.I could've settled. I could've gotten married at least 3 different times. But I wouldn't have been happy and, in turn, those guys wouldn't have been either and neither would any children we might have had together. In short, I'm not less of a person because I'm not in a relationship....

So, I found out today that one of the guys I work with is a member of the church. How awesome is that?!Speaking of, I've talked religion pretty often lately with a couple friends. I have a lot of hope for one in particular. She knows I'm religious too and she's come to me with questions and feels comfortable talking to me about church things. My other friend, while he's actually pretty knowledgeable about Biblical things, feels that church really isn't for him and is fine with agreeing to disagree. I'm just trying to find the balance between being too passive and too preachy. In other news, the fam and I visited Mom's family in KY last weekend. Went pretty well, actually. Probably partially because one certain family member who likes to cause trouble decided not to show up. I guess we're going to see Dad's family this Saturday, which is always a touch on the awkward side. *sigh* Well, at least it's only once a year. I know it sounds terrible, but I've never been close to my blood re...

So, I'm changing churches again, effective Sunday. It's strange. I was at one congregation for 18 years before leaving and now, just over a year later, I'm moving again. At least this time I get to say goodbye.I'm kinda excited about it, though. The church I'm going to is much smaller than I'm used to, but they're good people I get along well with. I think I need someplace where I know I can do some good work, as well as be unable to fall through the cracks - people will notice if I'm not there and will bug me about it. It's no secret I've been wavering for the last year or so and I think this move will be good for me. Plus, it'll be nice to see the Sils more often. My life has been in a complete upheaval the past few weeks. While it's been a good kind of crazy (for once) I'm more than ready for things to settle down again.

So...Obama won.I was nauseous at first. Almost in tears. But I refuse to believe all is lost.I still believe Conservatism is alive and well in this nation. And we will not be intimidated. We will cling to our guns and religion to the bitter end - no one will take that away from us. There is still enough opposition in Congress to stop whatever Obama wants. Besides that, he has proven thus far to be all rhetoric and no substance - I can't see that changing overnight. We have survived poor presidents before and we will continue to survive them. I will continue to believe in the spirit and strength of the people of this great nation. Even with an Obama presidency, we are still the most blessed country on this planet. Perhaps this was the only way to show the liberals what it is they're actually asking for - and when the American people realize what a mistake they've made, it'll be perfect timing for the next Reagan to step in and fix it.Most importantly, the one thing that hasn't ch...

The move went off rather well, I thought. Devin and I got most of our stuff moved Tuesday. There are still a few things at the 'rents, but nothing terribly important. Been here a week now and I absolutely love it. It's still a little daunting and surreal, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I'll try to get some pics up soonish.I'm just grateful that, after the past few years of feeling like my life had completely stagnated, I'm finally going somewhere. My life hasn't made this much sense for a long time. I don't know how long this will last, but I'm content knowing that, for now, I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.

So, I got tagged yet again (thanks to Anna). Since I've done this before and it's almost midnight, these 8 facts are gonna be pretty random. No guarantees on how informative they may or may not be.1. I served jury duty once - three very long and emotionally draining days. Perhaps someday I'll share the long version, but the short one is this: we found the guy guilty of murder, attempted murder, car-jacking, and a few other things.2. I actually enjoy gardening. Bugs and dirt don't bother me.3. I've never broken any bones...that I know of. Though my ankle does pop kinda weird since I sprained it pretty badly a few years back. As does my knee, after I twisted it roller skating.4. I did the choir thing for awhile and sometimes I miss it. Performing (and applause) is like a drug.5. Shortly before I turned 10, a girl a couple weeks older than I told me that "once you hit the double digits, you're not afraid of anything." Ah, if only that were true.6. If I don't get &quo...

Last Saturday, I got to meet one of my favorite authors, John Green. And he signed all 4 of my books.I move in a week. Like, woah. It's cold. Like, I love autumn and all, but it makes it very hard to come out from underneath my very warm and comfortable blankets. Our desktop computer, which has been basically serving as a very large and awkward-looking paperweight for the last 8 months, has suddenly started working again.I got a haircut. It's pretty awesome:
