Back from vacation

The vacation time was very nice. We all got to see family and friends and enjoy a beautiful wedding.Emma rode on a cow and horse and fed some goats. She loved it. Haley got on the cow too. I think she liked it. :)I hope to post something more on my next entry, but for now it's time for me to play catch up at work.Everyone have a wonderful week!

Monday Ramblings

First, I want to thanks all of those who commented on my last blog. I knew some of you read my blog, but it is nice to know that there are others who read it. For those, who read my blog but didn't comment...that's ok. I'm glad you stop by.The weekend was nice. Crystal, the girls, and I went and did a bit of shopping. Emma got a lot of new fall/winter clothes so that's nice. The rest of the weekend was quite relaxing.A new thing I'm doing with Emma is talking with her on the phone. You see, Emma has a toy cell phone and she calls all sorts of people and has these mock conversations with them. They do seem pretty real because she'll pause as if she's listening to someone talking to her and then respond back. It's pretty cool to watch. Anyway, Crystal and I have her talk to her Grandmarmee and Mama G, but I have not really tried talking to her. So on Friday I had Crystal put Emma on the phone and sure enough, we had a nice little conversation. She was telling me where her d...

I feel the need to post even though I'm not sure what to write.

That title sums it up for me. There's all sorts of things in my head, but when it comes to writing them down, either I don't remember what I want to say when I click on "Add Entry", or I'm not sure I want to put it up on pleonast. I do feel like the few people that pass by my blog should get some "meat" in them.Which now that I have just written that above statement makes me ask myself, who does read my blog? I do see some of the same people reading it with the few comments I get, so I know a few people pass by, but since I don't usually have a lot to offer anyone, I don't get a vast amount of comments from people. So with that I'd like to know (if you reading this are willing) who reads my blog. I saw this done by some people before asking for the lurkers to comment so they know that people are reading or passing by and I think this sounds like a fun idea. Also, for those who only read the beginning and ends of blogs...here's the skinny of what this blog is...

homemade ice cream

There's nothing like it. I labored on labor day making my signature cinnamon vanilla ice cream. Well, I didn't exactly labor since the crank is electric, but I did do some stirring and had to properly mix the ice and rock salt.Anyways, the ice cream came out just the way I like it and for those in my family that ate of it, I believe that they liked it too. There's a bit left for me to eat some more today. I'm looking forward to that.Everyone have a great week!

Olympics and hurricanes

The Olympics in Beijing start this week. It has made me think back 4 years ago when I was in Greece working at the Olympics for my company. I didn't sign up this time to work their. A lot has happened in 4 years (let's see, a wife, 2 kids, etc...) that I decided that I was not going to go. I'll have to look back at the Greece pictures again. You all can look at the Greece pictures if you want; the link is at the left. So, it seems that a tropical storm/hurricane is heading our way. Tomorrow should make for an interesting day. I'm just glad that I work from home tomorrow because even if nothing happens like it did with H.Rita, the people in the city tend to go crazy. So for all of you possibly affected...remember the three P's, pets, plants, and people.....wait....that's for freezing weather. Hmmmm...ok how about stop, drop, and roll....nope....that's for someone who's burning. Is there something for hurricanes? Not sure on that one. :)In all seriousness, I'll use these ...

Banana bread and Starbucks

My awesome wife made banana bread and I have the pleasure of eating it for breakfast this morning. My dad brought me a Starbucks Frap drink this morning too, so in addition to my banana bread, I'm drinking some awesome coffee.I think it's going to be a good day...or I think I'm just going to be hopped up on sugar for awhile.Anyways...I hope you all have a great day!EDIT...my crazy-cool brother had a part in getting me the coffee. I must make sure to give credit where credit is due. Thanks bro! /edit
