8 Interesting Facts about myself.

Well, I was tagged, and I'm just now getting around to doing this. I don't know how interesting these are actually going to be to y'all, but here goes!1) I don't like some popular foods like watermelon, cheesecake, whip cream/coolwhip, syrup on my pancakes, and probably more. And I can only eat a certain amount of sweets in one sitting. I'm not a huge cake fan, with the exception of my mom's triple chocolate cake, carrot cake and red velvet cake. But I would much rather have pasta, rice, or something starchy than chocolate and sweets.2) I can make a funny voice that sounds like a chipmunk. Personally, I think I should have played Theodore in the new movie, but whatever!3) I broke the same finger twice.4) I can't cross my left leg over my right when I'm sitting in church, but I can do it the other way around. (I don't know if that's all that weird, but it's frustrating.)5) My parents used to put a leash around my wrist whenever we went sightseeing in London. I know, cruel, huh? I ...

Weekend in Wisconsin

Well, I had a great time this weekend up in Wisconsin. Thursday Cory picked me up from the airport and took me to the Tim and Melissa's, where I was staying the first night. We had a great time playing Settlers of Catan with John, Kelly, and, yes, Jonathan, too (who made my heart melt when he called me "Rissa"). The next morning was great, seeing as I practically missed it all due to some wonderful beauty sleep. Cory came and picked me up after his class and took me to meet Whit and then his roommates, Korey and Branden, who are an absolute hoot to hang out with. Then we all hopped in the car to go to have hamburgers and a bon fire at Dennis and Melia's (thanks for having sweet tea, by the way; it was the only time I got to have any!). We sang hymns around the fire and made smores. I got to sleep in Becca's room, which was great because it's all decked out in LOTR and Pirates stuff! Saturday we had a healthy and tasty breakfast of buckwheat pancakes and homemade juice (yummy!...

Almost there!

Well, in one way, it's hard to believe that it's already been two years since I started the photography program at Gwinnett Tech, but in another way, it seems like forever.I would like to apologize to pretty much all of my friends because I know that I have neglected everyone lately. I tried to find a happy medium between friends and school, but I don't think I really did. There are so many times that I know I either forgot or didn't have time to call back, times that I couldn't attend Bible studies, and times that even though I might have been around, my mind was still on school. I love every single one of you and am so blessed to have friends like y'all. Thank you for being patient with me, and helping me through these stressful times. I don't know what I would do without such wonderful friends and family.Wednesday was portfolio grading day, and it was torture. We turned our portfolios in at 9:00 Wednesday morning, and the judging was over at 9:30 pm, so we didn't find out the...

Almost there...

Okay, so after 7 quarters of exciting yet very humbling photography school, I am almost there. I have one more quarter of photo classes and one more after that of psychology and marketing, and Marissa Jonas will have an Associates Degree!! But just getting through this next quarter will be extremely tough, mostly because there's just not enough time in one day to get everything done. It will be difficult to keep my priorities where they need to be, to remember that I didn't get where I am on my own, and I can't get any further without Him either. He deserves more time out of my day than just a few minutes of Bible reading and a couple of prayers. It's strange to think how quickly life is changing. Kaitlin is going to FC, Andrew is getting his driving permit soon, I am finishing school and not sure what I'm going to be doing after... growing up is just hard I guess.Well, I had better get to bed. Have a good Lord's day, and God bless!~M

So, it's been a while...

Sorry for not updating sooner. Things have been quite busy lately. School is going pretty well. The only problem is finding time to get everything done whether it's shooting, developing or printing photos. 24 hours just isn't enough time to get everything I need done in one day. Work is good. I love working for the health system. I am learning so much, and I love all of the nice ladies I work with. I start my two-week internship in mid-March. I am interning with a British photographer up in Virginia, so I can stay with my parents. I am really excited about this arrangement, and I know that I will get so much of it. I'm hardly home anymore. Between school work (yes, even on Saturdays), work, visiting Auburn, and Bible studies, I hardly have time to breathe anymore. I just have to keep reminding myself that it's only for about 9 more months. Portfolio show is going to be Saturday, September 6th at Art Station in Stone Mountain. I will give more details later. I can't wait to see my fam...

*Sigh*... I can't believe the summer is over.

This has been the busiest summer of my life. Huge life changes have occurred in the last two months, including (but not limited to) packing up the house, working at a new store, my family moving to Virginia, me moving in with my dad's cousin and her family, and more friends leaving for FC. I would never have thought that so much could happen in such a short period of time. I miss my family like crazy, mostly for the hugs, the food, the games and the laughs. However, the new responsibilities I have had to take on for myself, like shopping, laundry, fixing the car when you get a flat tire, and paying for my own gas, have taught me so much just in the past few weeks. So many people have told me that it will all be okay, and I knew it would be, because God is in control, but I am just glad that I can finally see signs of that for myself. I get to go up to VA for fall break in September, and I am sooo excited. I can't wait! The fam doesn't have internet or a landline yet, so if you ...

Sorry It's Been So Long :)

Hey everyone!Sorry it's been so long since I've been on here but so much has been going on! For starters, school is almost out! I can't believe it! SENIOR YEAR HERE I COME! I just got through predicting the future for an AP project that I have to present tomorrow. My grades are pretty good this year, all A's except for APUSH but I'm better off now knowing what my grade is in there. Only 2 days left of school and then I'm out til after Labor Day. But even better than school being out....I'm going to GA camp! How exciting! I'm still pretty shocked myself considering I've been against going for so long. But it'll be a BLAST!The EH banquet was a couple of weeks ago. It was amazing! Everyone looked so good! We ate at the place where Gone With the Wind had it's premiere dinner which was awesome! It was beautiful in there and (besides the rain) the night was great. We also went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens which is beautiful as well. I like the pictures so far, I just have to see the...
