Twilight...

It is now 3:00 in the morning and I just got home. My friend, her girls, and I went to see the sneak preview of Twilight tonight. It was neat to be there with so many fans. They cheered and hollered in all the right places! I loved it!!!

Kevin and I voted today. Now our voices have been recorded and all we can do is sit around and wait for it all to be over.BTW - has anyone noticed how many people are casting their ballots early?

Happy birthday to me!!!

Today was my birthday!!! It was really nice because I have such a wonderfull family. My kids made cards for me( those are the best kind)!! My husband surprised me while I was walking on the treadmill with a card and gift! Talk about helping you get through a workout!! Connor learned how to play "happy birthday" on his guitar for me! My in-laws stopped by with a yummy birthday cake!! Finally, I had a girls night out with my mom, my sister, and my friend. We went to eat downtown at YAO's, went halloween costume shopping, and ending the night with cheesecake at the chesscake factory. Overall, the only thing missing was sharing cake with my kids and husband!!!

Soccer anyone....

Alisha is a soccer star!!!! She completely rocks on the field. She had a game saturday and we were amazed at her skills. It is such a blessing to find that thing that your kids succeed in. Sports are definately her thing!!! On another note, I now have a second job teaching General Science at our coop. The regular teacher had a lot of damage from Ike and is unable to return this year. So....I'm it. I have to tell you that although I have always been strong in science, I am having to clean the cobwebs out to remember some of these things like how to find the mechanical advantage of levers and pulley. Austin is in the class which makes it fun to teach. There are 16 7th & 8th graders in the class. The labs are fun to do, however, I really hate grading them. Well, I gotta go make supper and go pick Austin up from his friends house before bedtime. Latter!!!!

Is anyone else VERY afraid of life ...

if Obama becomes our president? I know that God is in control and that His will will be done for our country. I just can't help feeling like it's going to be really bad if Obama wins.

Don't you just love your mom!!!

I love my mom and think that she is the best. Not only do she and my dad manage to stay completely occupied by all of their kids drama (you know you are never really done being a mom or needing your mom), but takes on my friends drama too! I learn from her constantly and am amazed that I ever thought she didn't understand me or my problems. Many of you may not know that my parents adopted me when I was 7-8 years old. I feel blessed every day that they took me as their own even though I had many problems that had to be worked on. They must have done something right because my life is not the train wreck is was headed for. She instilled in me the desire to be a Godly woman and even now shows me how to never stop striving to reach heaven. I just thought I would share this little "Ode to My Mom" Today she and my dad have Austin for the day. They are just hanging out with him and doing his school work with him. They got it easy actually. Austin is very self-motivat...

Emily

I think that my daughter Emily may grow up to be a writter. She is always writing and illustrating books for us. She wrote the cutest book for us today about a shell. For the first time ever she actually titled it. It is called "The Shell" . I wish I could scan the pages for you guys to see. Here is the story....The front has a picture of a shell inside a heart.Pg 1It is raining on our house.Pg 2The shell is in the sand with rain.Pg 3A close up picture of the pretty shell.pg 4Emily is playing in the beach with the shell in the background.Pg 5Emily is so happy that she found the shell.Pg 6We are in the car going home with the pretty shell.Pg 7The EndSorry if this bores you, but, I think it is so cool that she writes books for us all the time and thought I would share.Blessings!!

We survived IKE

We did not get any significant damage. A palm tree fell over in the back yard and an oak is close to falling over on the side. We got our power back last night. Overall, we feel bleesed. Please pray for those not so lucky. Several people from Southside have lost their homes due to flood water and/or wind and tree damage.

I think we may be rebels...

We have decided to stay and ride out IKE even though we are in a mandatory evacuation zone. Our house is 25 - 27 feet above sea level so I don't think we will be flooded by the surge. We really feel it will all be fine and have a few neighbors that are staying too. I guess the kids will get to have their first hurricane experience!! Please pray for us and all those that will be in the paths of the storm!!
