CHANGE

Funny how that little word holds so much value to people today. "Change has come to America," said Barack Hussein Obama last night at his acceptance speech. It's been his entire platform. I'm sick of hearing it, frankly. As a person who loves change and gets bored easily, I can understand how this is appealing to many. However, I think the question that hasn't been asked is, "How are we going to change?" As I watched the Obama supporters with tears of joy run down their checks, I wondered if they had any idea how Barack plans to change this country. It may not be for the better. Is he going to pull our troops and destroy all the progress we've made? Is he going to pull conservative radio so we no longer have an equal voice? Is he going to prevent us from bearing arms? We already KNOW he's a socialist. Amazingly, as I was listening to the election coverage this morning, Rick, from the Rick and Bubba radio program, told of the number of conservative Chri...

Click It Music Video

OK -- This is a shameless effort to solicit your help with something. For some of you, this is just a reminder. =-) My son's first grade teacher, Mr. Smith, has entered his class in a video competition. Today, Mr. Smith found out that we made the top five!!! The winner of this contest will win $25,000 in technology upgrades for their classroom. Thirty percent of the final score is based on the number of votes their class receives. So, here is what I want from you...1. Go to www.eimakeover.com.2. You will need to register. It's not a big deal to do so, but you will fill out a form, they will email you a confirmation, and you will have to confirm in order to login.3. Once you have registered, you are looking for the video called "Click It." They are in the K-5 category (obviously). Either watch or don't watch the video (although it is really cute), but vote for them at the top right of the page. If you notice the one kid singing obnoxiously loud, you are hearin...

A rough time

I AM READY FOR MY HUSBAND TO COME HOME!!!!!!!!!! It's great that he is overseas and helping to spread the good news about Christ, but I am really ready for him to be with us again. Garrett is getting tougher and tougher, clingier and clingier. My brother is here helping me out (THANK YOU, Jonathan!!!), and at lunch today when Garrett asked for his cup and Jonathan slid it to him, Gare said, "NO! Mama do it!" and threw a fit. *sigh* I think he thinks that Tim has abandoned him and is worried that I'm going to leave, too. Which, in the mind of a two-and-a-half year old, is understandable, but it is very, very tiring. Lots of good things happening overseas with Tim and the gang. I'll update you on that when he's home, and I'm not so worried about what I can and can't say. Jonathan preached a WONDERFUL sermon for us on Sunday night. It's been a long time since I've heard him speak. The congregation was very receptive to him. It was a good night. =-)I hope you al...

Huntin' for Girls

My six-year-old son, Douglas, informed me today that he is hunting for girls. When I asked him what that meant, he said, "I'm looking for a girl to marry. Hannah's on the list." (Hannah is a sweet girl in his class. He refers to her as his "girlfriend". *sigh*) So I asked him what kinds of things he liked in a girl, what would she have that he would like. This is what he said:"Cute hair, and a good heart. She would need a good heart. If she didn't, I don't think I should marry her. Good clothes, pretty eyes. But not someone who likes to be the center of attention."I could not help but smile through this whole thing. It never ceases to amaze me that little boys are SO BOY even at a young age. But at least we are getting thru to him, too. She needs to have a good heart and free from the need to be the center of attention. Yes, Douglas, then she'd be stealing your spotlight. =-) So sweet!

Boys' New Room

So, his entry on home remodeling reminded me that I wanted to post this. I have re-decorated the boys' bedroom. Now, I have nothing on her, but I was very proud of myself. The walls used to be brown... you know, the khaki color that all new houses are painted? Well, that is a beautiful color for a living room or a hallway, but not for three little boys. We went with a "Lightning McQueen" theme, and they love it. I haven't gotten the posters on the wall, because Hobby Lobby hasn't put the frames on sale yet. But here are some pictures of their new room with a racing stripe. Enjoy!

Tim to China

Well, today starts a three week long stint without my husband. He has gone to China to help spread the Good News. I am very proud of him for taking this opportunity. My uncle, Wilson Copeland, needed another man to go with him, and when he asked Tim, we both agreed it would be a great thing for him to do. The only down side is I have to parent without him for a little over three weeks. *sigh* But, it is worth it. Please pray for his safety, for their success, and for my sanity. =-P

Needed a New Blog...

Well, I was tired of that post, so I thought I'd update a little. Lots of nothing going on here, if you know what I mean. Seems like we run and run, getting things accomplished, but nothing you can really put your finger on. Know what I mean? Both of the older boys are in soccer, so that has kept us busy. Tim is coaching Todd's team, and they are both enjoying that. Not sure if we will do it next year... this league is frustrating us.School is going well for Douglas. His 1st grade teacher, Mr. Smith, decided to enter his class in a video contest. If they win, they get $25,000 worth of technology upgrades! His class placed fourth last year, so I think he has a shot. He wrote a parody to the song "Whip It" by Devo. The video is going to be hilarious. Instead of singing, "Whip it good!" they say, "Click it good!" It's about technology and how their classroom needs it. There is a point in the contest where the public has to vote for their favor...

OK -- I have to share this...

Tim and I went up to Douglas' school for a meeting the other night. In the hallway, the teachers post different things the kids are doing. Mr. Smith's class (Douglas' class) had drawn ways we can show respect. Most of the kids had drawn pictures of themselves showing respect in some way... obeying their mom, feeding the dog, not hitting a kid on the playground... but Douglas had quoted Colossians 3:9-10, "Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man in baptism." It isn't an exact quote at the end, but I was SO PROUD of him!!! He knows that verse because he has to read it when he lies about something at home. But to make the connection for his assignment in 1st grade was pretty impressive to me. He is already letting his little light shine! So sweet! (It's also funny that he didn't want to draw a picture like the other kids. Just a quote from the Bible will do.)
