Bit nippy this morning!

The kind of morning that makes me want to snuggle in a blanket with a good book, cup of coffee, and a roaring fire. But alas, Hallmark is calling. Hmmmm...wonder who I can make cry today. :)Looking forward to a nice quiet evening with the fam. I think we have a Blockbuster movie coming in the mail tonight. I need to think about something for dinner before I go to work. I really don't like thinking about dinner at this hour because we've just had breakfast! I'm thinking chicken might be the ticket. Now, what to do with it....Need to run Lauren to school. Have a great day everyone!

Don't cry for me, Richmond, VA!

Four hours of bliss at the library today. At least, the books don't talk back and don't cry! LOL I will probaby be working paging slips this morning, which I enjoy. They think I'm crazy but I love looking for all the requests that come in, everything from books to CD's to DVD's. It's like a scavenger hunt. Okay, this item is not on the shelf. Now, where would I be if I were that item? I like to challenge myself. We can have as many as 200 requests in the morning and I like to see if I can find them all in the 4 hour shift. It can be tough but a fun challenge. Or, how many items can I find in an hour? Silly, I know but I enjoy it.My ankle it WAY better than it was. I'm not sure if the meds are working or things are finally getting better. I don't really care and I'm taking advantage of it!Leah has started practice for the parade and Christmas concert season. They will be marching in the Ukrop's parade in December and they have a Christmas concert sometime. I assume a...

I brought a co-worker to tears today

Yes. Go ahead. Call me a meanie but I am feeling bad about it. Let me tell you the story...We have a woman that was hired at Hallmark in August and I'm convinced her brain is not making all the necessary connections. I don't say that to be mean. I'm serious. If you worked with her, you would understand. She still just doesn't get it. I'm not the store manager nor am I an expert at Hallmark but I have worked in both areas so I'm not inept, by any means. After working for Hallmark, in different venues, for over 5 years, I can pretty much take care of the Hallmark side of things in my sleep. I have never had anyone that cannot grasp and retain the simplest of instructions. And, folks, setting and maintaining cards is not rocket science. Neither is waiting on customers and ringing their purchases. But all that is beside the point. When you work, there is a certain prodical that most working people understand. Most people understand that if you show up late for work, you do...

Brrrr, Tuesday morning

Leah is home sick today, headache, sore throat, general blechiness. (I guess that's a word.) Which I'm not surprised since the poor child had to sit out in the football game with the band dressed only in their uniforms! WHAT??? Makes me wonder how many other kids are home sick today. I guess things got ugly near the end of the game. One of Meadowbrook's players started a fight with one of our players. (According to Leah) I guess the principal stepped in. The player then proceeded to fight with the principal, which is a woman, and then Bird cleared their bench making it a free-for-all. Nonsense! Complete and utter nonsense but not surprising because, I'm sorry, Meadowbrook is a school full of thugs. It's a shame they won the game and are heading to the next game because they don't deserve it because of their actions. Why is it that our society, especially our young people, are so eager to fight? Male and female both are ready to go at it if they feel the least bit of disres...

Nerves...

That was the doctors verdict. I have nerve hypersensitivity due to surgery. Go figure! So, I have been prescribed nerve pills, anti-inflammatory gel, and physical therapy. Not quite sure when I'm going to work that last one in. I'll figure that one out later on. All I know is I'm tired of hurting.Nothing else to report, I'm afraid. It's rainy and dreary here tonight. The family and I are going to settle in and enjoy ourselves with a movie or maybe a game or two. Yes, Sandra, I do play games now and then. :)Have a great weekend, everyone!

Monday morning

Nothing much to report. Well, nothing new at least. Kind of hard to have anything new and interesting when all I'm doing is sitting. I did finish a book! Life's a Beach by Claire Cook. I found it a fun read with a lot of humor. I love sarcastic humor and this book was full of it. I may try another book by her soon.Work tonight at the library. We'll see how that goes. I may have to ask for time off from both jobs until I see the doctor. Hmmm, I wonder if I can shelve books and sell cards sitting on one of those motorized chairs???Wish we could have made it up this weekend, Sandra. One more day until the election. Do you know who you're voting for?Have a great day!

Saturday morning

And no marching band competitions! Whatever shall we do??? We've enjoyed the season but we're very happy that marching band is over with. Well, at least I am. :) Next week is the last cross country meet for Lauren and then the Riley shuttle service can slow down a bit. Good thing, because I don't know how much longer the driver was going to hold out! I'm telling ya, I probably drive up and down Salem Church Road more than anyone in the county!MRI is finished and in the hands of the orthopedic. I have an appointment on Nov 14th to see them. I really hope they can tell me something because I'm really having trouble getting around. Left my library job early yesterday because of pain. I did manage to hobble through the grocery store later so I don't think we'll be starving any time soon. :) I have a high threshold for pain but I even have my limits and I'm afraid the limit is now. With nothing much planned for the weekend, I plan to sit and read.We have a nice 4 day weeke...

MRI

I have an MRI scheduled tomorrow evening for my ankle, again. Hopefully, this will determine what is wrong with this stinkin' thing! I'm getting tired of hurting and it is my GP instead of the orthopedic doctor that is finally getting something done. I tell you...I feel like I have to beat doctors over the head before they will listen to me. The orthopedic told me that I couldn't have another MRI and wanted to pump me full of cortisone. See why I don't like cortisone, people?!?!?!? It seems to be the cure all for some doctors. When I told my GP what the ortho doc said about the MRI, he looked at me like the man was crazy. I hope the MRI shows something! After working and then running shuttle service at the end of the day, I'm hurting pretty good. But what do you do? You can't stop living! I'm off to find my Percocet and hit the bed. I hope everyone has had a wonderful day.
