How did you sleep last night?

Occasionally you may wake up early, well before the alarm goes off. The house is quiet. Time to start getting ready for your day is still a ways off. Wide awake, you're faced with a choice - you can toss and turn and fret that sleep will not come, or you can get up and do something useful until sleepiness returns.Grab a blanket and a Bible and head for the couch. There in the predawn quiet you can do something useful - you can spend a quiet morning with God. You can open your Bible to any page and read until a verse touches your heart. You can re-read favorite passages and pray. Sometimes, even at three in the morning, your heart may be full of joy. You can sing quietly to God, who is the source of all joy. When sleep finally begins to return, you can thank God that you are His child and tiptoe quietly back to bed.Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.Psalms 97:11

Is it bedtime yet???

Greetings all! I hope your little ghosts and goblins are resting peacefully with smiles on their faces and bowls full of sweet delights on the kitchen cabinet. Our grandchildren came over and let us see them in their costumes and got a special treat from us and then went to a few houses around here before moving on to the other grandparents. They are so sweet! Even managed to whip up a sour cream pear pie for our eldest to indulge in for a special treat for her. We had a 70 degree day here for the Trick or Treaters, a perfect day for them. We also had more kids come than usual. I was worried that I was going to run out of candy! Anyway, another long, full day is behind us, bringing us even closer to Thanksgiving, and dare I say it, Christmas! It was a busy day for me as well. This morning I had to go see the EENT about my bug-gy ear and a recheck on the vertigo/Meniere's problems. The good news is that the infection is finally cleared up, although the doctor did say that it ...

Kind of a different day for me, the one who spends most of her time in the kitchen. Course, I did not get my hamburger buns made, but I will in the next few days. Not to worry. This morning we hit some of the local grocery stores for the best sales. We still only pay $1.99 for a gallon of milk most of the time. Got pears for .39 cents a pound. Not bad on that either. Came home, had lunch and back out the door. This time we went looking for a new stereo, as mine will no longer play CD's. (It is very old, and had already been "saved" once, but this time it will not be revived.) Now, I am the girl who plays her Florida College CD's every Sunday morning while I am dressing for services. I have not been able to do that for several months, so I asked for a new stereo. (I have, however, been able to play my FC tapes. Gotta have 'em.) Now, in looking for a new stereo, only a few pricey ones had tape players on them. Tapes are almost a thing of the past. There were a fe...

...and tomorrow the grandkids come over for us to play with. YIPPEE! Looking forward to it!Our trip was great. I have no complaints at all, other than it was too short. We are going to try and squeeze one more camping trip in before the end of the season, weather permitting.I did take my antibiotic for my ear, but I am not "cured." I saw the doctor tonight. She said that my ear canal is full of scabs and is red, irritated, and swollen. She gave me a liquid antibiotic to apply right into the canal, and it contains a steroid to try and "calm" things down. I was in tears with it this weekend one night, and last night also. I was also warned that if this was to ever happen again, to seek help immediately. Not a problem!!! I have to call tomorrow and set up an appointment with an ENT also, and have it looked at and see if my hearing has changed at all. I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease several years ago, and been on meds for it ever since, but it is n...

We are headed out of town again for a few days. Should be back with you all Sunday or Monday at the latest, and will catch up on your news once I settle in again. For those of you who have been concerned about my ear, worry no more. I am now on an antibiotic, just started today. Hopefully by the time I return home, it will be feeling MUCH better. I surely hope so myself.Love to all.Spicegirl

EDWIN

His clothes are tattered and torn,His appearance unkempt and disheveled. He walks the streets looking for places pastWhile inner voices are all that keep him company. His prized possessions are with him,Haphazardly tossed into a maltreated pillow-caseAnd proudly thrown across his back.He approaches me with determination and I shrink hesitantly,Not sure of his needs or wants. He appears calm, although his eyes are vacant and frenzied. His conversation is incoherent, his story begins somewhere in the middle. To no avail, I try to put pieces together to attempt to understand.Unexpectedly, he goes off on an angry tangent,And I wonder about and fear for my safety. We spend the better part of an hour together, He rambling incessantly, and occasionally wanting me to speak briefly.I remain clueless as to the subject of the exchange,But he has a captive audience and is very pleased. As quickly as it began, it ends, and he walks away happyWhile I stare after him in shocked amazemen...

1. I am basically a very shy person. I do fine in a one on one situation, but put me in a crowd and I clam up and wish I could fall through the cracks. I work on that constantly.2. I was once a true "Smurfette." I had developed a UTI while on a camping trip and the hospital issued a script for generic Pyridium. The taking of the generic caused my skin to turn blue! I called my regular Dr. when I got home and was instructed to go in immediately. She actually laughed at me! My hubby dubbed me "Smurfette" and he laughed also. No more generics for me!3. I will not eat hard boiled egg whites unless they are shredded finely. As a child growing up I had a brother who would not eat the yellow of an egg, so we made a great team and there was no waste. Nor will I eat fungus. No mushrooms for me. I am a tea totaler...no coffee for me, thank you anyway!4. I was baptized by my father on a Friday night. My parents were doing a Bible study with a woman and s...

Be-Bugged Reality

What a trip we had! I will count it among our best this year, starting off with the fact that it was at my favorite campground. Our campsite was perfect; spacious and secluded, right beside a babbling brook, the flowers in the hedges smelling sweet, and a distant train whistle could be heard every so often. How quiet and peaceful it was (until Saturday, when it really began to fill up in our area...) So, for most of the trip, we had a whole loop to ourselves. I took along my MP3 player, loaded with hymns, did my 10,000 steps while listening and singing to my hearts content. My path was strewn with crispy, freshly fallen, beautifully colored leaves. What could be better? Anyway, when it came to the songs "Exalted" and "I Am The Way," I was compelled to sit on the closest picnic table so I could sing the songs aloud and do them justice. It was an awesome experience.I had prepared potato salad, macaroni salad, chicken salad, shredded cabbage for cole slaw, an...
