More than one way to wear a scarf...

Sandy was showing Jack a new way to wear a scarf. I don't think he was buying it! Cold here. Drab, gray and cold. Wish we had snow like some other folks. Oh well, good baking weather and we have been trying out some new bread recipes. We had Middle Eastern Flatbread, yesterday. Today we are making Lavash- a cracker-type bread. Might need to throw together a pot of soup to go with it! Hope everyone is staying warm.

Hymn of the week...

I Will Praise Him StillWhen the morning comes on the farthest hillI will sing His name, I will praise Him, still. When dark trials come and my heart is filledWith the weight of doubt, I will praise Him, still. For the Lord, our God, He is strong to saveFrom the arms of death, from the deepest grave, And He gave us life in His perfect will, And by His good grace, I will praise Him, still.~Fernando Ortega

Deer season....

This is Jack(12y) with his very first deer- which he shot on his very first day hunting. Can you tell how pleased he is? He had an absolute blast hunting with his Dad. Memories made that won't be forgotten. For both of them.

Progress...

It's even farther along than this picture because we now have electric and insulation. But you can get the general idea. The weather has been so unseasonably warn- short sleeve weather- that they have really gotten a lot done. I am pretty sure that they will be opening it up to the rest of the house, tonight. Now that's exciting. We are also excited about our house guests getting here soon. Can hardly wait. We have been trying to clean up our big construction mess, but it's a huge undertaking! Joe has been really motivated. Hmmm... wonder why?

Hymn of the Week...

Love DivineLove divine, all loves excelling,Joy of heaven to earth come down;Fix in us thy humble dwelling; All thy faithful mercies crown!Jesus, Thou art all compassion,Pure unbounded love Thou art;Visit us with Thy salvation;Enter every trembling heart.Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit,Into every troubled breast!May we all in Thee inherit;May we find the promised rest.Take away the love of sinning;Take our load of guilt away;End the work of Thy beginning,Bring us to eternal day.Come, Almighty to deliver,Let us all Thy life receive;Suddenly return and never,Never more Thy temples leave.Thee we would be always blessing,Serve Thee as Thy hosts above,Pray and praise Thee without ceasing,Glory in Thy perfect love.Finish, then, Thy new creation;Pure, unspotted may we be be.Let us see Thy great salvationPerfectly secured by Thee;Changed from glory into glory,Till in heaven we take our place,Till we cast our crowns before Thee,Lost in wonder, love, and p...

Rainy day...

It's been raining steadily through the day and half of last night. Good weather for soup and painting some walls. I have the primer all on and the ceiling painted- "Lily pond blue" kinda a 1950's aqua. The walls are going to be Granny Smith apple green. I can't wait! I have a couple wallhanging quilts that were gifted to me that are gonna look great in that space- the hallway to my quilting room.So I guess I'll end my lunch break and get back to work!

Tuesday...

all is quiet. The little ones are sleeping and the older ones are occupying their time with quiet activities. The dining room project is coming right along. Will is picking up insulation, today. There is certainly a nip in the air and we'll be glad for the extra padding in the walls! I'm canning beans, today- using the ham bones from Sunday's lunch. I wish my Mom were home so I could ask for pointers, but I guess I'll muddle through on my own. I could always freeze them- now that I have room to spare in the freezer;) What are you up to, today?

Hymn of the week...

Day Is Dying in the WestDay is dying in the west;Heav’n is touching earth with rest;Wait and worship while the nightSets the evening lamps alightThrough all the sky.Lord of life, beneath the domeOf the universe, Thy home,Gather us who seek Thy faceTo the fold of Thy embrace,For Thou art nigh. While the deepening shadows fall,Heart of love enfolding all,Through the glory and the graceOf the stars that veil Thy face,Our hearts ascend. When forever from our sightPass the stars, the day, the night,Lord of angels, on our eyesLet eternal morning riseAnd shadows end.Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Hosts!Heav’n and earth are full of Thee!Heav’n and earth are praising Thee,O Lord most high!Mary A. Lathbury 1877(she also wrote, Break Thou the Bread of Life.)Hope everyone one has a blessed Lord's day.
