Happy birthday Logan

Today was Logan's third birthday. I cannot believe my little baby is 3. Where does the time go? 3 years ago today I was laying in a hospital bed with severe phlebitis from my groin to my ankles on both legs. He came out with no pushes as Paul caught him since the doctor wasn't there. He was beautiful. He is such a precious child. He never cries, never throws fits, no tantrums, etc. He is such a blessing. Happy birthday Logan, I love you so much.I got him some new church clothes. The first one was of him this morning before services. He kept stealing little bits of icing from his cake. This year he was so careful eating his cake compared to the last two years.

Yesterday I started my clinicals. We are in nursing homes right now. The ten girls in my clinical group are a great group of girls. We all get along very well and there is always a lot of laughter. The patient I was assigned to take care of over thenext several weeks is not in very good health. We had to go into their room, take their vitals, and than just get to know them. They told me that she might not make it over the next couple of weeks. She is only 70, but she is battling cancer. I am happy that I am able to be apart of her care over the next several weeks. We also had a dose calc test yesterday which we had to pass with a 100% or we can't give meds or shots. I am not so good with math....but I passed!!! That was a huge relief. I had Cade take a picture of my "first day" and than I will compare it to what I look like at the very end of school. I will probably be balding and the remaining hair will be gray!! Halloween is coming!! Hope you are all ready ...

We are doing good. Just getting in the Halloween spirit around our house. Well, in more of the spirit!! Tonight we carved our pumpkins and put them on the porch. Also on ABC Family, 13 days of Halloween started. This is all the classic movies we watch every year. Today they played Hocus Pocus. I cannot believe that Halloween is coming SO quickly. I have been watching people's faces as they walk by our yard. It's become quite the spectical. Wait until I get ALL the stuff out!! The Jason doll might just be too much! Ha! My folks and Ben are elk hunting right now. They called this afternoon, but we missed the call. They haven't gotten anything, but they have seen a couple elk. I get to start in the nursing homes this Friday. I am looking forward to it actually. I am more of a hands on learner. Hope you are all getting your tricks and treats out!!

Why We Put God First! by, Cade AllenThe reason why we put God first is he had his son die on the cross to take away all are sins. And, God has been there for us all the time. He never takes his eyes off us. He also has been with us when we are ill, & in trouble. And, even when we have done something so terrible he is still with us. Even when it is so important we still need to go to church every Sunday and Wednesday, and follow God. Satan temps us to follow his ways and to not follow God's ways. So, stay with God, and always trust God and the Bible will show you the way to get to heaven and not disobey God.So...Wednesday night Cade was busy scribbling something down in his notepad. He was very proud of his masterpiece and showed my mom and myself. So simple for a nine year old to understand. He even put scriptures to the side. He approached my dad after services and said he would like present his talk next week. My dad explain...

Well, I have made it through FOUR weeks of nursing school. At times I honestly did not think I could do it. There have been times I didn't think I had anything left in me...but from somewhere down deep it pulls me through. As a class we are getting closer, which is nice. Today I had foley catheter sign offs. Oh yes. I had not done it on the sim dummy until this morning, and it was a female doll. Not only do you have to cath the dummy but keep your sterile field AND remember every step in between. You have to draw out of a pile of papers to see if you get a male or female dummy...and I got the male. But, I did good- and I passed!! Phew! Our next unit is bowel elimination...I won't even go there. Well, we got about half of our Halloween stuff up. We have our purple and orange lights on the house. I bought a big spider web today made of orange lights with spiders that light up to put on the house. I will have to take pictures!Hope everyone has a good weekend!

A new edition to the collection...

First I'll start off with Cade's first football game. They won like 36-0. It was a family affair with us, the great grandparents, my folks, and Uncle Ben and Aunt Ashley. It was a great game! In nursing school today we learned how to give each other baths, change the bed linens while the patient is laying on the bed, put patient on and take them off the bed pan AND starting to learn foley catheters. I passed my sterile gloving technique today. It's SO much harder than you think! We even had to brush our lab partner's teeth! It was hard to have your teeth brushed by a friend. There was a lot of laughter! This week I had my first clinical. I went to one of the nursing homes in town and did my first complete health history on a resident there. It was very nerve racking when we first got there- but once we got with our resident they totally melted our hearts! I added a new piece to my Halloween collection. You would not even believe it. The Jason Voorhies statue I have b...

Come sail away....

We are on our way home from the Styx concert. I had no idea who was opening for them, but they had Kansas!!! Paul, Cade, and I had so much fun! Both bands sounded wonderful. They didn't sing Mr. Roboto, but Cade liked it anyways. He's already asleep in his seat. Maybe I'll start a rock band and play the state fair route! Ha!

Let's see. I'm still alive. Nursing school the first two weeks has been very overwhelming. I'm still working and I of course make sure I have enough time for my men. It's very cold here today. Where did summer go? Logan got a big boy bed. It has a door you can open and go underneath his bed. The other day he was crawling in there and then shutting the door. When he would open the door he would say "You can't hide from God". He would shut it again and then pop out and repeat himself. I died laughing. Cade is doing good. His first football game is Monday. Him and I are getting our Halloween plans underway. I put just a few items out-just a little teaser for the new neighborhood. Then I'll put out the big guns! I'm planning on buying a new animated statue this year. Friday we are finally going to the Styx concert. Cade won't know what to do with himself. For those of you that don't know, Cade sang Mr. Roboto for his talent show last year. Well, I'm off to bed.

Thank you!

I just wanted to thank you all so much for all the prayers, thoughts, and kind words I received. I am mending slowly but surely. They were able to save both of my ovaries. I am still very sore but I know that it will be worth it in the end. I have been VERY spoiled at home by Paul and kids. My parents have been a HUGE help, too. Thanks again!! I love you all!

Say a little prayer for me...

So, the day after Thanksgiving I was shopping in Target when I got severe abdominal pains and I wanted to pass out. I went home and put Logan down for a nap, and tried to lay down. The pains got increasingly worse, so I went up to the minor emergency. The doctor told me to go to the hospital. Long story short, they found two large cysts on my left ovary. After discussion with my OB she put me on some new birth control and hoped that would dissolve the cysts. I had a re-check sono in March and they saw that one of the cysts ruptured on the left one, but now I have one on the right. I must be a lucky girl. So, the last two months have been very painful for me. It is now getting to the point where I can't lay down at night. It feels like a large rock pressing on a nerve that goes all the way to my ankle. It literally makes me sick. I went to my OB Friday and I told her I was about to lose my mind. She did an exam and said that the cyst is bigger than it has ever been. NICE. ...
