A quick update

It's been a while since I posted on here. I post on our other blog a lot more just because it's easier and faster for pictures. We're doing great. Enjoying the Fall, although I wish it would cool down a little more here. The mornings are finally getting cooler but it is still warming up to the 80s by the afternoon. This time of year is when Victor and I miss KY the most. Kaitlyn is 7 months old today! I can't believe how fast she is growing. I thought time would go by slower once I was a stay-at-home mom but it's just the opposite. It seems like it was just yesterday when we brought her home from the hospital! Speaking of our little pumpkin, I had better get off here and go to bed if I want to be able to function tomorrow. She still doesn't sleep through the night yet. She's a great baby, but a terrible sleeper. She's rarely cranky though, so I guess she's getting enough sleep.

Kaitlyn is 4 months

Kaitlyn had her 4 month check up and vaccines yesterday. She weighs 13 lbs 8 oz and is 26 inches long. She is in the 50th percentile for weight and 95th for height. I guess her weight is catching up with her height. The doctor said she is already teething. I thought she was because she has been gnawing on everything, including our collar bones :) But I kind of hope it takes her a while to get a tooth. I can't imagine our little baby with a tooth! She hasn't been fussy with it yet, so maybe it will still be a while. The doctor said that the risk of SIDS is no longer an issue since she is rolling over on her own. She also said she could begin eating rice cereal if we want, but that it's no big hurry if we want to wait. Kaitlyn does seem to be getting a little curious about food, but I guess we'll know when she's ready.

Crib Recall

Just as Kaitlyn has started sleeping in her own crib, I just found out that her crib has been recalled. How frustrating! Thankfully she is taking a nap right now in her pack n play--on her belly of course:-) All of you ladies who responded to my last post confirmed my mother's intuition. I figure if she is strong enough to roll over like that she is probably safe. Of course, I still frequently check on her. I think I'll still see what her doctor says on Tuesday when we go for the 4 month appt. In the end though, I think a mother usually knows her baby better than anyone.

Back or Belly?

Okay, so Kaitlyn has just started sleeping in her own crib in her own room for nap time. We're still working on night time. The only problem is she keeps rolling over to her belly or her side. All I've heard and read says to lay your baby down on their back to sleep, which I do, but what if they roll over on their own? I know this wouldn't be a problem if she were older but 2-6 months is when the risk of SIDS is the highest, and she is almost 4 months. Every time I roll her back to her back she just rolls right back over to her side or belly. Should I be worried or should I just let her sleep?

Kaitlyn is 3 months old.

I can't believe our baby is already 3 months old. Many of you know that we had to wait a long time for our little one to come along, but she was definitely worth the wait. God has truly blessed us with a precious baby girl that brings us an unimaginable amount of joy and happiness. These past 3 months have been the best. We can't imagine our lives without her now. It is so neat to see how she develops and learns new things every week. For example, on Father's Day she laughed out loud for the first time when Victor kissed the side of her belly. Evidently he found her tickle spot. We will always remember that first laugh. She continues to be such a happy and lovable baby. At the airport she was not only smiling and squealing at us, but at everyone else around us. We thank God everyday for giving her to us.
