Gospel Meeting!

The meeting last week was absolutely superb! I want to thank the elders for inviting Steve Fontenot to come and be with us! He had some absoultely amazing lessons, and if you didn't get to hear them, I highly recommend getting a CD from Mark. You definitely won't be disappointed. Not only were the lessons great, but one of them brought back some repressed thoughts and concerns I had about my baptism. In retrospect, I am not certain that I knew baptism was for the remission of sins, or that I acted with the right intentions. After talking with Emily, David and Mr. Fontenot, I decided I needed to be baptized "again". I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!! Only one full week left in classes! Whoop!

Funny stuff!

Here is something my roommate sent to me that gave me a good laugh. I know it's kinda long, but enjoy! Why did the chicken cross the road?BARACK OBAMA : The chicken crossed the road because it was time for change! The chicken wanted change!JOHN MC CAIN: My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.SARAH PALIN: The chicken had to cross the road because he was not able to find a bridge. Alaskans do not build bridges to nowhere. If he wanted a bridge, he'd have to build it himself.HILLARY CLINTON : When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure right from Day One that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me.GEORGE W. BUSH : We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if ...

Well everyone should know why this day is important. This could possibly be one of the most important elections in our lifetime. Hopefully the people of America will make careful, thoughtful decisions when voting. I just hope that we don't have any more recount problems or hanging chads!

Howdy! I just wanted to let everyone know that I will be in San Marcos all day Saturday (10/25) with my canoeing class. Therefore, if I am not at church Sunday morning, then something bad happened on the river. Lord willing, I don't think that will happen, but I just wanted to inform everyone! Have a wonderful day, and always remember to put your trust in the Lord! :D

Great article - Please read!

I read this article in the October issue of the Gospel Fire. This was written by Jared Akins, who used to worship at Twin City. I know it is long, but please read this because it is something we all need to consider. We have all heard of the familiar saying “going through the motions,” and most of us have probably been guilty of this at one point or another in our service to God. I know that my spiritual life has been filled with mountains of zeal at times and valleys of sin other times. When I think of this idea of “going through the motions,” one particular thought comes to my mind immediately: being lukewarm and the waters around Laodicea. When we look at the city of Laodicea and the surrounding geography and compare it to the church at Laodicea and the relationship these Christians had with God, we are providedwith a marvelous analogy, which we can meditate on (Rev. 3:14-22). The city of Laodicea was highly dependent on outside sources for water; Laodicea received water ...

My brother Daniel...

I missed a call from him today (he called during the Bible study), but I did receive an email from him with some good news:"I arrived at my forward operations base about two weeks ago. My team and I are assigned to support one of the Military Transition Teams advising a battalions of the 7th Iraqi Army Division in the Al Anbar Province. Our biggest task right now is to occasionally convoy to Al Asad Air Base for our logistical needs. It's really quiet over here, it's a complete 180 from my last deployment. As an illustration, in the past three months, there have been 19 Marine deaths in the province, only two of those are attributed to hostile action."I was happy to see word from him. Also, Vanessa, this is encouraging news for you too because I'm sure all of the area is much more calm than it used to be! Some of you asked that I would give you his address, so here it is for those who wanted it:Captain Frank, Daniel B.5th ANGLICO, Det C / FCT 10Unit 38554FPO ...
