Everyone Needs A Sick Day

I have not been feeling well lately. I have a cold or something that is making me miserable. This morning I woke up to go to work, but then decided to stay home. After getting up at 6 AM, I went back to sleep until 10, when I got up and made some hot chocolate. After killing a couple of hours on the internet while in bed, I finally got up and made macaroni & cheese - my most comforting comfort food. :) And then I called my momma. So being sick isn't all bad - my toenails are now freshly painted, we actually have food in our refrigerator (I went grocery shopping), we have some clean clothes (I was feeling guilty about doing so much nothing), and chocolate chip cookies are in the oven as we speak. Not a bad day, huh? It's nice to slow down sometimes.

Who Built the Arky Arky?

So, I've been teaching the 3-year-old class again, and I've been having lots of fun. I just built an ark and made some animal masks. :) Can you imagine how freaked out Noah must have been when all those animals starting showing up? I think if I had been Noah's wife and had any doubts about his sanity, seeing all those animals line up outside my house would have cleared it all up for me. It seems like that would have opened up some of Noah's neighbors' eyes, too. But I guess when people are so wicked that they need to be flooded out, then their hearts are too callous to see and believe in the power of God. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing some cute animal faces in my class this week. :)

So, to celebrate Chris passing his exam, we went to a nice steak place for dinner Friday night. Not very creative, but cows sure are delicious. :)Happy 4th of July everyone!Star Glitter

How Should We Celebrate ?

Chris found out yesterday that he passed his P.E. Exam - on the first try! We are so excited! He was afraid he had failed it since this was his boss' and another co-worker's second time taking it - and they both failed it. So what should we do to celebrate? My ideas right now are to go out to eat, or to throw him a surprise party (which might be hard since he mentioned taking this Friday off from work). I'm open to ideas!** Clarification: P.E. means Professional Engineer :) Sorry about that! **

Who's Counting?

Three more days of work - well, really four, but tomorrow I'll be in training all day, so it won't be bad - and then I get to take a week off! Yay!Next Thursday night my little sis will graduate from high school. I'm exciting about getting to go home and hanging out with him. I'm also hoping to work in some time at the beach. I miss the ocean so much. One more day until Saturday, three more days of work until my week off, and two more minutes until I win an ebay bid. :)

Things I Love About Busy Season

5) Spending almost every waking hour with my co-workers4) Very limited physical activity (sitting all day)3) Being salaried - if I was paid hourly I'd probably have problems trying to manage all that money2) When I drive to or from work I don't have to worry about the sun being in my eyes1) Not having to worry about how to spend my free time - Saturday is just another work dayHa!

Cause for Celebration

I found out this week that the Georgia Board of Accountancy approved my CPA application. I'm now a Certified Public Accountant. Yay!Disclaimer: This does not mean I am good at math. Nor does it mean I am a tax expert.Other Common MythsIn other news, we are trying really hard to potty-train Bobo. He is definitely making progress, but it hasn't been accident free. If you feel like watching other cats go potty, check out You Tube. It's hilarious.

Vote Republican

So, yeah. I just filled in the rough numbers for our income taxes this year, and it doesn't look good. Our total tax bill (including Medicare and Social Security we'll never see) came to ONE FIFTH of our income. That's depressing. I just hope we don't vote someone into the White House this year that wants to increase taxes.P.S. - That didn't include our sales or property taxes...For some tax tips, click the cartoon below. Good luck!
