As JT was working on one of his workbooks today we came across this joke. He thought it was hilarious and started making up jokes to try and be funny. What kind of vegetable goes "ding-dong?"Give up?stumped....Can't believe I have wasted your reading time with this?! :)Answer: A bell pepper! My little guy thought that was the most hiliarious joke of the century. So we have it on the fridge to remind ourselves to tell Daddy today!

Our holiday letter....

A lot of you received this letter in the mail, but if I did not have your address, here is our Christmas letter that went out this pic of the kids....Dear Family and Friends, Greetings from the Pickard Princess! When mommy told me I would be penning the family Christmas letter this year I was so excited. Wouldn’t you be excited to be asked despite it being your first Christmas with the family? I have been with them since mid May and I have made my position in the family quite prominent and dramatic! For those who have not met me yet, my name is Emma Pickard. I was born on May 15th about 5 weeks earlier than expected. The doctor said that my heart rate kept decelerating but in all honesty it was because I like drama and what would be more dramatic than making an early, unexpected appearance. So after causing my mommy major surgery and a brief hospital stay that cost more than my future college education, I came here to Crescent Drive. I love it here! I spend most of...

All that is good and decent...

This time of year I find myself fighting fits of nostalgia. There is very little about this time of year that holds unpleasant memories stay for the fact that those that have held such prominent roles in the memories may have gone on. I find myself wanting to get close to my childhood, even at times missing it more than anything. Childhood is such a fragile thing of beauty. JT seems to believe in the goodness of mankind so fundamentally that I marvel at the little naive soul. Being naive, is looked at in our society as a negative trait and that being that way somehow makes you a gulliable person, but I think it is a lovely characteristic of children. I think that childhood is the most important part of the season. How would we all be different if our growing up years had altered? Not everyone had a stable child rearing experience, but you would not be who you are today if it was not for those years. I drove by my grandparents old house and my parents old house this holid...

I needed some perspective....

When my husband lost his job.....God showed me that some women have husbands who are so disabled they can not go back to work. When my husband received a pay cut....God showed me the countless people who have and will loose their jobs in our injured economy. When I trip over things in my small house....I think of the single mother who is cuddling her three children in her car wondering how she will care for them. When I complain about a dripping facet or my broken sink handle...I will remember the people in third world countries who bath themselves and animals, wash their clothes and dishes and drink all from the same dwindling water source. When my presidential candiate didn't win...God showed me he was in control and I need not panic. When I accidentlly misunderstood the parking token system and paid for an extra token...The Lord showed a mommy with tired eyes waiting in line for her token. I may have been the only one to take care of her that day. When my baby boy was...

Prayers Please...

JT is currently having an ultrasound on his hernia to see if he needs more immediate surgery. We had to take him to Children's last night to the ER because the hernia had worsened. Please say a prayer that he will be okay and that if surgery is needed before the 15th of January that the surgeons will be steady of hand and knowledge knowing that what they have on their table is one of the most precious things God has given me. :)

The Three Billy Goats Gruff....

Once upon a time there were three billy goats, who were to go up to the hillside to make themselves fat, and the name of all three was "Gruff."On the way up was a bridge over a cascading stream they had to cross; and under the bridge lived a great ugly troll , with eyes as big as saucers, and a nose as long as a poker. So first of all came the youngest Billy Goat Gruff to cross the bridge."Trip, trap, trip, trap! " went the bridge."Who's that tripping over my bridge?" roared the troll ."Oh, it is only I, the tiniest Billy Goat Gruff , and I'm going up to the hillside to make myself fat," said the billy goat, with such a small voice."Now, I'm coming to gobble you up," said the troll."Oh, no! pray don't take me. I'm too little, that I am," said the billy goat. "Wait a bit till the second Billy Goat Gruff comes. He's much bigger.""Well, be off with you," said the troll.A little while after cam...

We bought our Christmas tree from a Llama and two Goldens named Star and Percy!

The Pickards had a great day! After a promise we made last year to our J.T. we finally cut down our tree today. It was a wonderful day complete with walking through a literal forest to find our tree! (I felt like Laura Ingalls!) We found our little tree and then made our way back to the house of our hosts to have cider, hot chocolate and m&ms. It was fun to see these nice people truly enjoying the season. The lady showed us her llamas and introduced us to her adorable nutter butter loving Golden Retrievers called Star and Percy. They lady insisted on tying up the tree for us and as we drove out of sight wished us a Merry Christmas! It was one of the most enjoyable things we have done as a family. As a bonus...it snowed today! How perfect! Enjoy the start to your Christmas season! :)The men coming home from the hunt: Here is our Llama:And our finished product:
