Jonah is six and Chloe's the new mommy...

Jonah requested a lemon cake with blueberry creme filling for his bday- how is such a food snob already??? Andy....??? That cake was VERY hard to make, but tasted pretty yummy if you ask me! LOTS of lemon zest-- argg!! ;)He is 6 now. He is so mature and doing so much school work every day. It is taking me LITERALLY 20 minutes to teach him the concepts that I would've taken a whole week to teach my first graders!! LOVING that! His writing journal subject Wednesday last week was "MY FAMILY". I started to prompt him on what to write and he quickly interrupted to say "No, mom- I already know!" So I left to come back later to see a sweet family picture drawn and below it read:I love my 'Adelion' for she is sweet and tendr, I love my Chloe for she is nise, I love my Daddy for he is kind, I love my Mommy for she is good." MELT MY HEART!!! ;) That will take me through the rest of this year, I think! His first tooth is about to fall out. He has strep throat right...

Are you jealous?

Chloe just informed me late tonight that I was the "MOST MOST MOST MOST MOST prettiest mommy in this whole house." She is so sincere! She, and she came over today and had my kids mesmerized by their silly songs and utter excitement over going through 500 early readers and getting SO excited about each of them that they remembered reading when they were little! They were so cute! And helpful. They put stickers on TONS of books. It would have taken me hours!Have a great weekend!! I am praying for kids everywhere who are about to start school next week! Mine will start Monday Sept. 1st! Luckily we only have a few yards to travel to the classroom! ;) I've never been so excited about my students! ;)

Random tidbits...

Colby's party was a grand time! Thank you ALL for coming and sharing with us! I HAVE to get some pictures on here. Of course ALEX PARTY MAN was there and I bet he will get his up before mine!!Our neighbors are building on to their house. All I can think of is the flood of scorpions that are currently making their way to our house. Our house is still a mess from getting new floors last week. But, at least I only paid $90 out of pocket for it all!Adeline randomly says "Mommy, I love Jesus!" and "Jesus loves ME!" and that has helped remind me how true this is!! Oh...children...I gave Jonah an "official" 1st gd. reading test (Texas Primary Reading Inventory) the other day just because I was curious and he mastered it completely so I guess that is a good way to begin home schooling this Sept!! YAY! I just went right to the final passage and it was a segment taken out of an Amelia Bedilia book, which he loves! ;) I always liked those, too! ;)The other ...

Colby is a master, now!

Well, not really. But, he does have his Master's degree as of Friday!!! YAY!! We had a great weekend in Dallas- Colby's parents, Andy & Heather, and our nephew Ashen! Six Flags was REALLY fun and hot. We survived and stayed till 11:00. Jonah and Chloe did GREAT!! I am so glad we went. It wouldn't have been as fun if Colby's parents had not been so helpful! The kids loved the rides! FYI- if you take smaller children on roller coasters, go ahead and put your arm around their little heads so they don't bang their noggin too hard! I even video taped 3 of the rides! One day I will get some things up on here! Maybe now that Colby is done with school, our life will start getting normal around here! Yeah, right!! This weekend is the big celebration! Hope to see you!

PLEASE somebody help me feel normal here!!

Yes, I am a cheesy mother. At times I burst into song around the house- I like oldies and all kinds. Out of the blue today I started singing the Eagles song New Kid in Town:"Johnny come lately, the new kid in townWill she still love you when you're not around? There's so many things you should have told her,but night after night you're willing to hold her,Just hold her, tears on your shoulder "I then thought "Hmm, I should turn the radio on since we haven't listened to it all week. What if that song was playing!? That would be weird!" Well, it naturally wasn't the same song. It was the last 20 seconds of another song. Then a most unnatural thing happened. Yup. New Kid in Town began. So, I started feeling really weird and like I was floating around in a big fluffy dream. Things like that have happened before, but not real recently. There had to be some kind of energy that was making me sing that song. Maybe I sent my mind's energy to the man at the radio s...

Coughing Goose

So, the other evening at the park we were feeding the aggressive geese and i had my head turned when one decided to nip at me. It didn't even hurt, but it startled me so my reflexes made me kick it SOOOOO hard in the gizzard! (Neck, throat area) I felt so bad for it and was sorry that my kids saw me. But, if you think about it, it's kinda fun. Not hurting the animal, but just kicking something mushy. Needless to say, the goose kept its distance while it tried to regain his normal quack. It sounded pitiful. I had a talk to the kids about protecting yourself around animals. The next night a small dog came charging at me during my walk and ran through my legs. His owner was close by, but I almost did it again (the kung fu kick, that is). I'm glad I didn't since it didn't hurt me. The owner nicely mumbled some things to me and I caught the tail end of it. He said "I am surprised he didn't bite you, he usually does- you gotta watch out." OK, what in the world!!? That is REAL...
