The power of prayer

Definitely worked. I know it seems like a long time ago, but thank you all for your prayers from the last post. I'm feeling better than I have in a long time (except for the fact that I just woke up), and things are going better in a lot of ways.Got a big next couple months up ahead. I'll be living like a rockstar for a little while, right out of a suitcase. Starting next week:November 25-29 - Thanksgiving in AmarilloDecember 8-12 - FinalsDecember 18-22 - Cruise to CozumelDecember 23/24-January 2 - Christmas in AmarilloJanuary 5-24 - Trip to Philippines with Shane, Zach Fisk, Zach Olsen, Matt Perez, Jim, and Jim's grandkid.Pretty jazzed about it all coming up. I'll tell you what I'm not excited about at all though, is the song that I had to write and now perform in a couple hours in front of my guitar class. It's about how much I hate my guitar class. Should get an A.I'll leave you with something that happened earlier this week that made me want to go out and get my conceal...

James 5:16-18

My pride usually gets in the way of me doing this, but this time I know I need it. There are a lot of things in my life that I'm struggling with, have been struggling with for a long time, and its really starting to take a hold on me more than usual. I need your prayers for strength and encouragement, those are the things I'm really lacking right now. There was a time in my life where I used to believe that everything I was fighting with could be handled myself, but now I'm starting to learn the hard way just how untrue that idea is.2 Corinthians 2:3-11

You thought you had a bad day...

Looking through some old Gospel Anchors that my parents got back in the 80's, I found an article talking about how you should never work alone. The story to illustrate it I thought was pretty wild. Definitely an honorable mention for the darwin awards if I've ever seen one. Kinda long, but I doubt once you get into it you'll be able to stop reading. Just can't believe how many things happen to this dude.Dear Sir:I am writing in response to your request for additional information. In block number 3 of the accident report form, I put trying to do the job alone as the cause of the accident. You said in your letter that I should explain more fully, and I trust the following details will be sufficient.I am a bricklayer by trade. ON the date of the accident I was working alone on the roof of a six-story building. When I had completed my work, I discovered that I had about 500 pounds of brick left over. Rather than carry the bricks down by hand, I decided to lower them in a barrel by us...

Food for thought

My brother's father-in-law, Terry Sumerlin, is a motivational speaker. He has also owned and operated a barber shop for the better part of 20 years, and has wrote a book that has little bits of wisdom he has learned from the different customers that walk in, "Barberosophy." As part of his promotion process along with an added bonus to whoever wants it, he puts out a bi-weekly newsletter with a short article taken from along the same lines of his book. It's definitely a great newsletter to get, and I always enjoy reading them, but today's issue I thought was especially good.A Highly Effective Problem-Solving Techniqueby: Terry SumerlinIt’s amazing the differences we see in people from one day to the next. Though I certainly don’t consider myself a grump, on some days relationships come more easily for me than on others. For instance, one morning when I had some serious issues I was trying to sort out I arrived at the fitness center at 6 A.M., and it seemed no one ...

So here's my conundrum

According to SFASU regulations, I need another 6 hours of electives of anything during the summer II session in order to graduate on time in December. The only problem is, I have yet to find any courses between Angelina College's 7 options and SFA's 9 that are worthwhile at all. All of them are "Intro to Biology" or "Adaptation of Advanced Business to the Sociological Impact of Environmental Resources" taught by Dr. Boring. Needless to say, there's not a lot out there. On top of this, since my schedule this summer is so crazy, there's virtually no way I would be able to stay on a weekly schedule in-class, so these have to be online courses. To add another stone to this heap, all my money is redirected to Boston/Gasoline/Taco Bell, so there's not a lot of money available for most of the bigger schools.Does anyone know of a smaller (like community) college that offers any kickin online classes between July 1 and August 30? If I don't find something, it looks like...

Should be a good summer

To Do List for Summer 2008 (and these are actual things I'm saving and planning for, not just pipe dreams):1. Boston trip with my brothers (July 24-29)2. Skydiving - after Boston trip (just in case I die)3. Sox/Astros game with friends. Standing room only, but should still be a lot of fun.1,328. Summer SchoolGonna take some cash. Gonna take a lot of guts. It won't equal last summer that I spent in Africa, but it should still be pretty freakin great.
