It's not so bad...

Getting off work an hour later than usual (and going in an hour earlier than usual). The mornings at work as usual fly by. And for the most part it's just fine. Even though I'm with a different partner. It's all going to work out. (I'll up date you again when I work Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun from 7a-5). My schedule starts off with weekends off, so I'm pretty lucky to get the Treat first. But we get that F/S/S break every other weekend, so I'm looking forward to it.I'm an early riser, so getting up hasn't had to change for me. Getting ready an hour earlier has had to change. I'm trying to workout smarter/not longer during the time I do have. So some interval training yesterday morning at 5am. And a day of rest today. Tomorrow I'm off and I will go to my Step Aerobic class. So, this morning I got up and cooked. Chicken tenderloin (hot sesame oil and ginger) for putting over salads at lunch. And I have pan seared pork chops in the oven with golden mushroom gravy -AKA: Campbells s...

Cleaning and general housekeeping stuff...

Obviously I'm taking a break from my duties. YUCK!I dislike housework quite a bit. We're washing sheets and tidying and scrubbing down the kitchen and both bathrooms and I think I'll get dusting out of the way too.Ric is our carpet sweeper! So I'm pretty sure I'm off the hook for that. And even though the kids have the DISHWASHER and LAUNDRY as their responsibilities, we still go behind them and tie up loose ends and keep up with the extra that somehow they miss. Like towels wadded up on the floor and pans left on the back of the stove. But it always feels good to do this kind of stuff. Ok not DO IT...but when I'm done. It's a nice accomplishment (for about 20 minutes)What are you doing today?xo~Valerieps: OH YEAH!!! It's 57 degrees and we've got windows open :)

You mean you gotta pay on time?

Ok, after another pretty boring weekend, I've decided to share a work related story with you. While taking a non emergency call regarding repossession information (to log in as a courtesy in case the owner thinks it's stolen), the 911 line rang. (so I put him on hold...and took a call that turned out to be about the same vehicle that he was calling about)ME: 911 what's the emergency?CALLER: My truck was just stolen.ME: Ma'am was it at 123 Anywhere St?CALLER: YesME: ...And was it "such and such a year and color truck"?CALLER: YesME: Ma'am you're vehicle was repossessed by "REPO COMPANY NAME"***********************************She proceeds to protest that they can't do that. She was upset that her license tags were on the vehicle. And she was worried that they would steal things out of the vehicle. ***********************************continuing...***********************************CALLER: Well, don't they at least ha...

ONLY 355 DAYS til XMAS!!!

Who cares right? Some folks are planners, I just thought I'd remind them of the time passing by.Not a lot to catch you up on. Working and stuff. Kids laying around sleeping til 1pm if possible. Tom is hooked on some new game and has taken up residence in the front living room where Ric put some new video card in one of the many used computers he has in the garage. Yesterday, I asked how long til it was moved. The boys looked at me and said - "Uh never"So I don't like that idea....and we're moving it either into his room or the family room on my sewing desk. Sigh....How many PCs is TOO MANY?The holiday decorations are all put away and that makes me feel GOOD. I'm the type that often has the tree down by the evening on the 25th or at the very latest...Dec 26. This year it took me til New Yrs eve day. I'm slipping. Our dispatch dept is starting a new trial schedule. We have 9 dispatchers plus the boss (who sometimes dispatches) and I've proposed a 12 hr schedul...

PARKING WARS?

Can anyone tell me how the show Parking Wars came to be?I got to work today and our TV is usually on CNN or something like that or the weather channel. But I guess with the laid back holiday atmosphere, the dispatcher was just watching for entertainment. Anyway....I'm not on the TV side today, so I can't control it. The other dispatcher is watching this show that I cannot even comprehend. Why is this interesting? I mean does anyone one else watch this? From Wikipedia: Schadenfreude (IPA: [ˈʃaːdənˌfʁɔʏ̯də] is pleasure taken from observing the misery of another. The word referring to this emotion has been borrowed from German by the English language[1] and is sometimes also used as a loanword by other languages.Philosopher and sociologist Theodor Adorno defined schadenfreude as “largely unanticipated delight in the suffering of another which is cognized as trivial and/or appropriate.”[2]I think watching COPS or other crime type shows / reality shows is not ...
