glitter-graphics.comI have a total of 37 students. I'm (well, let me clarify...my mother is helping me, making it and bringing it to school for me) making Pumpkin Soup for them to go along with a writing lesson we've been working on. I'll let you know how they like it.

Would you eat this? Apparently, this is good holiday fare. EEK

Good Mince-MeatTake a bullock's heart and boil it, or two pounds of the lean of fresh beef. When it is quite cold, shop it very fine. Chop three pounds of beef suet (first removing the skin and strings) and six pounds of large juicy apples that have been pared and cored. Then stone six pounds of the best raisins, (or take sultana raisins that are without stones,) and chop them also. Wash and dry three pounds of currants. Mix all together; adding to them the grated peel and the juice of two or three large oranges, two table-spoonfuls of powdered cinnamon, two powdered nutmegs, and three dozen powdered cloves, a tea-spoonful of beaten mace, one pound of fine brown sugar, one quart of Madeira wine, one pint of French brandy, and half a pound of citron cut into large slips. Having thoroughly mixed the whole, put it into a stone jar, and tie it up with brandy paper.

Happy News!! Drew is feeling 50% better, which is great. I let him go outside today for a little bit. He's playing with his racetrack right now, sitting here with me. I'm so glad I took the day off to be with him. There will be no trick or treating tonight because I don't want him out in the night air, but since he and Gabby had such a good time at their house, they aren't too disappointed. Also, Blake, Lauren, and Emma have told Gabby and Drew they are going to get 'extra' candy for them tonight. So sweet. Gabby's feeling much better too!! Thanks for all your prayers, friends!

glitter-graphics.comI'm mortified: Last night I bought Gabby a really cute shirt. It had stars on it, which is now her favorite motif (thanks to her), and other sparkly, colorful graphics. At the END of the school day today I happened to see her on the bus ramp and noticed her shirt. Written across the lower front, was the graphic, "sexy girl". I didn't even notice it when she tried it on and neither did she. We were in the living room admiring it last night, bragging how cute she looked. How nice that she went all day with that graphic on her shirt. I could die. What are people thinking making something like that for a child anyway? Stupid people. Stupid me for not seeing it. I told her when she gets home to rip that thing off and toss it in the trash. Good grief.
