Such a Happy New Year

I always look forward to New Year's day because it is one of the very few times my whole family gets together for any amount of time. This year was no exception. We had lots of fun playing (and some of us watching) Becky's Wii. Phil and I are now home and very happy to be so. It seems we have not been home in forever. I think tomorrow will be filled with taking down and packing up Christmas decorations.

I didn't have to wait

So Christmas came early for me (or part of it). My hubby was very sweet and got me a new laptop. Ever since we got married I had just used his because my old one is a major POC so we went to Circuit City (which is going out of business here in Spring Hill) and found a really cool one for a good price. I had lots of fun last night sitting and watching him set it all up for me (I figured he would be quicker and have more fun than me doing it myself). The fun thing is that he now has memory envy :-) hehe

I can't wait till Christmas...

... or at least the end of December. It will be jam packed and lots of fun. First, of course, is christmas which will be spent in Birmingham. We are going to go down and surprise my grandmother, she thinks we are staying home. Then the day after we are going to Atlanta for a weekend trip to celebrate our anniversary. I can't believe it will have been a year! We'll come home Sunday sometime so Phil can work Mon - Wed and head back to Birmingham late Wed or early Thursday for my family's New Year's events. It will be great to be with all of my siblings and their families again. :-)In other news, someone requested pictures of my house and I realized I hadn't put any up so here are some of the highlights. Our first Chrsitmas Tree (YAY!), the living room, the loft, the guest room (if anyone wants to come visit), the kitchen and the dinding room. There is still more painting to be done but I'm happy for now :-)

Feels like Home

Today I started painting. YAY!! I know some will ask why and I say because I like color. All of my walls were cream and the ceilings were too so I needed to liven it up. :-) The first to get painted, my loft. I think it will eventually be sortof a game room with a table but for not it is used as a hall to get to all of the bedrooms. It took a lot longer to paint than I thought it would, a little over 3 hours - and that was just the primer. But I am SO excited, it will definitly be all worth it.I know it is kindof silly but I am just now hanging pictures and stuff like that so it is starting to feel more like we live here and less like we just moved in. :-) I like it alot.

My very fun and productive weekend

I went to Birmingham this past weekend with JoEllen to try and find some stuff for our new houses. There is a great fabric store in Oneonta (basically a town in the middle of no where in Alabama). We both found lots of fabric to make curtains and pillows. I was very excited. Then we went to Kirkland and we both got some wall art (I especially needed it because I have so many bare walls). It was a lot of fun. After getting home, Phil and I went to Southeastern Salvage up in Nashville because I had found some stuff at the one in Birmingham I liked but it wasn't quite right so I wanted to chekc at another one. We went thinking we would only look and came home with a wonderful dining room table. It is actually 2 console tables put together to make a bigger one. I was so excited and happy because it was just what I wanted. Now I can't wait to paint and make the curtains for it all to come together :-)

A tough week

This has been one of those weeks that it sure is good when it is over. I guess some good things have happened but there are a lot of things weighing on my heart. Sometimes I wish there was a button to make everything right in the world.

I'm It

So I was tagged in this most current pleo fad. I was told to post 8 random facts about myself and tag 8 more people so here it goes:1. I have a foot phobia, a REAL foot phobia. I guess the most random part about it is that I lovingly refer to it as a foot fetish :-)2. I think I love to cook but I hate trying new recipes3. I have a desire to care for something - a dog, a child, a goldfish, something. Right now that desire is.... unfulfilled.4. I have no blinds on any of the windows in my house. :-) Thankfully we are only the second house on the street and the other one is up the street. 5. I would rather spend money to decorate my house than pay off debt or save, much to my husbands chagrin.6. I like too many colors to decide how to decorate my house.7. I have a old movie theme going in the one place I would never put a TV.And finally...8. If I could hire anything done I would hire the dusting, I HATE TO DUST!And now for the tagging:jimmybuckslmarti7silleylimepo...

New house and sickness

We moved Saturday before last. It was a long day but we had my sweet family helping and that made it enjoyable. I have gotten most things out of boxes and put somewhere, notice I didn't say put away. Things are bound to change location a few times. Our family trip to the beach (that Phil and I decided not to go on having just moved) got cancelled due to Ike so the whole family got together at mom and dad's house and had a very fun wekend. I was really glad the beach trip was a bust so we could be with everyone. Sadly Monday morning I woke up sick and have stayed sick until now. Just today I felt well enough to do laundry and unpack the office (the last room with boxes). I have now over done for having been sick the last few days and going to veg out for a while. I will try and post some pictures of the new house in a few days. Oh, one more thing, we do not have cable or internet right now. Charter is having to do all this technicalstuff to run the cable to out house so while bein...

Walkthrough was today...

The house is pretty much done. :-D There were quite a few nicks, dings, and rough areas on the walls and trim but nothing major. (It was weird walking through nit-picking the finish job with the builder there but I guess someone has to do it.) They were having to move the attic access stairs. First there were turned the wrong way where you had to step over the hole to get to the floored area and then they were too close to the wall the other way around. So when we were there there was a big hole in the ceiling and it was being made bigger to move the stairs over. Right now we are living in a jungle of boxes. I have taken all the pictures down and packed everything I can think of that we won't need. It seems really bare and empty with out the pictures on the walls. The end of next week should be busy. We close Wednesday. On Thursday or Friday we have to go but a fridge and I want to go paint the ceiling at least in the kitchen/breakfast nook/ den because it is off white and I figur...
