so as i was driving home last night in the light fog i started thinking of the most memorable driving conditions i have driven in. i came up with a list. i am sure you can all relate on quite a few of these.1. driving in the dessert it is PITCH black aside from the passing eighteen wheelers and the occasional rest stops. john and i were driving from CA to TX straight through, that's a 27 hr drive, and i fell asleep at the wheel. i have never been so thankful for the rumble strip!!2. the fog on the southern CA coast at night is terrifying! i was driving home one night from work after closing, almost midnight, and the fog was so thick i couldn't see past my headlights. i was white-knuckled and praying for tail lights to follow or at least a passing car to make sure i was in the right lane. i was literally praying that i make it home in one piece!3. john was flying home for christmas when i was a senior and he was in a-school with the navy and it had started to sleet and ice. my mom...

here's a little of what's up with us.evan is a MESS!! from splashing in the toilet to climbing on the fireplace. he's into EVERYTHING!! he's starting to cruise and let go of things when standing.addison just got his blue belt in TaeKwonDo and is reading everything he can get his hands on. got a call from his teacher the other day because he was not listening and following directions. that ruined our day. i know he's a good kid and they all have to learn but it still upset me. he "changed his color" so many times last grading period that he went from an "E" to an "S" in conduct but he got all 98's in his other subjects. oliver just got his yellow belt and he is very proud! he loves his baby brother and i sometimes find them playing "together". so sweet! the other day in the van he asked me when he could go to outer space and i told him that he could grow up and be an astronaut and he said no that he was going to be a firefighter. i told him...

Good Day

The garage sale was a great success! I made $260 and my mom made $150. Now for some Christmas shopping. This afternoon John and I went to see the King Tut exhibit at the DMA. It was really well done. Amazing digital reproductions and beautiful artifacts. Very interesting and the mummification process and the preserved result is absolutely mind blowing! We brought back some cool stuff for the boys. We got their names in hieroglyphics and a pyramid that you "excavate" to find the hidden treasure. After the exhibit we went back to Fort Worth for dinner at Byblos which is Lebanese. I have been wanting to try this place for a while and it was worth driving back for. The location is not in the best part of town but the atmosphere inside is very cool -almost bohemian. I had some awesome kabobs but John's was my favorite. It was like...Lebanese meatloaf. Very comforting, familiar but ethnic at the same time. Ask John about the...AHEM...entertainment. *wink* We had a great day and ...

So today and tomorrow I am having a garage sale. This morning I was only out from 8-11:15am and mad

So today and tomorrow I am having a garage sale. This morning I was only out from 8-11:15am and made over $160!! I am totally thrilled with that. Tomorrow I plan to be out from 8-12 and I hope that will get rid of the rest of my big stuff- some electronics and desk- that, I predict, will put me up over $200 dollars. I already sold some baby stuff that wasn't in the garage sale for another $75. I am so excited to have some Christmas money but even more excited to have some more SPACE! Space is at a premium around here. Garage sales are a lot of work and time but well worth the effort. Yay!!

Handmade Christmas

So I've decided, at the last minute, to make as many of our Christmas gifts as possible. I should have started before now but next year I will plan better. So far I have 3 scarves, 2 beaded ice buckets (thanks for letting me copy you), 2 bracelets and three shirts to decorate along with a backsack and stockings for my family to sew. I'm really excited to get it all done. I love giving gifts but handmade ones are just extra special to give. I made John a blanket for his birthday to take to the fire station too. I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew (I'm good at that)!!
