The Five Sermons of Matthew

Charlotte Jobe wrote me an e-mail with the correct answer to my "homework" assignment from Sunday night. Here's the answer for the benefit of all:

The Five Sermons:

Matthew 5-8:1 (the Sermon on the Mount)
Matthew 10-11:1
Matthew 13:1-53
Matthew 18-19:1
Matthew 24-26:1 (the Olivet Discourse)

If there are easy to remember titles to the middle 3, I don't know what they are. Noting these 5 sermons can be helpful for understanding/remembering the overall structure of Matthew.

Guys Game Night

For any guys interested, I'm planning a guys game night for Friday, July 10 from 6:00 p.m. at the Baxley house. I'll supply the cold drinks, we'll all chip in for pizza delivery.

I have Risk at home. If you have other board games you can bring (Axis and Allies, etc.), please bring them. If anybody has poker chips and cards and there's interest, bring them along too!

Looking forward to seeing as many of you as can come.

Same to you! On an unrelated note, do your girls have "-ova" at the end of their last names on their USA records? Just curious. We "might" be having a girl, and I'm starting to think about name questions. Of course, the CR still doesn't recognize our son's middle name. Crazy!
    by praguer at 01/12/09 11:47AM
  • crumpledart
That was fun! We'll have to do it again sometime soon.

I should have been more specific. It is the particular name we chose. We decided to use "Andrews" with an "s," which is not in their book as a first name - only a surname. We showed my ID, with it as my middle name, and they said, "That proves it's a girl's first name, not a boy's." Robert has filed a complaint, so we'll see what comes of it. It has become a matter of principle, that we will name our child what we want. The US embassy gave us no problems. We just added his middle name on the form.

    Hope that makes sense. :)
